Nick Cave & The Bad Seeds Push The Sky Away 180g LP (Vinyl)
& lt;b & gt; & lt;font color= & quot;#FF0000 & quot; & gt;Audio Beat Rated 5/5 Music, 3.5/5 Sound! & lt;/b & gt; & lt;/font & gt; & lt;br & gt; & lt;br & gt; & lt;font color= & quot;#FF0000 & quot; & gt; & lt;b & gt;180 Gram Vinyl LP! & lt;/b & gt; & lt;/font & gt; & lt;br & gt; & lt;br & gt; Nick Cave and the Bad Seeds re-emerge with Push the Sky Away, the first recording by this band since 2008. Produced by Nick Launay, the album was recorded at La Fabrique, a studio built inside a 19th century mansion in southern France. The two video singles, “We No Who U R” and “Jubilee Street,” are both darkly beautiful ballads that harken back to the Boatman’s Call and No More Shall We Part, and also contain various loops and electronic textures by the band’s musical director, Warren Ellis. & lt;br & gt; & lt;br & gt; The 15th studio album by Nick Cave and The Bad Seeds is released on their own Bad Seed Ltd. label and is their first album following the departure of founding member Mick Harvey. & lt;br & gt; & lt;br & gt; Describing Push the Sky Away in the album's press release, Nick Cave said & quot;if I were to use that threadbare metaphor of albums being like children, then Push The Sky Away is the ghost-baby in the incubator and Warren's loops are its tiny, trembling heart-beat. & quot; & lt;br & gt; & lt;br & gt; According to Cave, the songs illustrate how the internet has influenced 'significant events, momentary fads and mystically-tinged absurdities' and 'question how we might recognize and assign weight to what's genuinely important'. & lt;br & gt; & lt;br & gt; The cover image features Nick Cave and his wife, Susie Bick, in their own bedroom. & lt;br & gt; & lt;br & gt; & lt;b & gt;“The album surprises continually, offering humor, crises and redemption within the sound of something as lovely and enticing as it is aggressive and challenging.” & lt;/b & gt; - Pastemagazine.com & lt;br & gt; & lt;br & gt; & lt;b & gt; & quot;Relentlessly arty, multimedia savvy and black-and-white bleak... here the moral and emotional desolation are coupled to a strong strain of underlying hope that builds into powerful and beautifully crafted songs. The subject matter might be stark and dark, but just listen to those beautifully measured chord progressions... [T]his is his best album since the deeply emotional The Boatman’s Call... For those who complain that nobody makes albums anymore, this record should come as a breath of fresh air, each transition, from chord to chord or track to track, is weighed with such precision and care. There’s nothing left to chance here, the composition and arrangements as surgically precise as the observing eye is unflinching... No matter how dense the music or the mix, each element is separate and purposeful, there for a reason... [T]he 180-gram LP sounds significantly better than the CD, with more body, separation, dimensionality, presence, color and dynamic range. It brings authority and humanity to Cave’s vocals, qualities that anchor and focus the music... Cave’s familiar concerns with personal flaws and weaknesses as well as wider human fragility blend perfectly with the sheer power of the music and production, making this both a great album in its own right and a fascinating foil for P.J. Harvey’s Let England Shake. Great British pop is alive and well, and on this showing it still kicks. & quot; & lt;/b & gt; - Roy Gregory, theaudiobeat.com, 5/5 Music, 3.5/5 Sound & lt;br & gt; & lt;a href= & quot;http://www.theaudiobeat.com/music/nick_cave_push_sky_lp.htm & quot; & gt; & lt;font color= & quot;#0000FF & quot; & gt; & lt;b & gt;Click Here to read the entire review! & lt;/b & gt; & lt;/font & gt; & lt;/a & gt; & lt;br & gt; & lt;br & gt; & lt;b & gt;Features: & lt;/b & gt; & lt;br & gt; • 180g Vinyl & lt;br & gt; • Limited time download card & lt;br & gt; & lt;br & gt; & lt;b & gt;Selections: & lt;br & gt; Side 1: & lt;/b & gt; & lt;br & gt; 1. Nick Cave Idiot Prayer: Nick Cave Alone At Alexandra Palace 2LP (Vinyl)
