The Brooklyn Rider The Brooklyn Rider Almanac 180g 2LP (Vinyl)
& lt;font color= & quot;#FF0000 & quot; & gt; & lt;b & gt;13 Songs from 13 Different Composers on 180g Vinyl Double LP! & lt;/b & gt; & lt;/font & gt; & lt;br & gt; & lt;br & gt; The Brooklyn Rider Almanac is a conceptual album made up of original compositions. For this project, the quartet selected a group of composers to create short works inspired by a creative muse from their relatively recent memory. & lt;br & gt; & lt;br & gt; Praised for its & lt;b & gt;“stunningly imaginative” & lt;/b & gt; performances (Lucid Culture), the adventurous, intrepid string quartet Brooklyn Rider combines a wildly eclectic repertoire with a gripping performance style that continues to attract legions of fans and draw critical acclaim from classical, world, and rock critics. & lt;br & gt; & lt;br & gt; NPR credits Brooklyn Rider with & lt;b & gt;“recreating the 300-year-old form of string quartet as a vital and creative 21st-century ensemble,” & lt;/b & gt; and Vice likens Brooklyn Rider to “motocross daredevils who never screw up a stunt.” At home in both clubs and concert halls, Brooklyn Rider has appeared in venues as varied as New York City’s Joe’s Pub, the San Francisco Jazz Festival, Japan’s Todai-ji, the Library of Congress, and the South By Southwest Festival. & lt;br & gt; & lt;br & gt; Through creative programming and global collaborations, Brooklyn Rider’s & lt;b & gt; “down-to-earth demeanor...demystifies contemporary classical music and invites everyone into the tent” & lt;/b & gt; - (Time Out New York). & lt;br & gt; & lt;br & gt; From Brooklynrider.com: & lt;br & gt; & lt;b & gt; & quot;Given the diversity in both style — everything from long, sentimental notes to choppy math-mindedness — and technique — clapping and even some vocals — it really felt like anything could happen. And it was all filtered through the quartet’s signature approach to production, which is both big and crisp, with enough reverb to make passages more momentous but enough energy to make the whole exercise feel immediate and personal. & quot; & lt;/b & gt; & lt;br & gt; & lt;br & gt; & lt;b & gt;Features: & lt;/b & gt; & lt;br & gt; • 180g Vinyl & lt;br & gt; • Double LP & lt;br & gt; • Free MP3 download of the entire album & lt;br & gt; & lt;br & gt; & lt;b & gt;Selections: & lt;br & gt; LP 1 - Side A: & lt;/b & gt; & lt;br & gt; 1. Milos Karadaglic Blackbird - The Beatles Album 180g LP (Vinyl)
& lt;font color= & quot;#FF0000 & quot; & gt; & lt;b & gt;180g Vinyl LP! Acclaimed Classical Guitarist Covers The Beatles! & lt;br & gt; Featuring Tori Amos, Gregory Porter & amp; More!! & lt;/b & gt; & lt;/font & gt; & lt;br & gt; & lt;br & gt; After delighting audiences with the classical heritage of the guitar on his three previous albums, acclaimed guitarist Milos Karadaglic returns with a pleasantly surprising departure; Blackbird – The Beatles Album. Performing delicate new arrangements of iconic songs by The Beatles, the “charismatic, sensitive player” (The New York Times) collaborates with celebrated artists from the varied worlds of pop, jazz and classical, including & lt;b & gt;Tori Amos, Gregory Porter, Anoushka Shankar, & lt;/b & gt; & lt;b & gt;Sergio Assad & lt;/b & gt; and & lt;b & gt;Steven Isserlis & lt;/b & gt;. & lt;br & gt; & lt;br & gt; Milos explains, & lt;b & gt;“Recording this album opened a door into a very different reality. It felt as if I was exploring an alter ego I never knew I had.” & lt;/b & gt; Highlights include “Blackbird,” “Come Together,” “While My Guitar Gently Weeps,” “Eleanor Rigby,” “Fool on the Hill,” and “Let it Be” among others. & lt;br & gt; & lt;br & gt; Blackbird – The Beatles Album was recorded in the famous Studio 2 of & lt;b & gt;Abbey Road Studios & lt;/b & gt;, where the Beatles themselves recorded most of their legendary songs. Further harkening back to