Impex is hoping to change this. Hearing Gould's magnificent pianism, along with the inspired conducting of Leonard Berstein, recorded in the vast acoustical space of the Manhattan Center, we are certain you will find Gould's Beethoven concertos have a rightful place alongside his celebrated Goldberg Variations. & lt;br & gt; & lt;br & gt; With so many workaday renditions of Beethoven concertos, audiophiles rightly tend to look for inspired performances; and every recording by Glen Gould is certainly inspired. Gould is often erratic, but he was also daring, constantly exploring. His lyrical ebb-and-flow reading shines a new light on this well-loved work. With all-analog mastering by Kevin Gray and Impex's usual attention to detail on all facets of production, this new 180-gram pressing will make this Gould and Bernstein triumph a favorite of audiophiles everywhere. & lt;br & gt; & lt;br & gt; & lt;b & gt; & quot;The foremost pianist this continent has produced in recent decades & quot; & lt;/b & gt; - Alfred Frankenstein, High Fidelity Magazine & lt;br & gt; & lt;br & gt; & lt;b & gt; & quot;A pianist of divine guidance & quot; & lt;/b & gt; - Jay Harrison, New York Herald Tribune & lt;br & gt; & lt;br & gt; The Fourth Concerto is the serenest, the most chaste, the most modest (temperamentally, not technically) of the series. And it contains a slow movement of such philosophical eloquence as almost to transgress the bonds of absolute music. Sketchbook evidence suggests that Beethoven was thinking about this Concerto as early as 1804 but it was not completed until 1806. It therefore occupied him over a period of time roughly contemporaneous with the composition and first revision of Fidelio. It was heard first in March, 1807 at a private concert that also included the premieres of the Fourth Symphony and the Coriolan Overture. & lt;br & gt; & lt;br & gt; & lt;b & gt;Features: & lt;/b & gt; & lt;br & gt; 180 Gram Vinyl & lt;br & gt; Numbered, Limited Edition & lt;br & gt; All-Analog Mastering by Kevin Gray & lt;br & gt; Recorded in Vast Acoustic Space of Manhattan Center & lt;br & gt; Limited To 2500 Numbered Copies! & lt;br & gt; & lt;br & gt; & lt;b & gt;Musicians: & lt;/b & gt; & lt;br & gt; Glenn Gould, pianist & lt;br & gt; Leonard Bernstein, conductor & lt;br & gt; New York Philharmonic, orchestra & lt;br & gt; & lt;br & gt; & lt;b & gt;Selections: & lt;br & gt; Ludwig Van Beethoven (1770-1827) & lt;br & gt; Piano Concerto No. 4, in G Major, Op. 58 & lt;br & gt; Side 1: & lt;/b & gt; & lt;br & gt; 1. Art Blakey & The Jazz Messengers Drum Suite Numbered Limited Edition 180g LP (Mono) (Vinyl)
& lt;font color= & quot;#FF0000 & quot; & gt; & lt;b & gt;Numbered, Limited Edition 180g Mono Vinyl! Limited To 2500 Numbered Copies! & lt;br & gt; All-Analog Mastering by Kevin Gray! Pressed at RTI! & lt;/b & gt; & lt;/font & gt; & lt;br & gt; & lt;br & gt; & lt;b & gt;This item not eligible for any further discount offers! & lt;/b & gt; & lt;br & gt; & lt;br & gt; One of the inventors of the modern bebop style of drumming, Blakey is known as a powerful musician and a vital groover; his brand of bluesy, funky hard bop was and continues to be profoundly influential on mainstream jazz. & lt;br & gt; & lt;br & gt; For more than 30 years his band, Art Blakey & amp; The Jazz Messengers included many young musicians who went on to become prominent names in jazz. Recorded in 1956, Art Blakey's Drum Suite is a wonderful hybrid of African, Latin, and hard bop rhythms that prefigures the concept of Afro-beat by at least a decade. The sheer energy, not to mention its very special and fresh-sounding intimacy, make it especially astounding. & lt;br & gt; & lt;br & gt; Even more amazing is that the three parts of the suite -- Blakey's & quot;The Sacrifice, & quot; Ray Bryant's & quot;Cubano Chant, & quot; and Oscar Pettiford's & quot;Oscalypso & quot; -- were recorded straight through live, and were only intended to be a pre-take run-through. As is obvious here, Blakey and company nailed the whole thing right out of the box. & lt;br & gt; & lt;br & gt; Groundbreaking for its time, and still sounding vital, powerful, and visionary, the Drum Suite album is somewhat of a lost masterpiece that deserves a fresh audience. & lt;br & gt; & lt;br & gt; & lt;b & gt; & quot;Art Blakey's first release for Columbia Records is essentially two records. Side one is a percussion ensemble playing what would, ten years later, be called Afro-Cuban drumming. Side two is the mid-fifties version of the Jazz Messengers featuring Jackie McLean on saxophone. Side one features Blakey, Jo Jones and Charles Wright on drums, Candido and Sabu on bongos, and Oscar Pettiford and bass and cello. The group plays three compositions, one by Blakey, one by Pettiford and one by Ray Bryant, fusing African, Cuban, and calypso percussion into a well-integrated suite. & lt;br & gt; & lt;br & gt; & quot;The group recorded a run through and it was so perfectly executed that they used the practice run for the release, unedited except to add some Swahili chants by the percussionists during a few passages. One cannot help but think of Olantunji's Drums of Passion, another Afro drumming landmark, here. Blakey's drum suite was recorded at Columbia's 30th Street studios in New York in 1957 and is in mono. The almost stereoscopic image is truly remarkable. Mastered by Kevin Gray and pressed at RTI, Drum Suite is a valuable record of one of the most important figures in jazz history. Recording: 9/10. Music 9/10. & quot; & lt;/b & gt; - Dennis Davis, & lt;i & gt;Hifi+ & lt;/i & gt; & lt;br & gt; & lt;br & gt; & lt;b & gt; & quot;...The three-part suite was laid down in one take with no arrangements, and begins with a few tympani thwacks followed by an African chant. Soon the ensemble kicks in and the group takes off an a sweaty Afro-Cuban-bop journey that will leave you breathless, as the thing crackles with terrific energy. Side Two is more conventional hard bop, but given this group's mastery of if not invention of the style, these tracks are extremely satisfying. Kevin Gray's remastering is detailed and immediate, with plenty of bit and air, if not the widest dynamic range. For anyone interested in percussion of this genre, this is not to be missed. & quot; & lt;/b & gt; - Wayne Garcia, & lt;i & gt;The Absolute Sound & lt;/i & gt; & lt;br & gt; & lt;br & gt; & lt;b & gt;Features: & lt;/b & gt; & lt;br & gt; & amp;bull; Individually Numbered & lt;br & gt; & amp;bull; Limited To 2500 Numbered Copies! & lt;br & gt; & amp;bull; 180g Vinyl & lt;br & gt; & amp;bull; Mono & lt;br & gt; & amp;bull; All-analog mastering by Kevin Gray & lt;br & gt; & amp;bull; Pressed at RTI & lt;br & gt; & lt;br & gt; & lt;b & gt;Musicians: & lt;/b & gt; & lt;br & gt; Art Blakey, drums & lt;br & gt; Jackie McLean, alto saxophone & lt;br & gt; Oscar Pettiford, bass, cello & lt;br & gt; Spanky DeBrest, bass & lt;br & gt; Bill Hardman, trumpet & lt;br & gt; Ray Bryant, piano & lt;br & gt; Sam Dockery, piano & lt;br & gt; Charles Wright, drums & lt;br & gt; Jo Jones, drums & lt;br & gt; Candido, bongos & lt;br & gt; Sabu Martinez, bongos & lt;br & gt; & lt;br & gt; & lt;b & gt;Selections: & lt;/b & gt; & lt;br & gt; 1. & lt;p & gt;Unlike the majority of previous Davis albums, E.S.P. consisted entirely of new compositions written by members of the group. Despite the profusion of new material, only one tune ( & quot;Agitation & quot;) is known to have appeared in the group's live performances.
& quot;Little One & quot; might be best known for being revisited on Hancock's landmark album, Maiden Voyage, recorded a few weeks later. This version is somewhat more embryonic; Carter's bass is halting, and Davis and Shorter state the theme with winding, interlocking
contrapuntal lines that evoke Davis and Coltrane's version of & quot;Round Midnight & quot;. Hancock's solo on Carter's composition, & quot;Eighty-One & quot;, also presages his work on that LP - particularly its title track. & lt;/p & gt;
& lt;p & gt;The title track is reminiscent of Jackie McLean's & quot;Little Melonae & quot;, which Davis had recorded with John Coltrane in 1956. & quot;Iris & quot;, by contrast, is another Coltrane-like ballad, not too dissimilar to & quot;Infant Eyes & quot; on Shorter's Speak No Evil album. Shortly
thereafter, Shorter's compositions would begin to dominate the Quintet's recordings, though here he contributes only two of the seven songs. & lt;/p & gt;
& lt;p & gt;This was the first time Wayne Shorter recorded with Miles, and the band - in this configuration - had been together for less than a year. As you will hear, the connection between the musicians is uncanny, as if they had been playing together for decades.
Especially notice Wayne Shorter's brilliant interplay with Miles on the closing track & quot;Mood, & quot; the haunting ballad written by bassist Ron Carter. At over forty-eight minutes, E.S.P. is one of the longest jazz albums of its period. & lt;/p & gt;
& quot; & lt;strong & gt;ESP marks the beginning of a revitalization for Miles Davis, as his second classic quintet -- saxophonist Wayne Shorter, pianist Herbie Hancock, bassist Ron Carter, and drummer Tony Williams -- gels, establishing what would become their signature adventurous hard bop. Miles had been moving toward this direction in the two years preceding the release of ESP and he had recorded with everyone outside of Shorter prior to this record, but his addition galvanizes the group, pushing them toward music that was recognizably bop but as adventurous as jazz's avant-garde... [With] a de-emphasis of composition in favor of sheer improvisation, elastic definitions of tonality -- they created a unique sound that came to define the very sound of modern jazz. & quot; & lt;/strong & gt;-

Certainly, many musicians have returned to this group for inspiration, but their recordings remain fresh, because they exist at this fine dividing line between standard bop and avant.

