Son Lux Tomorrows 3LP (Vinyl)
& lt;header & gt; & lt;p & gt; & lt;strong & gt;An Album In 3 Parts On Vinyl 3LP! & lt;/strong & gt; & lt;/p & gt; & lt;/header & gt; & lt;p & gt;More pervasive than a virus, anxiety and urgency has spread across our physical and virtual landscapes. The air of the present moment find parallels on the newest body of work by Son Lux: Tomorrows, a long-format album to be released in three volumes over the course of a year. & lt;/p & gt; & lt;p & gt;On Tomorrows, Ryan Lott, Rafiq Bhatia and Ian Chang train their sights on volatile principles: imbalance, disruption, collision, redefinition. But for all of its instability, Tomorrows' exploration of breaking points and sustained frictional places is ultimately in service of something rewarding and necessary: the act of questioning, challenging, tearing down and actively rebuilding one's own identity. & lt;/p & gt; & lt;p & gt;Though Son Lux embraces musical exploration as a foundational practice, the band has never before experimented with format. Tomorrows does away with the restrictions of the traditional album, marking a notable departure in feeling from past releases. Whereas prior Son Lux albums have been packed to the brim with ideas, the three-volume format of Tomorrows affords the music space to breathe and develop. Each release sees songs spun together with liminal instrumental spaces, resulting in a more natural flow while letting sound lead in conveying the complexity and tension of the story. & lt;/p & gt; & lt;p & gt;From the start, Son Lux has operated as something akin to a musical test kitchen, questioning deeply held assumptions and rebuilding music from a molecular level. The band eschews genre conventions in favor of cultivating their own personal musical language rooted in balancing opposites. But on Tomorrows, they sometimes allow the scales to tip, resulting in a galvanizing internal violence that pushes songs to their limits. A prepared guitar melody folds over itself repeatedly, forming a chirping thicket. Drum pulses fan outwards and multiply across registers, aggregating into a throbbing mass. Diving cellos peel apart like weights on a pendulum before snapping together anew. & lt;/p & gt; & lt;p & gt;Son Lux's sound is distinctly individual, a result of their reverence for artists who have carved an iconoclastic path forward. The band's fluid approach to genre and structure draws on the groundwork of soul, hip-hop, and experimental improvisation, owing a debt to forebears as wide-ranging as Bj & amp;#246;rk, Alice Coltrane, D'Angelo, Bob Dylan and J Dilla. While their balancing of raw emotional intimacy and meticulous electronic constructions has earned comparisons to contemporaries like James Blake and Flying Lotus, Son Lux feels that it is the act of distilling their varied influences that has most strongly shaped their identity. On Tomorrows, they conjure vivid, unexpected worlds of sound, evoking textures as different as those of Timbaland and Terry Riley within the same composition. & lt;/p & gt; & lt;p & gt;Arriving at a time of considerable uncertainty in the world, Tomorrows is ambitious in scope and intent. Born of an active, intentional approach to shaping sound, the music reminds us of the necessity of questioning assumptions, and of sitting with the tension. & lt;/p & gt; & lt;blockquote cite= & quot;quote source & quot; & gt; Son Lux's most probing, gorgeous music. & lt;footer & gt; -Pop Matters & lt;/footer & gt; & lt;/blockquote & gt; & lt;blockquote cite= & quot;quote source & quot; & gt; Beams and shards of sounds in many colors, all combining to make something very mesmeric, as always. & lt;footer & gt; -BBC & lt;/footer & gt; & lt;/blockquote & gt; & lt;blockquote cite= & quot;quote source & quot; & gt; A cohesive, multi-album project that gives a sonic voice to the human and planetary apocalypses. & lt;footer & gt; -Beats Per Minute & lt;/footer & gt; & lt;/blockquote & gt; & lt;section id= & quot;features & quot; & gt; & lt;h3 & gt;Features & lt;/h3 & gt; & lt;ul & gt; & lt;li & gt;3LP & lt;/li & gt; & lt;li & gt;3 individual LP jackets bundled together with obi strip, shrink wrapped & lt;/li & gt; & lt;li & gt;Limited time download code for all albums & lt;/li & gt; & lt;/ul & gt; & lt;/section & gt; & lt;section id= & quot;selections & quot; & gt; & lt;h3 & gt;Selections & lt;/h3 & gt; & lt;h4 & gt;Volume I: & lt;/h4 & gt; & lt;ol & gt; & lt;li & gt;Dissolve & lt;/li & gt; & lt;li & gt;Plans We Made & lt;/li & gt; & lt;li & gt;Bending Shadows & lt;/li & gt; & lt;li & gt;Only & lt;/li & gt; & lt;li & gt;Days Past & lt;/li & gt; & lt;li & gt;Honesty & lt;/li & gt; & lt;li & gt;Into Wind & lt;/li & gt; & lt;li & gt;Last Light & lt;/li & gt; & lt;li & gt;Undertow & lt;/li & gt; & lt;li & gt;Involution & lt;/li & gt; & lt;/ol & gt; & lt;h4 & gt;Volume II: & lt;/h4 & gt; & lt;ol & gt; & lt;li & gt;Warning & lt;/li & gt; & lt;li & gt;Molecules & lt;/li & gt; & lt;li & gt;Prophecy & lt;/li & gt; & lt;li & gt;Leaves & lt;/li & gt; & lt;li & gt;Out Of Wind & lt;/li & gt; & lt;li & gt;Apart & lt;/li & gt; & lt;li & gt;Bodies & lt;/li & gt; & lt;li & gt;Weight Of Your Air & lt;/li & gt; & lt;li & gt;Live Another Life & lt;/li & gt; & lt;li & gt;Borrowed Eyes & lt;/li & gt; & lt;/ol & gt; & lt;h4 & gt;Volume III: & lt;/h4 & gt; & lt;ol & gt; & lt;li & gt;Unbind & lt;/li & gt; & lt;li & gt;A Different Kind Of Love & lt;/li & gt; & lt;li & gt;Upend & lt;/li & gt; & lt;li & gt;Plans We Make [feat. Tindersticks Distractions LP (Blue Vinyl)
& lt;header & gt; & lt;p & gt; & lt;strong & gt;New Tindersticks Album On Limited Edition Blue Vinyl LP! & lt;/strong & gt; & lt;/p & gt; & lt;/header & gt; & lt;p & gt;Just before the end of the year 2020, a mere 12 months, after the release of their celebrated record No Treasure But Hope, Tindersticks surprised everyone with mentioning a new album to be released in 2021. & lt;/p & gt; & lt;p & gt;Stuart Staples was already nurturing seeds for a different kind of Tindersticks album before lockdown halted their tour in early 2020. If 2019's No Treasure But Hope saw the band rediscovering themselves as a unit, the follow-up reconfigures that unit so that everything familiar about Tindersticks sounds fresh again. & lt;/p & gt; & lt;p & gt;Distractions is an album of subtle realignments and connections from a restless, intuitive band. Rich in texture and atmosphere, it lives between its open spaces and details, always finding new ways to connect with a song. & lt;/p & gt; & lt;p & gt;If it's an album that resists easy summation, at least one thing is clear: though it isn't untouched by the lockdown, Distractions is not a & quot;lockdown album. & quot; As Staples says, & quot;I think the confinement provided an opportunity for something that was already happening. It is definitely a part of the album, but not a reaction to it. & quot; & lt;/p & gt; & lt;blockquote cite= & quot;www.allmusic.com & quot; & gt; Distractions isn't an album filled with hope, but the search for the comfort and grace it brings is never far from center stage and brings its own sort of warmth to the mix. It's a powerful, evocative work that speaks to the time that created it as well as the continued creative growth of a unique and gifted group of artists. & lt;footer & gt; -Mark Deming, AllMusic.com, 4/5 stars & lt;/footer & gt; & lt;/blockquote & gt; & lt;a name= & quot;SS & quot; & gt; & lt;/a & gt; & lt;iframe width= & quot;560 & quot; height= & quot;315 & quot; src= & quot;https://www.youtube.com/embed/rCOM30iRd7k & quot; frameborder= & quot;0 & quot; allowfullscreen & gt; & lt;/iframe & gt; & lt;section id= & quot;features & quot; & gt; & lt;h3 & gt;Features & lt;/h3 & gt; & lt;ul & gt; & lt;li & gt;Limited Edition & lt;/li & gt; & lt;li & gt;Blue Vinyl & lt;/li & gt; & lt;li & gt;Limited time download code & lt;/li & gt; & lt;/ul & gt; & lt;/section & gt; & lt;section id= & quot;selections & quot; & gt; & lt;h3 & gt;Selections & lt;/h3 & gt; & lt;ol & gt; & lt;li & gt;Man Alone (Can't Stop The Fadin') & lt;/li & gt; & lt;li & gt;I Imagine You & lt;/li & gt; & lt;li & gt;A Man Needs A Maid & lt;/li & gt; & lt;li & gt;Lady With The Braid & lt;/li & gt; & lt;li & gt;You'll Have To Scream Louder & lt;/li & gt; & lt;li & gt;Tue-Moi & lt;/li & gt; & lt;li & gt;The Bough Bends & lt;/li & gt; & lt;/ol & gt; & lt;/section & gt;