the original sessions, this new recording also used some of the original microphones from The Beatles recordings. & lt;b & gt; & quot; The spirit, the whole magic of this space was truly intoxicating. It was a bit like they were all there, & quot; & lt;/b & gt; says Milos. & lt;br & gt; & lt;br & gt; As a young boy growing up in Montenegro, Milos did not pay the Beatles close attention, preferring instead to concentrate on core classical repertoire. Later, he was somewhat surprised when his teacher at London’s Royal Academy suggested that he learn & quot;Yesterday, & quot; in an arrangement by the Japanese composer Toru Takemitsu. & lt;b & gt; & quot; But then I studied the piece, and fell in love with it completely, & quot; & lt;/b & gt; he says. & lt;br & gt; & lt;br & gt; After graduation, while working as a guitar teacher himself, Milos read in a newspaper that Sir Paul McCartney was working on a guitar concerto. & lt;b & gt; & quot; All excited, I told a friend about it and she showed me where Sir Paul lived. I pressed the buzzer outside the great wooden gates… I left him my demo CD (including the interpretation of ‘Yesterday’) and a detailed letter explaining why I should be the one to play his concerto. Of course, I never heard back, & quot; & lt;/b & gt; he laughs. & lt;b & gt; & quot; But ever since that moment, I’ve paid much closer attention to the music of Sir Paul and the Beatles. & quot; & lt;/b & gt; & lt;br & gt; & lt;br & gt; Over the next several years, Milos explored the entire Beatles catalogue, gathering the songs that would work best for the classical guitar. He explains, & lt;b & gt; & quot; The guitar has always been the instrument which most comfortably transcends genres and straddles the worlds of classical and mainstream. The challenge with these amazing songs is to respect their own truth, while giving them a new life through a different medium. The key is simplicity. & quot; & lt;/b & gt; & lt;br & gt; & lt;br & gt; Blackbird – The Beatles Album also brought together a talented array of behind-the-scenes collaborators. Brazilian guitarist-composer & lt;b & gt;Sergio Assad & lt;/b & gt; handled guitar arrangements on all tracks, with the exception of “Yesterday” which is the & lt;b & gt;Takemitsu & lt;/b & gt; version Milos first played at university. Tony Award-winning orchestrator and composer & lt;b & gt;Christopher Austin & lt;/b & gt;, a friend of Milos’ from his student days at the Royal Academy, contributed string arrangements on three tracks, and jazz bassist & lt;b & gt;Chris Hill & lt;/b & gt; (who has worked with Jamie Cullum, Annie Lennox and others) provided improvised bass parts to several songs. & lt;br & gt; & lt;br & gt; Milos is delighted at the collaborative nature of the project. & lt;b & gt; & quot; The partnership between George Harrison and Ravi Shankar was one of the most important cross culture collaborations in music. Inviting his daughter Anoushka Shankar, who is one of my absolutely favorite musicians, to join me on ‘Lucy in the Sky with Diamonds’ was a no-brainer. & quot; & lt;/b & gt; The project also marks the first time Milos has worked with pop vocalists. & lt;b & gt; & quot;Recording ‘She’s Leaving Home’ with Tori Amos was a deeply emotional experience, and it was amazing having Gregory Porter on ‘Let It Be’ too. I could not have asked for more. Musically, this project has been the most fun I’ve ever had. & quot; & lt;br & gt; & lt;br & gt; & lt;iframe width='575' height='324' src='http://cache.vevo.com/assets/html/embed.html?video=GBUV71501785 & amp;autoplay=0' frameborder='0' allowfullscreen & gt; & lt;/iframe & gt; & lt;br & gt; & lt;br & gt; Features: & lt;/b & gt; & lt;br & gt; • 180g Vinyl LP & lt;br & gt; • Includes digital download card & lt;br & gt; & lt;br & gt; & lt;b & gt;Selections: & lt;/b & gt; & lt;br & gt; & lt;b & gt;Side A: & lt;/b & gt; & lt;br & gt; 1.