& lt;b & gt; & quot;I gave my test pressing of The Fabulous Johnny Cash LP from Impex a spin this week and was totally blown away! The sound and music on this record is amazing... I've always liked Johnny but had never heard this record... man am I glad I did! The Man in Black at his finest! & quot; & lt;/b & gt; - Bob Bantz, President, Elusive Disc, Inc.
& lt;br & gt; & lt;br & gt;
& lt;b & gt; & quot;Don Law's spare, uncluttered production fills up a room on this vinyl reissue, with a striking balance between Cash's authoritative presence and the nuanced, sensitive instrumental (Tennessee Two and others) and the vocal (Jordanaires) support. Fabulous, indeed. & quot; & lt;/b & gt; - David McGee, The Absolute Sound
& lt;br & gt; & lt;br & gt;
The Fabulous Johnny Cash was the third album by country singer Johnny Cash. Originally released in 1959 by Columbia, soon after his departure from Sun Records.
& lt;br & gt; & lt;br & gt;
Cash's debut Columbia LP contained some of his strongest tunes post Sun Records, including the hits & quot;Blue River & quot; and & quot;I Still Miss Someone & quot; and the now classic & quot;Don't Take Your Guns To Town. & quot; The sonics were smoother, more & quot;studio, & quot; but his voice retained the immediacy and richness that gave his earlier recordings their gravitas and soul. Mastered by Kevin Gray, the cutting engineer who knows when to leave a good thing alone, this is early Johnny Cash the way you remember it - without the noisy, thin vinyl!
& lt;br & gt; & lt;br & gt;
& lt;b & gt; & quot;When Johnny Cash comes on the radio, no one changes the station. It's a voice, a name with a soul that cuts across all boundaries and it's a voice we all believe. Yours is a voice that speaks for the saints and the sinners - It's like branch water for the soul. Long may you sing out. Loud. & quot; & lt;/b & gt; - Tom Waits
& lt;br & gt; & lt;br & gt;
& lt;b & gt; & quot;This IMPEX reissue absolutely crushes the original & quot;6 Eye & quot; editionat least the copy I have. It's far more cleanly rendered, with less watery echo...Cash's voice is & quot;in the room & quot; and that's enough! & quot; & lt;/b & gt;- Michael Fremer, www.musicangle.com, Music 8/10, Sound 9/10 & lt;br & gt; & lt;br & gt;
& lt;b & gt; & quot;Once again, the Impex crew has not only improved upon an original pressing, they've done it in an original way. The sound of this reissue is full and fully integrated, not parsed and scrubbed of its wholeness. Cash's voice is more booming, seemingly coming from deeper within his chest, the twangy reverb complementary instead of overwhelming...Johnny Cash's series of stripped-down albums with producer Rick Rubin are often the way younger listeners first encounter him, his voice far mellower and not as sure. He's in his prime on The Fabulous Johnny Cash, singing with all the power and grip of a young man, and his choice of material is astutely guided. If you think, as I do, that country music has seriously lost its way, this album will remind you just how it has gone off the track. & quot; & lt;/b & gt; - Marc Mickelson, theaudiobeat.com, 4/5 Music, 4/5 Sound! & lt;br & gt; & lt;br & gt;

In 2006, Carol was a winner of the prestigious Nordoff-Robbins Tartan Clef Music Award and in 2017 she received a Lifetime Achievement Award at the Scottish Jazz Awards. Renowned for her impeccable phrasing and delivery along with an unforgettable ability to breathe fresh life into any jazz standard, Carol has cut a distinctive path through the Great American Songbook throughout her career with orchestral and trio backing, as well as performing as a unique and intimate duo with guitarist Nigel Clark. & lt;/p & gt;
& lt;p & gt;A long line of admirers has included Tony Bennett, Vic Damone and Frank Sinatra, who invited her to open for him at a stadium concert where he remarked that, & lt;strong & gt; & quot;Carol Kidd is the best kept secret of British jazz. & quot; & lt;/strong & gt; After a sensational performance at the Tribute to Johnny Mercer show at the Royal Concert Hall in Glasgow, Sir Michael Parkinson observed from the stage that & lt;strong & gt; & quot;If there is a better jazz singer out there I have yet to hear them! & quot; & lt;/strong & gt; Luminaries who have performed alongside Carol as her guests include George Shearing, Georgie Fame, Annie Ross, Benny Carter, Joe Temperley, Bobby Watson and Martin Taylor. & lt;/p & gt;

In the wake of this homecoming, it is impossible to deny that Kidd is one of the most remarkable artists and performers of our time. & lt;/p & gt;

Personally supervised by the artist. & lt;br & gt; & lt;br & gt; 'The Hunter' was released 5 years after her breakthrough with 'Famous Blue Raincoat'. A TOP 100 LP when first released in 1992, The Hunter's audiophile credibility is best summed up by Elliot Scheiner's Grammy nominated recording and mix. It contains the charting single & quot;Rock You Gently, & quot; a sonically dense yet expansive cover of The Waterboy's classic & quot;The Whole of the Moon, & quot; a soulful Jennifer Warnes/Leonard Cohen composition & quot;Way Down Deep, & quot; Todd Rundgren's & quot;Pretending to Care & quot; and even a Donald Fagen tune ( & quot;Big Noise, New York & quot;). She owns every tune here, backed by a-list session players who ground the songs with solid and unobtrusive authority, letting Jennifer's peerless interpretive skills bring the soul of every lyric to the forefront. Ms. Warnes uses her voice to serve the lyric and this allows the song to return the favor. & lt;br & gt; & lt;br & gt; & lt;b & gt; & quot;The follow-up to Warnes' FBR offers crisp percussion cues, solid bass throughout - but especially during & quot;Way Down Deep & quot; - and a surprise chamber quartet on the title track & quot; & lt;/b & gt; - Neil Gader, & lt;i & gt;TAS & lt;/i & gt; Guide to Audiophile Demo Disc & lt;br & gt; & lt;br & gt; Arista (now Sony/BMG) never released The Hunter on vinyl in the U.S. A regular weight LP floated around Europe for a while, but is not noted for exceptional sound or quiet vinyl. & lt;br & gt; & lt;br & gt; & lt;b & gt; & quot;Remastered by Chris Bellman at Bernie Grundman Mastering, the sonics are luscious. Warnes has always had an audiophile's ear and was hands-on with this effort-one of the last from now-defunct Cisco Records. It soars effortlessly, restoring warmth and delicacy, and easily besting the earth-bound but otherwise excellent CD. It's an example of both an artist in full charge of her powers, and analog art its very best. & quot; & lt;/b & gt; - Greg Cahill, & lt;i & gt;The Absolute Sound & lt;/i & gt; & lt;br & gt; & lt;br & gt; & lt;b & gt;Features: & lt;/b & gt; & lt;br & gt; 180g Vinyl & lt;br & gt; All-Tube Mastering & lt;br & gt; Mastered by Chris Bellman at Bernie Grundman & lt;br & gt; Mastered from Original Analog Master Tapes & lt;br & gt; & lt;br & gt; & lt;b & gt;Selections: & lt;br & gt; Side A: & lt;/b & gt; & lt;br & gt; 1. & lt;p & gt;Listen as Impex's 180g vinyl, spinning at 45 revolutions per minute, reveals everything to your hungry, deep-listening ears. Ready to redefine definitive again. & lt;/p & gt;
& lt;p & gt; & lt;strong & gt; & quot;I reviewed the Impex 33 RPM reissue of this same title back in 2018. That was an easy rave review to write, but this new 45 RPM pressing, again from Impex, takes the music to a new level. In addition to the original Columbia LP pressing (which is no slouch on its own), I also compared it to the Sony Gold CD, the Sony K2 SACD, a Sony DSD download, the Speakers Corner/Phillips 180 gram reissue and the Original Recording Group (ORG) 180 gram 45 RPM reissue. & lt;/strong & gt; & lt;/p & gt;
& lt;p & gt; & lt;strong & gt;The differences were not subtle for a recording that I thought was already impressive on all of these releases. This Impex reissue was mastered by Bernie Grundman who also personally cut all the lacquers. Dorin Sauerbierat at RTI did the plating and it was pressed at RTI under Rick Hashimoto's supervision. It astounds me that there was still more information to dig out of those master tapes. Congrats to the entire production team as they have really stepped up their game against some very stiff competition. Also, congrats to Abey Fonn at Impex and Kevin Berg at Elusive Disc for driving this project forward. It was well worth the effort! & lt;/strong & gt; & lt;/p & gt;
& lt;p & gt; & lt;strong & gt;Talk about tangible! There is a correctness of presentation and a visceral like rhythm and drive that is now demonstrated well beyond what I heard before. All of this is executed with a liquidity and timbral purity that is simply amazing. These variables are rarely placed in the proper perspective. Most of the time the sound leans to one side of the fence or the other. Here, there is a balance that is just thrilling! & lt;/strong & gt; & lt;/p & gt;
& lt;p & gt; & lt;strong & gt;Let's not forget about what is most important - the music! Typically used as a standard demo at most audio shows, I feel like this recording is much more than just an audiophile favorite. These highly respected if not world class guitarists were at the top of their game at the time and were virtually on fire in their playing. Now, you can easily tell how much fun they were having as was the audience. The emotion really shines through for both which is always so much more enjoyable. This is an important recording and this new reissue is highly recommended! & quot; & lt;/strong & gt; - Robert Youman, Positive Feedback, 2020 Writer's Choice Award for Album Of The Year & lt;/p & gt;

Kudos to Impex Records on a fantastic reissue of an album that has always been special to many people - Friday Night in San Francisco. The music comes from a trifecta of incredible guitarists: Al Di Meola, the late flamenco maestro Paco de Luc & amp;#237;a,
and the one-and-only John McLaughlin. Pressed on 180g vinyl, the double LP set is superbly remastered. Impex Records is one of the best audiophile labels around. If you liked the original recording from 1981, you must check out this new edition.

This famously outstanding recording has been reissued several times - and this latest edition from Impex sounds fabulous... Impex's reissue crackles with energy and newfound immediacy and 'there-ness,' with a notable sense of dynamic life and snap to the guitar strings and halos of reverberant air surrounding them. Highly recommended.

The Dave Brubeck Quartet Time Further Out: Miro Reflections 180g LP (Vinyl)

& lt;p & gt; & lt;strong & gt;The Sound Is FANTASTIC And The Music Is Even Better! & lt;br & gt;