& lt;header & gt; & lt;p & gt; & lt;strong & gt;Live Solo Performance On Double LP! & lt;/strong & gt; & lt;/p & gt; & lt;/header & gt; & lt;p & gt; & lt;strong & gt;Stereophile: Performance 5/5 Stars / Sonics 4/5 Stars & lt;/strong & gt; & lt;/p & gt; & lt;p & gt; & lt;strong & gt;TAS Rated 4.5/5 Music, 4/5 Sonics in the March 2021 Issue of The Absolute Sound! & lt;/strong & gt; & lt;/p & gt; & lt;p & gt;Nick Cave performs solo at the piano, in a film shot in June 2020, at the iconic London venue. The film was streamed globally as a live experience, and will be released in cinemals globally in November 2020, featuring four previously unseen performances. The cinema release will be followed by an album available on vinyl. & lt;/p & gt; & lt;p & gt;In this unique performance, audiences around the world had the chance to watch Nick Cave play songs from his extensive back catalogue, including rare tracks that most fans heard for the first time. The songs are taken from across the breadth of Cave's career, including early Bad Seeds and Grinderman, right through to the most recent Nick Cave & amp; The Bad Seeds album, Ghosteen. & lt;/p & gt; & lt;blockquote cite= & quot;www.pitchfork.com & quot; & gt; Idiot Prayer is as up-close and personal an encounter with Cave as there's ever been. But a little mystery remains, always. & lt;footer & gt; -Pitchfork & lt;/footer & gt; & lt;/blockquote & gt; & lt;blockquote cite= & quot;www.stereophile.com & quot; & gt; This double album, and the accompanying film, were recorded at Alexandra Palace in June 2020, when London was in full lockdown... This sense of isolation is captured on the stunning sleeve of this LP, a still from cinematographer Robbie Ryan's film of this streamed concert. Nick Cave sits alone at his piano in the vast hall, light streaming in. It's worth the purchase on vinyl, just for the photograph. In their starkness, the songs match the image. These are songs of grief and remorse, of fear but also hope. None were written for the pandemic; all come from his extensive back catalog, including his work with the Bad Seeds. Yet, they form the perfect commentary on this time. They are totally stripped-down versions. No other musician is present, just the piano to accompany his words. Cave's deep, booming voice is at times as righteous as an Old Testament preacher, whilst at other times it's as gentle as a lover. His songs often reference religion, so when an almost biblical plague is affecting humanity, they resonate more than ever. They speak to the time while articulating the strength of the human spirit. This is a remarkable album. Cave fans will love it, but even those ambivalent about Cave (like me) should give it a listen so as to experience its raw power... this album, with its themes, message, and hope, is global. & lt;footer & gt; -Phil Brett, Stereophile, February 2021 & lt;/footer & gt; & lt;/blockquote & gt; & lt;blockquote cite= & quot;www.theabsolutesound.com & quot; & gt; With its intimate and pristine recording, Idiot Prayer enters a spiritual realm. I was riveted during the entire broadcast, not making a sound, and so it is as I listen to the album now. It's like a prayer. & lt;footer & gt; -Malgorzata Quinn, The Absolute Sound, March 2021, Music 4.5/5, Sonics 4/5 & lt;/footer & gt; & lt;/blockquote & gt; & lt;a name= & quot;SS & quot; & gt; & lt;/a & gt; & lt;iframe width= & quot;560 & quot; height= & quot;315 & quot; src= & quot;https://www.youtube.com/embed/6lWJjvc07oU & quot; frameborder= & quot;0 & quot; allowfullscreen & gt; & lt;/iframe & gt; & lt;br & gt; & lt;br & gt; & lt;section id= & quot;features & quot; & gt; & lt;h3 & gt;Features & lt;/h3 & gt; & lt;ul & gt; & lt;li & gt;Double LP & lt;/li & gt; & lt;li & gt;Made in EU & lt;/li & gt; & lt;/ul & gt; & lt;/section & gt; & lt;section id= & quot;selections & quot; & gt; & lt;h3 & gt;Selections & lt;/h3 & gt; & lt;h4 & gt;Side A: & lt;/h4 & gt; & lt;ol & gt; & lt;li & gt;Spinning Song & lt;/li & gt; & lt;li & gt;Idiot Prayer & lt;/li & gt; & lt;li & gt;Sad Waters & lt;/li & gt; & lt;li & gt;Brompton Oratory & lt;/li & gt; & lt;li & gt;Palaces Of Montezuma & lt;/li & gt; & lt;li & gt;Girl In Amber & lt;/li & gt; & lt;/ol & gt; & lt;h4 & gt;Side B: & lt;/h4 & gt; & lt;ol & gt; & lt;li & gt;Man In The Moon & lt;/li & gt; & lt;li & gt;Nobody's Baby Now & lt;/li & gt; & lt;li & gt;(Are You) Tthe One That I've Been Waiting For? & lt;/li & gt; & lt;li & gt;Waiting For You & lt;/li & gt; & lt;li & gt;The Mercy Seat & lt;/li & gt; & lt;li & gt;Euthanasia & lt;/li & gt; & lt;/ol & gt; & lt;h4 & gt;Side C: & lt;/h4 & gt; & lt;ol & gt; & lt;li & gt;Jubilee Street & lt;/li & gt; & lt;li & gt;Far From Me & lt;/li & gt; & lt;li & gt;He Wants You & lt;/li & gt; & lt;li & gt;Higgs Boson Blues & lt;/li & gt; & lt;li & gt;Stranger Than Kindness & lt;/li & gt; & lt;/ol & gt; & lt;h4 & gt;Side D: & lt;/h4 & gt; & lt;ol & gt; & lt;li & gt;Into My Arms & lt;/li & gt; & lt;li & gt;The Ship Song & lt;/li & gt; & lt;li & gt;Papa Won't Leave You, Henry & lt;/li & gt; & lt;li & gt;Black Hair & lt;/li & gt; & lt;li & gt;Galleon Ship & lt;/li & gt; & lt;/ol & gt; & lt;/section & gt;