Time Further Out continues the Dave Brubeck Quartet's exploration of unusual time signatures that began on their 1959 album Time Out. The tracks are ordered by the number of beats per bar, starting with & quot;It's a Raggy Waltz & quot; and & quot;Bluette & quot; in 3/4, & quot;Charles Matthew Hallelujah & quot; in 4/4, & quot;Far More Blue & quot; and & quot;Far More Drums & quot; in 5/4, & quot;Maori Blues & quot; in 6/4, & quot;Unsquare Dance & quot; in 7/4, & quot;Bru's Boogie Woogie & quot; in 8/8, and concluding with & quot;Blue Shadows in the Street & quot; in 9/8. Like the original Time Out album, Time Further Out's cover features a work of modern art: a painting by Spanish artist Joan Miro. & lt;br & gt; & lt;br & gt; & lt;b & gt; & quot;The album is an absolute delight that keeps surprising as it unfolds into tracks such as & quot;Far More Drums, & quot; & quot;Maori Blues, & quot; and the Mingus-like human percussion heard in & quot;Unsquare Dance. & quot; Impex's reissue is excellent... Great stuff. & quot; & lt;/b & gt; - Wayne Garcia, & lt;i & gt;The Absolute Sound & lt;/i & gt; & lt;br & gt; & lt;br & gt; Dave Brubeck, & quot;Time Further Out & quot; mastered from the original analog tape by George Marino at Sterling Sounds in New York and pressed at RTI in Camarillo, California. & lt;br & gt; & lt;br & gt; & lt;b & gt; & quot;Reissued here by the new IMPEX label (headed up by ex Cisco Music & amp;#700;s Abey Fonn) there is much to be grateful for. First, the simple, brave fact of picking the follow-up hit rather than the original which has been reissued who knows how many times, shows at least interest in producing and reissuing those records which undeservedly so have remained locked up in someone & amp;#700;s vaults. Personally, I could really care less about yet another Time Out reissue (or Kind Of Blue for that matter), alas, Time Further Out is in my opinion in fact the better record to begin with, if only perhaps because Time Out has literally been played to death. A mint original I own used to be the benchmark for me; happily I can report that this reissue (mastered by George Marino from the original 2-track tapes) trounces my copy handily. From the first note, there is simply an increased level of information being decoded; backgrounds are quiet, the dynamics of the recording come across fully preserved and quite simply, the record just makes you swing. & quot;Unsquare Dance & quot;, played at respectable levels sounds quite daring and dashing; no wonder it became the record & amp;#700;s hit. & lt;br & gt; & lt;br & gt; & quot;A great follow-up then and an even greater first for IMPEX. Any self respecting Brubeck fan should own a copy; this reissue is a no brainer, even if you were never aware of the record & amp;#700;s existence in first place. Highly recommended! & quot; & lt;/b & gt; - Danny Kaey, & lt;i & gt;Hi Fi Statement & lt;/i & gt; & lt;br & gt; & lt;br & gt; & lt;b & gt; & quot;Time Further Out was re-released by Impex Records and they did a phenomenal job. The sound is FANTASTIC and the music is even better. This, the third-or-so in the time signature series captures the band at a really swinging groove. And Joe Morello's drums. WOW. & quot; & lt;/b & gt; - Jim Kaplan, Record Collector & lt;br & gt; & lt;br & gt; & lt;b & gt;Features: & lt;/b & gt; & lt;br & gt; & amp;bull; 180 Gram Vinyl & lt;br & gt; & amp;bull; All-analog 33 1/3rpm & lt;br & gt; & amp;bull; Mastered by George Marino & lt;br & gt; & lt;br & gt; & lt;b & gt;Musicians: & lt;/b & gt; & lt;br & gt; Dave Brubeck, piano & lt;br & gt; Paul Desmond, alto sax & lt;br & gt; Eugene Wright, bass & lt;br & gt; Joe Morello, drums & lt;br & gt; & lt;br & gt; & lt;b & gt;Selections: & lt;/b & gt; & lt;br & gt; 1. From this almost chance encounter comes The Well, a lovely collection of deeply-felt songs about renewing, rebirthing and reviving. & lt;br & gt; & lt;br & gt; Songs on The Well feature stories about life-defining passages & quot;Prairie Melancholy, & quot; rebirth & quot;The Well, & quot; conquering fear & quot;The Panther, & quot; Thankfulness & quot;The Nightingale, & quot; a relationship at the cross-roads & quot;And So It Goes, & quot; appreciation & quot;Patriot's Dream & quot; and discoveries & quot;You Don't Know Me. & quot; Jennifer Warnes has chosen pieces that hint their deeper meanings. There are no soap-boxes with which to preach The Well. & lt;br & gt; & lt;br & gt; Produced by Jennifer Warnes and composer/producer Martin Davich (ER), this largely acoustic album freely explores folk, pop, roots, blues and jazz. The singer has collected stellar musical talent to flesh out her vision, including; Arlo Guthrie, Doyle Bramhall (along with his son Doyle II), Rick Cunha, Vinnie Colaiuta, Dean Parks, Blondie Chaplin, George Doering, Leland Sklar, Abraham Laboriel, Lenny Castro, Van Dyke Parks and many others. On the technical side, the brilliant sound of The Well was crafted by Mark Johnson, Frank Wolf, George Massenburg, Elliot Scheiner, John Cevetello, Paul Deiter and Mark Cross. & lt;br & gt; & lt;br & gt; & lt;b & gt; & quot;Jennifer Warnes is one of the most underrated pop singers of her generation. Her albums, though few and far between, brim with melody and craft - and lyrics both intelligent and emotionally weighted... The songs are lovingly produced, inventively orchestrated, and stocked with a who's who of studio musicians. & amp;nbsp; But Warnes' expressive vocals overshadow all. & amp;nbsp; She's a signer who asks a lot of her gifts, always searching for finer degrees of nuance and dynamics like a painter mixing color on a palette. The reissue from Impex Records (staffed by former Cisco émigrés) is a model for the premium LP industry. & amp;nbsp; Its two-disc 45rpm 180-gram pressings are presented in an individually numbered wood box with a twelve-page, large format booklet that includes notes and lyrics. & amp;nbsp; Bernie Grundman presided over the all-tube remastering. & amp;nbsp; Sonically (is) this about as good as it gets from a studio-bred multi-track - fabulous acoustic textures, deep bass, and awesome ambience. & amp;nbsp; A vinyl lover's dream come true. & quot; & lt;/b & gt; & lt;b & gt; - Music: 4 1/2 out of 5; Sonics: 5 out of 5 & lt;/b & gt; - Neil Gader, & lt;i & gt;The Absolute Sound & lt;/i & gt; & lt;br & gt; & lt;br & gt; & lt;b & gt; & quot;The first thing you notice about this box set is its museum quality packaging. Instead of cardboard, the box is constructed of wood and impeccably finished with the highest quality paper stock. It's easily one of the most beautiful record boxes ever. Inside the box, an equally gorgeous booklet and photo insert provide lyrics and production notes. How can the audio production live up to such a gorgeous packaging, I wondered... Warnes' singing is captivating on each number, but her rendition of & quot;You Don't Know Me & quot; with Doyle Bramhall stand comparison with Ray Charles' classic version. The LPs were mastered by Bernie Grundman and the sound is to die for. & lt;font color= & quot;#FF0000 & quot; & gt; & lt;b & gt;If my usual scale goes up to 10, I'm giving this an eleven. It's so good sounding it's hard to listen to anything afterwards. & lt;/font & gt; & lt;/b & gt;A home run that gets my highest recommendation. & quot; & lt;/b & gt; - DD, Hi-fi+ & lt;br & gt; & lt;br & gt; & lt;b & gt;Features: & lt;/b & gt; & lt;br & gt; Individually Numbered, Limited Edition! & lt;br & gt; Limited To 6000 Numbered Copies! The resulting album Famous Blue Raincoat has remained a touchstone of American pop. It's a recording as beautiful as the songs incisive, painstakingly created by some of the finest musicians and engineers ever assembled. It has rightfully remained immensely popular for aficionados of sound and song-craft. & lt;br & gt; & lt;br & gt; Impex Records has enjoyed a long and rich collaboration wiht Jennifer Warnes. Much anticipated album! First new release in over a decade! Beautifully recorded and carefully mastered. & lt;br & gt; & lt;br & gt; Reuniting with bassist-composer Roscoe Beck (who co-produced her seminal classic Famous Blue Raincoat), Ms. Warnes shapes ten classic tunes into a timeless narrative of living, loving and making sense of changing times. & lt;br & gt; & lt;br & gt; One of the most-loved singers of our time, Jennifer Warnes has returned with a modern-day masterpiece called Another Time, Another Place. With glorious production and performances, and of course, impeccable vocals, Another Time, Another Place features the cream of the crop of songwriters including Eddie Vedder ( & quot;Just Breathe & quot;), Mark Knopfler ( & quot;Why Worry & quot;), John Legend, Warren Haynes, Derek Trucks and more. & lt;br & gt; & lt;br & gt; Joining Warnes are brilliant musicians and friends such as Dean Parks (Steely Dan, Bob Dylan), pedal steel king Greg Liesz (k.d. lang, Eric Clapton) and drummer Vinnie Colaiuta (Frank Zappa, Sting). Jennifer Warnes has always been known as someone who makes beautifully crafted records with an open heart, unafraid to show emotion and love through her work. It's the perfect time for Another Time, Another Place. & lt;br & gt; & lt;br & gt; Jennifer's long-time mastering engineer Bernie Grundman artfully brings out all the detail, presence and harmonic body of this amazingly life-like recording. Impex's luxe 180-gram vinyl presentation features an impeccably quiet pressing by RTI, a heavy stock tip-on gatefold jacket that includes a large-format 16-page booklet of lyrics and photographs. & lt;br & gt; & lt;br & gt; Every new album Jennifer Warnes creates is a showcase of musical beauty, lovingly crafted and gorgeously performed. We can expect nothing less of one of the worlds greatest interpretive singers. & lt;br & gt; & lt;br & gt; & lt;b & gt; & quot;I had a series of losses, & quot; & lt;/b & gt; she says. & lt;b & gt; & quot;Horrible losses. Many in a row. It shook me up quite a bit. My mother was my significant other person, and went all over the world with me, and was the one who believed in me. She died in 2001. In 2013, my two sisters died a week apart unexpectedly. Then my manager was hit and run, and died instantly, close to the death of my two sisters, and then I put my dog down. Then Leonard Cohen died. & quot; & lt;/b & gt; & lt;br & gt; & lt;br & gt; Perhaps not coincidentally, it's Roscoe Beck producer of Famous Blue Raincoat and Cohen's musical director in his final years who acts as Another Time, Another Place's co-producer, helping the 71-year-old find a way to express her sadness. & lt;br & gt; & lt;br & gt; It wasn't purely despair at her own losses that, for the first time since The Well, provoked Warnes' formal return to the studio or, more accurately, Beck's kitchen, where they had to turn off the air conditioning and fridge to record. She also had more altruistic reasons. & lt;br & gt; & lt;br & gt; & lt;b & gt; & quot;The depth of pain, & quot; & lt;/b & gt; she explains, & lt;b & gt; & quot;that a person goes through at certain chapters of their lives is
& quot; & lt;/b & gt; & lt;br & gt; & lt;br & gt; Her voice trails off before she again tries to explain her motives. & lt;br & gt; & lt;br & gt; & lt;b & gt; & quot;You can't really share that, but I felt I could make a record that would offer comfort to people going through stuff similar to me. It was really important and intentional to make a tender record. The world is in such distress, so the sound of a woman's voice being tender in a recording that could be sent all over the world that was clean, clear, wise and enjoyable might help. It would help me to do it, and it would help others to do it, so you feel that it delivers some kind of sanity. That's a good thing to give to somebody. & lt;br & gt; & lt;br & gt; & quot;In my younger years, & quot; & lt;/b & gt; she adds, sipping white tea, & lt;b & gt; & quot;you wanted to give them a sexier feeling. You wanted to give them a 'Tear The Door Down' feeling. At this time of life, it was like, 'Oh my God, there's so many suffering people!' I don't have one friend that doesn't have something going on in their lives. So what's my job? If you take that little CD and it fills an hour of your time, it ought to make you feel something. It ought to cure something. Who wants a goody two-shoes record that makes you feel unreasonably happy in a world like this? That was the question I asked myself: 'What does it mean to make music that helps others?' & quot; & lt;br & gt; & lt;/b & gt; & lt;br & gt; It's hard to believe she could have succeeded better. Another Time, Another Place boasts rare poignancy, unfiltered vulnerability and genuine compassion: a feminine counterpart, one might say, to Johnny Cash's final releases. Its skeletal arrangements and refined production reveal Warnes' extraordinary sensitivity, something underlined by its opening song, a startling cover of Pearl Jam's Just Breathe (from 2009's Backspace). Its selection, suitably, was provoked less by an urge to surprise people than for its sentiment, which encapsulates much of what makes the record so special. & lt;b & gt; & quot;Yes, I understand, & quot; & lt;/b & gt; Warnes's warm voice trembles, & lt;b & gt; & quot;every life must end, & quot; & lt;/b & gt; before adding & lt;b & gt; & quot;I'm a lucky one, to count on both hands the ones I love. & quot; & lt;br & gt; & lt;/b & gt; & lt;br & gt; The rest of the album is equally wistful, whether John Legend's delicate & quot;Once I Was Loved & quot;, in which she forgives a woman interacting with her former lover, or the elegantly laidback & quot;The Boys And Me & quot;, which she co-wrote with Michael Smotherman a songwriter and touring member of Captain Beefheart's band or the reassuring & quot;Why Worry & quot;, penned by Mark Knopfler for Brothers In Arms. & lt;br & gt; & lt;br & gt; & lt;b & gt; & quot;This is a real treat for the ears. The perfect guitar tone, the decay of the notes beautifully natural, the instrument separation and vocal layering on this record sounded spot-on in all the tracks I heard across several systems. But the 'Why Worry' cover on the M2s was magical. A superbly musical presentation from both LP and playback. Indeed, we need not worry as audiophiles. We have talent like Jennifer Warnes returning after 17 years sounding as spectacular as ever. And we have fine people like Abey Fonn, Laurence Aston, and Bernie Grundman making sure the beauty of her voice and the other instruments come through as clean and natural as possible. I suggest you get a copy whatever your digital or analog proclivities. You won't be disappointed. & quot; & lt;/b & gt; - Lee Scoggins, Part-Time Audiophile, High End Munich 2019 & lt;a href= & quot;https://parttimeaudiophile.com/2019/06/09/jennifer-warnes-another-time-another-place-high-end-2019/ & quot; & gt; & lt;b & gt; & lt;font color= & quot;#0000FF & quot; & gt;Read more! & lt;/font & gt; & lt;/b & gt; & lt;/a & gt; & lt;br & gt; & lt;br & gt; & lt;b & gt; & quot;Yes, this is the Famous Blue Raincoat Jennifer Warnes, who released this celebrated album in 1986, which not only inspired many other singer-songwriters to do the same which, I'm afraid, were not nearly as successful mostly because they weren't covering songs of Leonard Cohen, which on her album seemed not like only a perfect match for Ms. Warnes, but apparently this match was also appreciated by fans of both hers and Mr. Cohen's. Impex released an audiophile quality 180-gram vinyl release of that album four years ago, and now has this new album, Another Time, Another Place as another album that sounds as good, but maybe even better than that older record. This is the first Jennifer Warnes album in 17 years! This time out Jennifer Warnes interprets modern but now classic tunes written by songwriters many will recognize, including but not limited to Derek Trucks, Eddie Vedder, John Legrand, Mark Knopfler, and Warren Haynes and she also adds a couple of originals to the mix. Sonically, this LP will have audiophiles saying the same thing as the Legrand Jazz album, except this is a modern recording made with modern equipment. This LP was also mastered by Bernie Grundman, and pressed at RTI. It includes a 'large format' 16-page booklet of lyrics and photos inside its thick gatefold sleeve. It's also available on Impex on SACD with bonus track not on the LP. & quot; & lt;/b & gt; - Tom Lyle, www.enjoythemusic.com, July 2019 & lt;br & gt; & lt;br & gt; & lt;b & gt; & quot;Despite Warnes' Southern California roots, the country twang in her voice, so delicate and vulnerable, lends added depth to the music. Along with The Well, this LP has found a permanent spot in that part of my shelves that contains my Joni Mitchell, Joan Baez and Emmylou Harris records -- music I turn to when I need a break from the testosterone levels of most pop music and want to look inward. The session was digitally recorded in 2018 for release on CD by bass player and longtime collaborator Roscoe Beck, aided by mix engineer Noah Snyder, and mastered by Bernie Grundman. The Impex vinyl reissue was also mastered by Grundman and pressed at RTI. While not quite the equal in sound to The Well, it has nothing digital-sounding about it. The instruments (string, electric, resonator and lap guitars, violin, percussion, piano and organ in various combinations) all occupy well-defined spaces, and the voices (Warnes' as well as those of occasional backup singers) are three-dimensional and warm. & quot; & lt;/b & gt; - Dennis Davis, The Audio Beat, July 2019, Music 4/5, Sound 4.5/5 & lt;br & gt; & lt;br & gt; & lt;b & gt; & quot;Abey Fonn and the entire team at IMPEX Records continue to impress and delight. Though we have only just passed the halfway point for the year 2019, these new vinyl releases entitled Another Time, Another Place from Jennifer Warnes and Lo Que Nice Mi Cantar from Trio Palabras are already strong contenders for my favorite albums of the year. And boy do these recordings really deliver the goods! Dead quiet record surfaces and dynamics to die for, my bet is that these records will probably sound outstanding on any system (regardless of system investment). These are unquestionably demo quality recordings but they both have much much more to offer! Of course, none of this extraordinary sound matters if the performance and music cannot reach deep down into your soul and make an emotional connection. IMHO, these recordings easily deliver on this too and will provide a very satisfying if not extremely rewarding experience. IMPEX has clearly added two more triumphs to their extensive music portfolio and legacy. & lt;br & gt; & lt;br & gt; Another Time, Another Place can compete with any of her previous releases. Jennifer's voice is still strong and incredibly soulful if not effortless and harmonically pure. Tthe overall sound is exemplary with a rhythmic vitality and coherence that will quickly grab your attention. Arrangements are more simple and nuanced than the past, but I still found that the entire album was rendered with an additional freshness and energy. My favorite tracks include several covers from the likes of Eddie Vedder ('Just Breathe'), Derek Trucks ('Back Where I Started'), and John Legend ('Once I Was Loved'). The album ends with the Mark Knofler classic 'Why Worry' from the Dire Straits album Brothers In Arms. I never thought the original could be bettered, but the magical dance between Jennifer's lush sensual voice and Gabriel Santiago's colorful acoustic guitar provides a lifelike immediacy that will warm your heart. Another killer recording and performance from Jennifer Warnes. & quot; & lt;/b & gt; - Robert S. For an Oscar/Grammy winner, she's happy to sing backing for others (including my hero, Chris Hillman), but when she puts her name on the sleeve, the material has to match that artistic highpoint of her career: that LP's worth of Leonard Cohen songs. Here she again shows her skills as a peerless interpreter, with songs by Pearl Jam's Eddie Vedder, Mickey Newbury, Mark Knopfler, et al. Warnes moves faultlessly from genre to genre, and the Bernie Grundman-mastered sound - with rich pedal steel, Hammond organ, slide guitar, a choral group and much more - makes it wholly deserving of the Impex imprint. Underscoring Warnes' wide-ranging talent are the cherished classics & quot;Tomorrow Night & quot; and & quot;I See Your Face Before Me', where the lush string orchestration recalls Nelson Riddle... the spare arrangements are as cozy as a porch swing... Sonics on the 180-gram LP sport smooth airy highs and a full presence range. Though Warnes is in her early 70s, her voice has aged gracefully, her highest notes a bit more earthbound, yet filled with interpretive elasticity and luminance, and of course, glorious phrasing. & lt;p & gt;Jazz writer Walter Kolovsky has said that & lt;strong & gt;Friday Night In San Francisco & lt;/strong & gt; & quot;may be the most influential of all acoustic guitar albums. & quot; LPs of it have been a demonstration staple on turntables around the world for over 40 years. To celebrate the lasting
impact of this singular album and the legendary concert that it represents, Impex Records is proud to announce the long-awaited follow up: & lt;strong & gt;Saturday Night In San Francisco & lt;/strong & gt;. & lt;/p & gt;
& lt;p & gt;Working with hours of original 16-track live session tapes, Al Di Meola and his team have brilliantly curated this musical tour-de-force, bringing to life for the first time on LP, SACD-Hybrid and CD the explosively virtuosic final performance of Di Meola,
John McLaughlin, and Paco De Lucia at the Warfield Theater in San Francisco, December 6, 1980. In the exclusive essay by music historian Charles L. Granata, Di Meola says of that final night: & lt;strong & gt; & quot;It's exciting because the audience was right there with us, savoring every single note of music. And, we were ripping. It was crazy good! & quot; & lt;/strong & gt; & lt;/p & gt;
& lt;p & gt;Impex worked carefully with Di Meola, mixing engineer Roy Hendrickson (SPIN Studio), and mastering engineer Bernie Grundman to recreate the magic of & lt;strong & gt;Friday Night In San Francisco & lt;/strong & gt; so these never-before-released solos and trios burst out of your system
with striking clarity, dynamics and technical brilliance. & quot;Crazy good, & quot; indeed. & lt;/p & gt;

Art Blakey & The Jazz Messengers Hard Bop Numbered Limited Edition 180g LP (Mono) (Vinyl)
& lt;font color= & quot;#FF0000 & quot; & gt; & lt;b & gt;Limited To 2500 Numbered Copies! & lt;br & gt; 180 Gram Vinyl! Cut from the Original Analog Mono Master Tapes by Kevin Gray and Robert Pincus! Pressed at RTI! & lt;/b & gt; & lt;/font & gt; & lt;br & gt; & lt;br & gt; & lt;b & gt;This item not eligible for any further discount offers! & lt;/b & gt; & lt;br & gt; & lt;br & gt; Some of the greatest jazz musicians of all time have passed through Art Blakey's Jazz Messengers: Horace Silver, Hank Mobley, Kenny Dorham, Wayne Shorter and Donald Byrd, among many others. However brief their stay, working with the demanding and full-throttle drummer not only increased their visibility, but also their chops and interpretive capacity. Blakey's ability to drum up the best players in the game may have even eclipsed his superhuman ability to play drums. & lt;br & gt; & lt;br & gt; Altoist Jackie McLean, trumpeter Bill Hardman, bassist Spanky deBrest, and pianist Sam Dockery deliver whole-bop goodness on five propulsive, fiery tracks. True to its title, this LP bops hard, with a ferocious swing, boundless energy and telepathic communication between players - especially Blakey and Hardman. Considering the rhythmic demands of Blakey's locomotive playing style, this was an incredible achievement. & lt;br & gt; & lt;br & gt; Impex Records has cut this gorgeous 180-gram LP with the original analog mono master tapes and without computer processing of any kind. You hear all the vivacious interplay that occured on that weekend in 1957 when Blakey and crew forged a bold new vision of muscular, funky jazz. This is music that still resonates over 50 years later. Not to be missed! & lt;br & gt; & lt;br & gt; & lt;b & gt;Features: & lt;/b & gt; & lt;br & gt; 180 Gram Vinyl & lt;br & gt; Numbered & lt;br & gt; Mono Edition & lt;br & gt; Limited To 2500 Numbered Copies! & lt;br & gt; Cut from the Original Analog Mono Master Tapes by Kevin & quot;Dr. Groove & quot; Gray and Robert & quot;Mr. Record & quot; Pincus & lt;br & gt; Pressed at RTI & lt;br & gt; & lt;br & gt; & lt;b & gt;Musicians: & lt;/b & gt; & lt;br & gt; Jackie McLean, alto saxophone & lt;br & gt; Bill Hardman, trumpet & lt;br & gt; Spanky deBrest, bass & lt;br & gt; Sam Dockery, piano & lt;br & gt; Art Blakey, drums & lt;br & gt; & lt;br & gt; & lt;b & gt;Selections: & lt;br & gt; Side 1: & lt;/b & gt; & lt;br & gt; 1. This group was subtle, mature and confident, easily supporting Monk's more idiosyncratic side-tracks (check out the solo on & quot;Locomotive & quot; or the restless exposition on & quot;Japanese Folk Song & quot;) while allowing listeners freedom to move through or contemplate all the sublime subtexts Monk conjures from the endless well of his inspiration. & lt;br & gt; & lt;br & gt; This emphasis on laid back and mature presentation aided the recording as well. These master tapes sound amazing and getting them to disc was a pure pleasure. Subtle changes in atmosphere, tone and melody fill the space between the speakers, a wide soundstage and expansive dynamics the gift of music indelibly played. This is one sonic powerhouse for the ages. & lt;br & gt; & lt;br & gt; Available for the first time on 180-gram 2-LP with the full performances of the original tracks and including two bonus tracks, this new Impex release gets you closer to Monk's genius than ever before. Kevin Gray and Robert Pincus used analog master tapes and minimal processing to great effect, while original session and jacket images were culled to create the deluxe gatefold jacket. Add in the sound-of-silence pressings from RTI and you have a can't miss jazz disc ready to delight and inspire every time it spins on your turntable. Impex has pulled out all the stops on this mesmerizing Monk classic. Recognized as one of the most inventive pianists of any musical genre, Monk achieved a startlingly original sound that even his most devoted followers have been unable to successfully imitate. His musical vision was both ahead of its time and deeply rooted in tradition, spanning the entire history of the music from the stride masters of James P. Johnson and Willie the Lion Smith to the tonal freedom and kinetics of the avant garde. And he shares with Edward Duke Ellington the distinction of being one of the centurys greatest American composers. At the same time, his commitment to originality in all aspects of lifein fashion, in his creative use of language and economy of words, in his biting humor, even in the way he danced away from the pianohas led fans and detractors alike to call him eccentric, mad or even taciturn. Consequently, Monk has become perhaps the most talked about and least understood artist in the history of jazz. & lt;br & gt; & lt;br & gt; After extended negotiations, Monk signed in 1962 to Columbia Records, one of the big four American record labels of the day along with RCA Victor, Capitol, and Decca. Monk's relationship with Riverside had soured over disagreements concerning royalty payments and had concluded with a brace of European live albums; he had not recorded a studio album since 5 by Monk by 5 in June 1959. & lt;br & gt; & lt;br & gt; Working with producer Teo Macero on his debut for the label, the sessions in the first week of November had a stable line-up that had been with him for two years: tenor saxophonist Charlie Rouse (who worked with Monk from 1959 to 1970), bassist John Ore, and drummer Frankie Dunlop. Monk's Dream, his earliest Columbia album, was released in 1963. Columbia's resources allowed Monk to be promoted more widely than earlier in his career. Monk's Dream would become the best-selling LP of his lifetime, and on February 28, 1964, he appeared on the cover of Time magazine, being featured in the article & quot;The Loneliest Monk & quot;. & lt;br & gt; & lt;br & gt; & lt;b & gt;Highly Reviewed at HiFi+ - 10 out of 10 for Recording & amp; Music!!! & lt;br & gt; & quot;The sound of this new issue is to die for and then some. Impex releases only a handful of LPs each year, but its track record for taste and great sound is unrivaled. Perfect in every way! & quot; & lt;/b & gt; - Dennis Davis, HiFi+ & lt;br & gt; & lt;br & gt; & lt;b & gt; & quot;Monk's Dream is the Columbia Records debut release featuring the Thelonious Monk Quartet: Monk (piano), Charlie Rouse (tenor sax), John Ore (bass), and Frankie Dunlop (drums). Jazz scholars and enthusiasts alike also heralded this combo as the best Monk had been involved with for several years. Although he would perform and record supported by various other musicians, the tight -- almost telepathic -- dimensions that these four shared has rarely been equalled in any genre... Monk's Dream is recommended, with something for every degree of Monk enthusiast. & quot; & lt;/b & gt; - Lindsay Planer, Allmusic.com & lt;br & gt; & lt;br & gt; & lt;b & gt; & quot;With only one horn out front to solo, we get a great double dose of Monk both as soloist and as a rhythm section player. Not that there was a hell of a lot of difference between the two in his playing, but it's wonderful to hear him briefly hanging in the back as an accompanist playing the changes and adding his angular spin on rhythm and melody as the horn player did the heavy lifting. Then he'd jump out front and you'd get these elliptical leads that twirled and jabbed, leapt and pushed... 'Monk's Dream' is the signature album by one of jazz's signature artist. & quot; & lt;/b & gt; - Spinner.com & lt;br & gt; & lt;br & gt; & lt;b & gt; & quot;If this record doesn't get your feet tapping and your head nodding (and not as in & quot;out & quot;!) I'm not sure what would... The recording trades natural space for honest tonality and incredible immediacy and excellent dynamics. Where Monk solos on the standards he gets a big spread across the stage almost taken from his keyboard perspective... Here the transparency, immediacy and transient clarity surpass that of the original and without losing any of the original's more attractive qualities. The reissue is surely lower in distortion on the dynamic peaks and the blacker backgrounds heighten the instrumental relief... A great reissue and very highly recommended... If you have no Monk albums, this would be a good place to start. & quot; & lt;/b & gt; - Michael Fremer, www.analogplanet.com, Music 9/10, Sound 9/10! & lt;br & gt; & lt;br & gt; & lt;b & gt; & quot;Produced by Teo Macero, Monk's Dream was the first LP for his new label, and would also become the best selling of Monk's career... The sound here, as compared to original mono and stereo pressings, is more dynamically nimble and present, as well as tonally somewhat cooler. But if the early LPs sound warmer, they also have a hooded coloration that floats over the sound, making them sound more homogenized, and not as lively as this fine Impex reissue. & quot; & lt;/b & gt; - Wayne Garcia, The Absolute Sound, Music 4/5, Sonics 3.5/5 & lt;br & gt; & lt;br & gt; & lt;b & gt;Features: & lt;br & gt; First Time Available on Heavy-Weight 180 Gram Vinyl & lt;br & gt; Audiophile All-Analog Pressing & lt;br & gt; Mastered Impeccably from the Original Master Tapes & lt;br & gt; Mastered by Kevin Gray & lt;br & gt; Stereo & lt;br & gt; Pressed at RTI & lt;br & gt; & lt;br & gt; & lt;b & gt;Musicians: & lt;br & gt; & lt;/b & gt;Thelonious Monk, piano & lt;br & gt; Charlie Rouse, tenor sax & lt;br & gt; John Ore, bass & lt;br & gt; Frankie Dunlop, drums & lt;br & gt; & lt;br & gt; & lt;b & gt;Selections: & lt;br & gt; & lt;/b & gt;1. The 1975 album & quot;That's The Way Of the World & quot; was also the soundtrack for a 1975
motion picture of the same name which featured some of the band members of
Earth, Wind, & amp; Fire in cameo roles. The album includes the ballad & quot;Reasons & quot;
alongside the #1 US pop and R & amp;B hit single & quot;Shining Star & quot; as well as the title
track which reached #12 on the pop chart. & lt;br & gt;

& lt;br & gt;
& lt;b & gt; & quot;Earth, Wind & amp; Fire has delivered more than its share of excellent albums,
but if a person could own only one EWF release, the logical choice would be
That's the Way of the World, which was the band's best album as well as its
best-selling. Open Our Eyes had been a major hit and sold over half a million
units, but it was World that established EWF as major-league, multi-platinum
superstars. Fueled by gems ranging from the sweaty funk of & quot;Shining Star & quot; and & quot;Yearnin'
Learnin' & quot; to the gorgeous ballad & quot;Reasons & quot; and the unforgettable title song,
EWF's sixth album sold at least five million units. And some of the tracks that
weren't major hits, such as the exuberant & quot;Happy Feelin' & quot; and the
gospel-influenced & quot;See the Light, & quot; are equally powerful. There are no dull
moments on World, one of the strongest albums of the 1970s and EWF's crowning
achievement. & quot; & lt;/b & gt; - allmusic.com & lt;br & gt;

A historic collaboration by two of jazz music's greatest artists is finally available on 180g Double LP Set! Impex Records' deluxe production captures the amazing outdoor acoustics with fine detail and wide dynamic range. The beautiful gatefold jacket is coated in a vintage high-gloss lacquer. & lt;br & gt; & lt;br & gt; The White House Sessions, Live 1962 contains inspired performances of classic tunes & quot;Take Five & quot;, & quot;Castilian Blues & quot;, & quot;Lullaby of Birdland & quot;, and & quot;I Left My Heart In San Francisco & quot;. & lt;br & gt; & lt;br & gt; & lt;b & gt; & quot;Bennett's vocals are particularly natural and present-sounding... Brubeck's group in its prime, with Paul Desmond on Alto, Eugene Wright on bass and Joe Morello on drums... Bennett/Brubeck is nonetheless a record I found myself playing more times than I expected to before sitting down to write this. There's something about a live performance from a time when life was so much simpler, even if more jittery and dangerous because of the cold war, that makes you want to go back in time and enjoy it all again. & quot; & lt;/b & gt; - Michael Fremer, & lt;i & gt;www.analogplanet.com, & lt;/i & gt; 8/11 Music, 8/11 Sound & lt;br & gt; & lt;br & gt; For the first time ever on 180g LP, this two LP set is beautifully re-mastered and the original artwork has been carefully replicated. & lt;br & gt; & lt;br & gt; Two remarkable visionaries at the peak of their powers, Dave Brubeck and his quartet and Tony Bennett (both with his group and with Bennett with trio) give hot performances of some of their biggest hits: Brubeck's revved up & quot;Take Five, & quot; and Tony Bennett's soulful & quot;I Left My Heart in San Francisco. & quot; & lt;br & gt; & lt;br & gt; Playing the popular White House Sessions concert on the Washington Mall for President John F. Kennedy, these titans of popular jazz have a great time informing, joking and playing the lights out. You'll want to play the grooves out of Impex's impeccably produced issue of this lost treasure. Quiet surfaces, incredible dynamics, full frequency responses and deluxe packaging will provide years of listening and viewing pleasure. & lt;br & gt; & lt;br & gt; & lt;b & gt; & quot;This is intimacy with a capital 'I', a long-forgotten set performed on the Washington Mall for President Kennedy. Brubeck naturally offered 'Take Five' and three more; Bennett obliged with 'I Left My Heart In San Francisco', 'Lullaby of Broadway', 'One For My Baby', 'Rags To Riches', 'Just In Time' and five morefour with Brubeck's backing. This is one to treasure. & quot; & lt;/b & gt; - Ken Kessler, Hifi News Magazine, August 2016 & lt;br & gt; & lt;br & gt; & lt;b & gt; & quot;I'm all for hearing ever-improved re-reissues of old favorites, often on spectacular-sounding 45rpm platters. But it's also really nice to receive something fresh, and this never-before-released gem recorded live in August of 1962 at the White House Seminar American Jazz Concert is pretty wonderful. Disc one features the Dave Brubeck Quartet, which kicks off with a fast-paced rendition of 'Take Five.' As usual Paul Desmond's sweet-sounding alto is a highlight, and the band really cooks throughout its four tracks. Bennett gets to shine on the second LP, delivering a joyful set with his trio that culminates in 'I Left My Heart In San Francisco.' The Brubeck group, sans Desmond, joins Bennett for the final side's unrehearsed set of tour tunes, and it's a treat to hear Bennett perform with a more swinging jazz group. The tape was discovered in 2012, and Kevin Gray and Impex's Robert Pincus mastered the two-LP vinyl edition. The concert was recorded outdoors at the Sylvan Theater, so don't expect spectacular sonics. Still, the sound is quite clean (if a tad lean), the balance is excellent, and there's plenty of dynamic snap (check out Morello's drum solo on 'Castillian Blues') and good energy in these grooves. & quot; & lt;/b & gt; - Wayne Garcia, The Absolute Sound, July/August 2016 & lt;br & gt; & lt;br & gt; & lt;b & gt; & quot;In late August of 1962, two musicians at the height of their popularity performed separately and together (for the first time) before an audience at the Sylvan Theater in the shadow of the Washington Monument. History was being made, and producer Teo Macero wanted all to go well. The concert featuring Tony Bennett and Dave Brubeck went as planned, but later Murphy's Law reared its ugly head and the tapes were lost due to a clerical error. They were discovered in the Sony Music vaults fifty years later, misfiled, ironically, with some classical titles. Finally, in 2013, the hour-long concert was released on CD. Now, as a treat for LP lovers, Impex Records has released this memorable concert on two heavyweight slabs of quality vinyl encased in a stout, high-gloss gatefold jacket replete with generous liner notes and historic photos. I was unprepared for the quality of the sound, given the circumstances of the recording. It is remarkably good for its age and captures the event in honest, unfettered fidelity. I'm certain that the remastering by Kevin Gray and Robert Pincus, along with the dead-quiet surfaces of the RTI-pressed vinyl, contributed to this. If the soundstage is a bit flat, blame that on the limits imposed by the outdoor acoustics. I heartily recommend this set to anyone who wants to settle in for an hour of grand music-making by two masters of the craft. Disappointment is not an option. & quot; & lt;/b & gt; - Guy Lemcoe, The Audio Beat, May 2016, 4/5 Music, 3.5/5 Sound & lt;br & gt; & lt;br & gt; & lt;b & gt;Features: & lt;/b & gt; & lt;br & gt; & amp;bull; 180g Vinyl & lt;br & gt; & amp;bull; Double LP & lt;br & gt; & amp;bull; Gatefold jacket coated in vintage high-gloss lacquer & lt;br & gt; & lt;br & gt; & lt;b & gt;Selections: & lt;br & gt; LP 1 & lt;br & gt; Side A: & lt;/b & gt; & lt;br & gt; 1. Ellington Indigos is a 1958 jazz album by Duke Ellington. Indigos features performances of jazz standards such as & quot;Mood Indigo & quot;, & quot;Autumn Leaves & quot;, & quot;Prelude To a Kiss & quot; and more! & lt;br & gt; & lt;br & gt; & quot;The legendary composer and bandleader Duke Ellington was so famous for his poise and charm that it should be no surprise that he had a pithy story at the ready whenever he was asked about one of his most famous and enduring works, & quot;Mood Indigo. & quot; Of the song he and his orchestra recorded for the very first time on this day in 1930, Ellington was fond of saying, & quot;Well, I wrote that in 15 minutes while I was waiting for my mother to finish cooking dinner. & quot; As neatly as that version fit with his well-tended reputation for effortless sophistication, the true account of the song's development reflects the gifts for collaboration and adaptation that were always critical elements of Ellington's genius. & quot; & lt;br & gt; & lt;br & gt; & quot;The genesis of & quot;Mood Indigo & quot; was a visit to New York City in 1930 by a New Orleans jazzman named Lorenzo Tio, Jr. Duke Ellington's clarinetist, Barney Bigard, was a former student of Tio's, and on Tio's visit to New York, he shared with Bigard a number of melodies he'd written, including one called & quot;Dreamy Blues & quot; that had served as the theme song for his group back home, Armand Piron's New Orleans Orchestra. & quot;I asked him if I could borrow it, & quot; Bigard later wrote in his autobiography. & quot;I took it home and kept fooling around with it...and got something together that mostly was my own but partly Tio's. & quot; Bigard's variation on & quot;Dreamy Blues & quot; would soon become the clarinet solo on & quot;Mood Indigo, & quot; thanks to Duke Ellington's penchant for involving his band members in his composition process... With lyrics added by Mitchell Parish in 1931 (but credited to Ellington's manager Irving Mills), & quot;Mood Indigo & quot; became a vocal-jazz standard as well as an instrumental one, recorded memorably by Ella Fitzgerald, Frank Sinatra and Nina Simone among many others. & quot; - from This Day in History (October 15); www.history.com & lt;br & gt; & lt;br & gt; & lt;b & gt; & quot;Just released, one of my favorite Duke Ellington LPs of all time, Ellington Indigos! Impex Records has re-mastered and pressed 2,500 Limited Edition stereo LPs from the masters at Sony/Columbia of this 1958 tour de force recording session. It was first released as Columbia CS 8053 in both stereo and mono, and was one of the first top jazz albums released in stereo at the time by Columbia. My friends, this Impex Records LP is absolutely a sonic masterpiece reissue of the first order! & quot; & lt;br & gt; & lt;br & gt; & quot;The Impex LP was pressed by RTI and mastered from the bona fide master tapes with ultimate care... The original tapes were recorded on 1958 state-of-the-art Ampex 300 tape machines. The Ampex sound is rock solid, with oodles of soul. That is what the Impex reissue sounds like, too. The listener is bathed in the glorious sound of rich musical textures, warm delicious breezes, and sweet delicate airy highs, soaring trumpet tone, and velvety piano chords, developing waves of flowing notes all framed in silent grooves. You hear a soft tape hiss, which is very forgettable when you get into the melodies. Interestingly, the producers at Columbia loved Ellington. Miles Davis and many other jazz high fliers got the B-team of producers and engineers. Ellington always got the A-team, which was the best Columbia had to offer. The Impex reissue reflects this superb effort by the label. & quot; & lt;br & gt; & lt;br & gt; & quot;I am truly impressed how the Impex folks have preserved the authentic recorded sound and, from my personal experience with Ampex decks, added nothing. If you have a Grado Statement 1 Cartridge, a most neutral and fully fleshed out transducer, you will be in the studio with the Duke and the stellar band of great musicians with this reissue. Hopefully, this 33 RPM album will be followed with a 45 RPM someday... but until then, you have to add this amazing Impex LP of Ellington Indigos to your collection right away! It is uniquely perfect, a paradigm of quality LP production, and is a phenomenal value when compared to a good used six-eye that will not hold a candle to this reissue for you are there! sound. With only 2500 made, you had better hurry. & quot; & lt;br & gt; & lt;br & gt; & lt;b & gt; & quot;The recording is superb in every way: texturally, harmonically and especially spatially. I guess it's difficult for some to imagine 1957 producing an utterly transparent, three-dimensional recording but trust me, everything you might be looking for sonically is here. Finding a quiet original is not easy, especially because of the purposely quiet and somewhat distant production. It's designed to make you step into it, not bring it to you. In 1958, a young, successful French composer-arranger with a major infatuation on American jazz, worked his way to New York and convinced the very best players of the time to record an album of largely jazz standards. Michel Legrand would go on to win numerous prizes and accolades (3 Oscars, 5 Grammies, 2 Palmes D'or, etc.), but little of what followed matched the sheer brilliance of Legrand Jazz. & lt;br & gt; & lt;br & gt; Miles Davis, John Coltrane, Bill Evans, Ben Webster, Phil Woods and practically every other session man in town signed up for sessions with Legrand to record his idiosyncratic arrangements of standards ( & quot;Django & quot;, & quot;Dont Get Around Much Anymore & quot;, & quot;Night in Tunisia & quot;, etc.). Instead of regurgitating then current bop styles, he reinvented the very nature of orchestral jazz band repertoire to make a unique and forward-looking statement on the genre. & lt;br & gt; & lt;br & gt; The sound of Impex's all-analog LP preserves the wide soundstage of late 50s Columbia recordings while creating intimate spaces between players on the stage for maximum definition. This rare, highly-praised recording has never sounded as good as it does now. Go big with Legrand Jazz. & lt;br & gt; & lt;br & gt; Legrand Jazz was greeted by an enthusiastic review in the magazine Down Beat. Dom Cerulli awarded it five stars out of a possible five. & lt;br & gt; & lt;br & gt; The meticulously recreated outer jacket is packaged in a gatefold with an original photo montage inside honoring Michel Legrand's masterpiece of reinvention and sublime fan-boy enthusiasm. & lt;br & gt; & lt;br & gt; & lt;b & gt; & quot;The music is luscious and this just may be one of the best- & lt;i & gt;sounding & lt;/i & gt; records you'll ever hear. & quot; & lt;/b & gt; - Ken Kessler, www.hifinews.co.uk, Rated 95/100 Sound Quality! & lt;br & gt; & lt;br & gt; & lt;b & gt; & quot;The result is superior in every way to an original, and the stereo is so good that the oft-stated preference for mono jazz titles fades away. Is this the best sounding jazz orchestral recording of all times? I know of none that is better recorded. From the magic of Ben Webster's mellifluous sounding horn on 'Blue and Sentimental' to the four trumpets blasting out 'Stompin' At The Savoy', played loud and without distortion, this is pure audio musical catnip. Absolutely gorgeous. & quot; & lt;/b & gt;- HiFi+, 10/10 Recording, 10/10 Music & lt;br & gt; & lt;br & gt; & lt;b & gt; & quot;The new Impex vinyl reissue, which used an all-analog chain, offers a wide, full soundstage. Detailed and warm, the LP has an in-the-room presence with lots of air. If texture and timbre appeal to you, this is a must-hear audiophile reissue. & quot; & lt;/b & gt; - Jeff Wilson, The Absolute Sound & lt;br & gt; & lt;br & gt; & lt;b & gt; & quot;It is about time Legrand Jazz, this historic jazz LPor shall I say & quot;hard bop & quot;was reissued properly. The Impex LP is the 36th LP version of Legrand Jazz in the world, and the best, I think, by a country mile. Made from the Columbia session tapes and cut on the all-tube Bernie Grundman mastering and cutting system, it got RTI's best treatment, supervised by Rick Hashimoto. Impex's brilliant Bob Donnelly oversaw production, and Chris Bellman did the cutting. The album art is fresh and first class all the way, with a gate fold jacket, too. This is the kind of & quot;high cotton treatment & quot; for which Impex Records is famous in all of their releases... & quot; & lt;/b & gt; & lt;br & gt; & lt;br & gt; & lt;b & gt; & quot;The performances are all amazing and luscious. Dynamics are powerful and precise. The bass is open and deeper than deep. Sound stage width is wall to wall, and depth is excellent and clear. The personnel play like theres no tomorrow, with lots of heart and energy. Imaging is absolutely, positively perfect. Every instrument and ensemble is mic'ed to perfection. The tonality and layering is fresh and tape-like. The session tapes were well cared for and fresh for the remaking. Legrand Jazz is 180 grams of musical tour de force. I kept saying WOW! over and over again with each superb solo. Who knew this album, the recording, and the engineering was this phenomenal? I did not... & quot; & lt;/b & gt; & lt;br & gt; & lt;br & gt; & lt;b & gt; & quot;With superb performances, exquisite surfaces, perfect LP cutting and pressing, and Impex Records extremely high production standards, Legrand Jazz is in my current estimation the ultimate reissue ever. Legrand Jazz is a true reference LP and worth including in any top-notch record library for the jazz aficionado or devoted audiophile. Well done Impex! Legrand Jazz receives my highest recommendation. & quot; & lt;/b & gt; - Robert H. Los Angeles-based audiophile label Impex Records recently reissued the original album. & lt;p & gt;IMPEX Records is pleased to announce the Limited Edition release of Frank Sinatra's iconic 1950 Columbia Records ten-inch LP & lt;strong & gt;Sing and Dance with Frank Sinatra & lt;/strong & gt;. Originally issued in October 1950, the title was the singer's first fully-conceived big-band
jazz album to appear on a modern, long-play vinyl record. The 70th-anniversary limited edition LP brims with rare, previously unreleased session material, outtakes and alternate vocal takes from the original sessions and offers the exquisite audiophile-quality
sound that IMPEX Records is noted for. & lt;/p & gt;
& lt;p & gt;Created in cooperation with Sony Music's Legacy Recordings, the new deluxe reissue was produced by noted Sinatra producer, author and historian & lt;strong & gt;Charles L. Granata & lt;/strong & gt;, and restored/remastered by six-time Grammy-winning recording engineer & lt;strong & gt;Andreas Meyer & lt;/strong & gt;. The
33-RPM LP was cut by & lt;strong & gt;Chris Bellman & lt;/strong & gt; at Bernie Grundman Mastering, Hollywood and is being released on 180-Gram premium vinyl (pressed at RTI). Included is an extensive, full-color booklet designed by & lt;strong & gt;Robert Sliger & lt;/strong & gt;, featuring a comprehensive historical
essay, full discography/personnel listing and detailed technical notes authored by Granata, PLUS a generous array of rare photographs, promotional artwork and unpublished visual ephemera pertaining to the album. The executive producers are & lt;strong & gt;Abey Fonn & lt;/strong & gt;
and & lt;strong & gt;Bob Bantz & lt;/strong & gt;. & lt;/p & gt;
& lt;p & gt;Rich in musical texture, this essential Sinatra classic - featuring the swing-style arrangements of George Siravo - marked a pivotal moment in 20th-Century pop music history, and represented the singer's transition from tender crooner to hip, swinging
sophisticate. These performances offer a flawless snapshot of Sinatra's legendary musical craftsmanship as he reinvents himself for a new direction in his career - one that would hail his unparalleled success of the 1950s and '60s. & lt;/p & gt;
& lt;p & gt;For this commemorative release, IMPEX has augmented the album's original eight songs (programmed in sequence on Side A of the LP) with a dazzling array of & lt;strong & gt;PREVIOUSLY UNRELEASED BONUS TRACKS & lt;/strong & gt; including alternate takes, orchestra-only tracks and & lt;strong & gt;a revealing
glimpse of Frank Sinatra in Columbia's famed 30th Street Studio (circa 1949), personally directing every facet of the recording session & lt;/strong & gt;. This exquisite, high-fidelity session offers the most concise, in-depth illustration of Frank Sinatra working his
magic in the studio, and functioning as his own producer. & lt;/p & gt;
& lt;p & gt;The IMPEX team has spared no expense or effort in the creation of this milestone recording. In keeping with the prestigious label's reputation for meticulous sound, the 33-RPM vinyl LP has been & lt;strong & gt;transferred, restored and mastered in the analog domain & lt;/strong & gt; from
the original 15-ips session tapes: superior-sounding masters that have lain untouched in the Columbia Records vault for more than fifty years. These analog, monophonic tape masters sound spectacular, and shine as never before. & lt;/p & gt;
& lt;p & gt; & lt;strong & gt; & quot;From the original analog tapes, this 70th Anniversary 180 gram commemorative release of Sing and Dance with Frank Sinatra is an absolute gem of a reissue. We have to thank IMPEX for taking on this project. There are many Frank Sinatra fans out there who are just as passionate about his early Columbia years as his later output from Capital and Reprise, but this music never seems to get the respect that it deserves. There has been plenty of excitement generated after the initial announcement. I am happy to say that we have been greatly rewarded after all the anticipation and patience! I also want to offer some big time congrats to Abey Fonn over at IMPEX and Chuck Granata, the acclaimed and highly respected Frank Sinatra historian and archivist. Their superb collaborative effort and leadership on this project has produced something quite memorable and well beyond expectations! & quot; & lt;/strong & gt; - Robert S. Youman, Positive Feedback & lt;a href= & quot;https://positive-feedback.com/reviews/music-reviews/frank-sinatra/ & quot; & gt; & lt;b & gt; & lt;font color= & quot;#0000FF & quot; & gt;Read more! & lt;/font & gt; & lt;/b & gt; & lt;/a & gt; & lt;/p & gt;
& lt;p & gt; & lt;strong & gt; & quot;Unpacking and playing this mono classic were the record-collector's equivalent of enjoying a Michelin-rated meal in my living room. If that sounds like hype, consider the following. The music was transferred, restored and remastered in the analog domain from the original 15ips session tapes by Grammy-winning recording engineer Andres Meyer. Lacquers were then cut by Chris Bellman at Bernie Grundman Mastering in Hollywood, and the limited pressing run of 5000 copies was personally supervised by Rick Hashimoto at RTI. If that wasn't already enough talent, Impex hired the folks at Stoughton Printing (well-known for their stellar work with Intervention Records, among other labels) to reproduce the original cover in a luxuriously laminated tip-on gatefold and create a colorful 24-page liner-note booklet written by Frank Sinatra authority Charles L. Granata. I have a friend in the printing business who said the booklet's textured subheadings and glossy red and yellow paint effects are the result of a spare-no-expense process known as 'spot UV varnish' that must have boosted the production costs considerably. There's even a detailed rundown of each piece of equipment used in the production process, from the Studer tape decks to the Westrex cutter head driven by a refurbished Haeco vacuum-tube amplifier. About the only thing left to the imagination is what color socks Matt Cavaluzzo was wearing when he restored two of the original session lacquers. The obvious love and care invested in this project left me a bit in awe each time I lifted the gold Impex seal to remove the album from its protective vinyl envelope. & quot; & lt;/strong & gt; - Vance Hiner, The Audio Beat, Music 4/5, Sound 4/5 & lt;a href= & quot;http://www.theaudiobeat.com/music/frank_sinatra_sing_and_dance_lp.htm & quot; & gt; & lt;b & gt; & lt;font color= & quot;#0000FF & quot; & gt;Read more! & lt;/font & gt; & lt;/b & gt; & lt;/a & gt; & lt;/p & gt;

Granata's discourse in this video includes history, the art and science of recording, personal reactions and his lingering curiosities. It's an in-depth look at a milestone recording, something that must be seen and heard to fully appreciate. The 180-gram RTI pressing is flawless and the double gatefold jacket is truly lavish! The Sinatra selections are superbly performed and very musically entertaining, to the max. Surfaces are exceptionally quiet. No need to worry about the RIAA Curve here
since the tapes do not contain the Columbia recording curve the LP's of the era used. The correct and current RIAA Playback Curve was used in this reissue by Impex. This full size 12-inch LP, not 10 inch for the reissue, has immense value for the music
lover and audiophile. You cannot judge speaker placement with a stereo LP. You need a mono source to do it correctly. This release sounds top-notch with a stereo cartridge. My compliments to Andreas Meyer for superb mastering and Chris Bellman at Bernie
Grundman Mastering for exceptional record cutting dynamics and musical preservation. Very highly recommended!

The sourcing, re-mastering and re-mixing process was a herculean accomplishment. The extended liner notes from Granata, a Sinatra author, archivist, radio host and expert, will appeal to those with a historical and/or audio engineering/technological interest. While Sing and Dance with Frank Sinatra offers significant historical value, the performances are as monumentally enjoyable as they are valuable. Displaying vocal and technical perfection, it is an exciting listening experience and certainly one of the finest releases of 2020.

Before booze, smoke, and age roughened up his voice, here is Sinatra at his youthful finest. And my do he and his band deliver the goods. The sound lacks both frequency and dynamic extremes - as one would expect given the vintage here - but it hardly matters when the heart of the action, Sinatra's voice, is presented with such immediacy and refreshing purity. Being recorded in mono, which as we know does not present stereo-like imaging, Sinatra stands front and center, with the orchestra clearly arrayed behind him with a suggestion of depth. Impex's stellar reissue (the cover alone is worth the admission price) is a must-have for Sinatra lovers.

For each other. & lt;br & gt; & lt;br & gt; One day, they decide to put their favorite collaborations down on tape. & lt;br & gt; & lt;br & gt; Impex proudly presents this 180g vinyl LP of the same uncompromising sonic and production standards of the artists themselves: Heifetz-Piatigorsky Concerts. & lt;br & gt; & lt;br & gt; Be one of a fortunate few who will possess the rewards of such an unmatched musical friendship. & lt;br & gt; & lt;br & gt; In the summer of 1961, violinist Jascha Heifetz and cellist Gregor Piatigorsky decided to share their musical experiences and pleasures with music lovers of the surrounding communities. They founded the Heifetz-Piatigorsky Concerts, an intimate series dedicated to chamber music masterpieces. Since then, concerts have been given not only in Hollywood but also in San Francisco and New York. Heifetz and Piatigorsky have invited such distinguished artists as William Primrose, Leon Fleischer and Jacob Lateiner to collaborate with them in the concert and in recording. & lt;br & gt; & lt;br & gt; This recording is not just rare but beautiful!! The LP is placed in an extra heavy fancy jacket with tip on and UV gloss coating. Mixed from the original half inch 3 track masters by Meyer Media in New York and mastered by Kevin Gray and Robert Pincus. & lt;br & gt; & lt;br & gt; & lt;b & gt; & quot;Abey Fonn of Impex and her mates obtained the original three-track analog tapes that were then mixed to two tracks by Andreas Meyer of Meyer Media. Kevin Gray of Cohearent Audio and Robert Pincus of Impex mastered the LP and SACD, with the LP pressed at RTI. Its hard to parse out what improvements result from dropping the Dynagroove mastering, what results from the superior mastering chain, and what results from the thicker, quieter vinyl pressing. The recording quality was among the best of the Concert series, with the players arrayed in a lifelike soundstage and the balance among the instruments nearly perfect. Im not sure how many of the performances preserved in the 21-CD set were issued on vinyl, but none Ive heard sounded better than the original pressing of this LP, and this reissue is significantly better still, with more body, although the SACD is very close. Call me old-fashioned, but I appreciate the fact that the Beethoven trio takes up all of side one, so when it ends, your reverie is gently nudged by the swish of the stylus in the lead-out groove, instead of the beginning of an entirely new piece. & quot; & lt;/b & gt; - Dennis Davis, The Audio Beat, & lt;a href= & quot;http://www.theaudiobeat.com/music/heifetz_piatigorsky_concerts_lp_sacd.htm & quot; & gt; & lt;font color= & quot;#0000FF & quot; & gt; & lt;b & gt;www.theaudiobeat.com & lt;/b & gt; & lt;/font & gt; & lt;/a & gt;, 4.5/5 Music, 4.5/5 Sound & lt;br & gt; & lt;br & gt; & lt;b & gt;Features: & lt;/b & gt; & lt;br & gt; 180 Gram Vinyl & lt;br & gt; Pressed at RTI & lt;br & gt; Mastered by Kevin Gray & amp; Robert Pincus & lt;br & gt; Mastered from the original half-Inch track masters & lt;br & gt; Extra heavy fancy jacket with tip-on and UV gloss coating & lt;br & gt; & lt;br & gt; & lt;b & gt;Musicians: & lt;/b & gt; & lt;br & gt; Jascha Heifetz, violin & lt;br & gt; Gregor Piatigorsky, cello & lt;br & gt; & lt;br & gt; & lt;b & gt;Selections: & lt;br & gt; Side A: & lt;br & gt; Ludwig van Beethoven (1770-1827) & lt;br & gt; Trio Op. 1, No. 1 & lt;/b & gt; & lt;br & gt; 1. Fueled by gems ranging from the sweaty funk of & quot;Shining Star & quot; and & quot;Yearnin' Learnin' & quot; to the gorgeous ballad & quot;Reasons & quot; and the unforgettable title song, EWF's sixth album sold at least five million units. And some of the tracks that weren't major hits, such as the exuberant & quot;Happy Feelin' & quot; and the gospel-influenced & quot;See the Light, & quot; are equally powerful. The greatest assembly of musical talent ever on one album! Features Performances by John Coltrane, Miles Davis, Bill Evans, Ben Webster & amp; 27 More Jazz Greats! & lt;br & gt; & lt;br & gt; Pressed at Record technology for silent surfaces and true fidelity to the analog source. & lt;br & gt; & lt;br & gt; Exclusive large-format booklet with new art and an appreciation by Tom Schnabel (Rhythm Planet & amp; KCRW). & lt;br & gt; & lt;br & gt; Academy and Grammy & amp;#174; Award-winning composer/arranger Michel Legrand (The Umbrellas of Cherbourg, Summer of '42, The Thomas Crown Affair) was not a household name in America in 1958, but he was renowned among musicians and a life-long fanatic of American jazz and its players. Legrand Jazz is the result of Legrand traveling to America and using his Columbia Records contract to enlist label mates (and soon to be legends) & lt;b & gt;Miles Davis, John Coltrane, Bill Evans, Paul Chambers, Ben Webster, Hank Jones, Herbie Mann, Phil Woods, Donald Byrd, Art Farmer, Sheldon Powell, Teo Macero, Milt Hinton, Jimmy Cleveland & lt;/b & gt;, and others to record his fantastical reimagining of 11 jazz standards. Not merely content to lay down another Parisian hard-bop play-along, the 27 year old worked against type and expectations at every turn, creating a moody, idiosyncratic landscape for unusual call-and-response chase solos, washes of harp and vibes, and sultry horn canvases. Davis, Coltrane and the others manage to fall in with the diverse, mellow flow of Legrand's arrangements while keeping their unique musical voices. & lt;br & gt; & lt;br & gt; Impex's pristine release was mastered by Chris Bellman on Bernie Grundman's All-Tube cutting lathe from a 2-track, all-analog mix down of the original studio work prints, made especially for Impex Records by Mark Wilder at Battery Studios in New York. The results are revelatory. The large recording space is captured in every detail, while Davis' full force dynamic variations come through with incredible veracity. The gentle ebb-and-flow of Legrand's parts highlight microtonal fluctuations on every track. You are along for a magic carpet ride of large jazz ensemble recording when you drop the needle into these grooves. & lt;br & gt; & lt;br & gt; Packaged in meticulously recreated outer jacket in a gatefold with an original photo montage inside honoring Michel Legrand's masterpiece of reinvention and focused fan-boy enthusiasm. This release will be individually numbered up to 3,000! & lt;br & gt; & lt;br & gt; The sound of Impex's all-analog LP preserves the wide soundstage of late 1950's Columbia recordings while creating intimate spaces between players on the stage for maximum definition. & lt;b & gt;On 33rpm, this rare, highly-praised recording had never sounded so good. Now that it's on 45rpm double LP? Even Better!!! & lt;/b & gt;Go big with Legrand Jazz. & lt;br & gt; & lt;br & gt; & lt;b & gt; & quot;With superb performances, exquisite surfaces, perfect LP cutting and pressing, and Impex Records' extremely high production standards, Legrand Jazz is in my current estimation the ultimate reissue ever. Legrand Jazz is a true reference LP and worth including in any top-notch record library for the jazz aficionado or devoted audiophile. & quot; & lt;/b & gt; - Robert H. Levi, Positive Feedback Online, August 29, 2017 (about 33rpm version) & lt;br & gt; & lt;br & gt; & lt;b & gt; & quot;Jazz lovers! Do you want to support audiophile record labels that go the extra mile? Well, Impex Records does, and this is proof! Abey Fonn who runs Impex Records just gave me her personal copy of this, hot off the press, the newly cut 45 RPM version, mastered at Bernie Grundman by the handsome Chris Bellman and my long time vinyl buddy Bob Donnelly on the Bernie Grundman Mastering Studios all vacuum tube cutting system earlier this year. In fact, I think it is the first cutting using the original analog work parts since 1959. Pressed on heavy vinyl at Record Technology Inc. by Rick Hashimoto and the RTI gang, this really has to be the greatest assembly of musical talent ever on one album. Features performances by John Coltrane, Miles Davis, Bill Evans, Ben Webster & amp; 27 more Jazz Greats, all in glorious analog stereophonic sound. Nice booklet enclosed, layout by Impex Records jack-of-all-trades Robert Sliger. This is a true jazz sleeper album, a gem in the Columbia Records' jazz catalog, now reissued in grand audiophile style by Impex Records. All analog mastering, (no digital anywhere in the chain), this is a real treat for jazz and jazz vinyl collectors everywhere. The sound quality is amazing as well. All in all a beautiful package, quiet vinyl, wonderful, dynamic sound, great performances, a little known jazz gem given a Legrand audiophile treatment! This is something that you should grab while you can, music lovers. A real Legrand treat for the senses! This has been on my VPI Industries Avenger turntable for a week, non-stop! & lt;font color= & quot;#FF0000 & quot; & gt;Order your copy now. Best place would be Elusive Disc, Inc. & lt;/font & gt; Hurry before it sells out! & quot; & lt;/b & gt; - Steve Hoffman, via Facebook & lt;br & gt; & lt;br & gt; & lt;b & gt; & quot;There is no question that the version I was sent for review on Impex Records is the definitive version of 'Legrand Jazz'. And the sound quality? Second to none. Yes, to be expected, there is a bit of tape hiss in the background, it was recorded in stereo in 1958, after all. But other than that, there is not much I could say that wouldn't sound as if I was simply reciting audiophile clich & amp;#233;s. This album is demo disc quality with music on it that not many that I know will walk out on. Besides this double 45 rpm version Impex also pressed a version on a single 33 rpm LP, and an SACD. Those lamenting about LP's rising prices might use the double 45 LP version as fuel for their argument, priced on Amazon at nearly $60. But really, how many audiophiles haven't seen a single audiophile pressing priced at $30? Plus, the pressing is limited to 3000 numbered copies and packaged in a thick gatefold cover with a 14-page 'large format' booklet with rare photos and art, and an appreciation by Tom Schnabel. One spin should convince every audiophile who purchases this album that their money was money well spent. & quot; & lt;/b & gt; - Tom Lyle, www.enjoythemusic.com, July 2019 & lt;br & gt; & lt;br & gt; & lt;b & gt; & quot;This is the 45rpm version of IMPEX's 2017 33 1/3 all-analog reissue of Michel Legrand's somewhat overlooked musical and sonic treasure featuring many of the greatest jazz artists of the era. Nothing other than Legrand's passing has changed since the original reissue review, so I'm just repeating it, other than to add that it sounds even 'Legrander' at 45rpm, though if you already own IMPEX's 33 1/3 version, it's not really necessary to buy it again, unless you must! An enticement might be the now glossy laminated jacket and gatefold booklet with a very useful and informed essay by KCRW's Tom Schnabel. This IMPEX reissue is sourced from an 'analog mix-down transfer of the original 1958 work tape by Mark Wilder at Battery Studios' and cut by Chris Bellman and Bob Donnelly at Bernie Grundman Mastering on Grundman's all-tube mastering system. I have a clean, original 6-Eye pressing that this superbly pressed reissue betters in every way. This will make both your stereo and your heart sing. Some of the greatest jazz musicians of that or any era wailing and clearly having a Legrand time. Limited to 3000 [numbered] copies. Don't miss it! & quot; & lt;/b & gt; - Michael Fremer, Analog Planet, Music 10/11, Sound 11/11 & lt;br & gt; & lt;br & gt;
& lt;p & gt; & lt;strong & gt; & quot;I'm very much falling in love with 45 RPM LPs. I'm also very much falling in love with IMPEX Records and their recent series of vinyl releases. Merge this format and this label together and you have a real winner: Legrand Jazz. This is a pressing that could possibly take its place as one of the crown jewels in your entire jazz LP collection. Legrand Jazz is the very essence of what audiophile records can be and should be! & lt;/p & gt;
& lt;p & gt; & quot;Yes, 45 RPM LPs might be a pain to flip through, but my goodness they are certainly worth it in my humble opinion. The latest and greatest from IMPEX, Mobile Fidelity and Analogue Productions continue to set new bench marks as in some cases they are difficult if not impossible to differentiate from their reel to reel counterparts (when available for comparison). With the latest surge of incredible sounding reel to reel tapes hitting the market, I did consider reel to reel as the gold standard right behind the master tapes. These new 45 RPM releases are now in the team picture too. & lt;/p & gt;
& lt;p & gt; & quot;IMPEX has a long respected legacy in the audiophile vinyl market and thanks to the business and production leadership of Abey Fonn and the distribution support of Kevin Berg over at Elusive Disc, they continue to step up their game. This includes the fairly recent 33 RPM releases of Another Time, Another Place by Jennifer Warnes, Lo Que Dice Mi Cantar by Trio Palabras and Friday Night In San Francisco by John McLaughlin, Al Di Meola, and Paco De Lucia.
& lt;/p & gt;
& lt;p & gt; & quot;Now we have Legrand Jazz in 45 RPM. Released in 1958 on the Columbia label and recorded at the renowned Columbia Records 30th Street Studios, it was arranged and conducted by the French jazz enthusiast Michel Legrand. Musicians included Miles Davis, John Coltrane, Bill Evans, Paul Chambers, Hank Jones, Art Farmer, Donald Byrd, Phil Woods, Ben Webster, Herbie Mann, Milt Hinton, Frank Rehak, Jimmy Cleveland, and Joe Wilder amongst many more superstars.
& lt;/p & gt;
& lt;p & gt; & quot;This IMPEX stereo reissue is sourced from the original 1958 work tape by Mark Wilder at Battery Studios and cut by Chris Bellman and Bob Donnelly at Bernie Grundman Mastering. This was an end to end all analog effort including an all tube mastering system. The icing on the cake is the latest and greatest 180 gram vinyl utilized by RTI. Talk about low noise and black backgrounds! & lt;/p & gt;
& lt;p & gt; & quot;Most of these tracks are fairly familiar jazz standards with a very laid back and soothing emphasis, but you will be hard pressed not to immediately fall in love with the arrangements and the subtle but addictive way that Legrand brings out all the skills and powerful voices of these iconic musicians. & lt;/p & gt;
& lt;p & gt; & quot;There are so many highlights that its difficult to point to any track in particular. However, one of my favorites is & quot;Blue and Sentimental. & quot; Ben Webster (tenor sax) stands stage left and Frank Rehak (trombone) stands stage right in a very expressive if not alluring duet of alternating solos. The instruments are so three dimensional and rich with proper timbre and weight that your eyes might just swell up as you imagine the rye whiskey and cigarette smoke whirling around you. Yep, it's a studio but the quality of this recording and your imagination will take you to another place. & lt;/p & gt;
& lt;p & gt; & quot; & quot;Django & quot; is still another slice of French Kharma. Miles Davis and Bill Evans float through this track with as much cool and refinement as you will ever hear from them in their quintessential albums together or on their own. That classic muted trumpet sounds better than ever with no edge or tilted emphasis--just layers of wonderful harmonic bloom and foggy ease. Piano is weighty and detailed with plenty of rhythmic expression and subtle bursts of life. Circling and swirling throughout is Betty Glamann on harp that provides another interesting mix and counter to that provided by Davis and Evans. Just exquisite stuff. & lt;/p & gt;
& lt;p & gt; & quot;Legrand Jazz is an absolute keeper and deserves to be in every music lover's collection. This goes for both the jazz aficionados out there and even those with other interests but who love to dabble with something very special. Production is limited so I'd jump on the purchase before its too late. & quot; & lt;/strong & gt; - Robert S. Youman, Positive Feedback, October 28, 2019 & lt;/p & gt;
& lt;blockquote cite= & quot;quote source & quot; & gt;
Impex released the reissue in a 33 RPM platter, and we gave it the highest ratings for recording and music back in Issue 153. This new 45 RPM two-disc set demonstrates that all top ratings are not created equal. Instrumental texture is the biggest beneficiary of the new mastering by Chris Bellman at Bernie Grundman Mastering - Ben Webster should always sound juicy, but here he is downright succulent. Add a more seamless soundstage and this is a perfect artefact of Columbia's wedding of the best recording engineers, decks, microphones and hall. In addition, the new fold-out cover embraces a handsome booklet.

It was described by jazz author and critic Walter Kolosky as & quot;a musical event that could be compared to the Benny Goodman Band's performance at Carnegie Hall in 1938...[it] may be considered the most influential of all live acoustic guitar albums. All the tracks except Guardian Angel were recorded live at The Warfield Theatre on December 5, 1980 in San Francisco. & lt;br & gt; & lt;br & gt; This debut recording on Columbia Records became a landmark recording that surpassed the two million mark in sales. The three virtuosos in the Trio toured together from 1980 through 1983. & lt;br & gt; & lt;br & gt; Ah the Mediterranean... Filled with fine foods, wines, beautiful people, and the inspirational style of music that descended upon the able fingers of these guitar giants. This is by far one of the hottest guitar albums ever to bless sweet vinyl. Al Dimeola, John McLaughlin, & amp; Paco Delucia play classical guitars (the kind with the nylon strings) in a flamenco / jazz style that will blow your socks off! & lt;br & gt; & lt;br & gt; Paco de Lucia was a Spanish flamenco guitarist, composer and producer. A leading proponent of the New Flamenco style, he helped legitimize flamenco among the establishment in Spain, and was one of the first flamenco guitarists to have successfully crossed over into other genres of music such as classical and jazz. De Lucia was noted for his fast and fluent finger style runs. His collaborations with guitarists John McLaughlin and Al Di Meola saw him gain wider popularity outside his native Spain. & lt;br & gt; & lt;br & gt; Al Di Meola is an acclaimed jazz fusion and Latin jazz guitarist, composer, and record producer. With a musical career that has spanned more than three decades, he has become respected as one of the most influential guitarists in jazz to date. Albums such as Friday Night In San Francisco have earned him both artistic and commercial success with a solid fan base throughout the world. A prolific composer and prodigious six-string talent, Di Meola has amassed over 20 albums as a leader while collaborating on a dozen or so others. & lt;br & gt; & lt;br & gt; John McLaughlin is an English guitarist, bandleader and composer. His music includes many genres of jazz and rock, which he coupled with an interest in Indian classical music to become one of the pioneering figures in fusion. In 2010, guitarist Jeff Beck called him & lt;b & gt; & quot;the best guitarist alive. & quot; & lt;/b & gt; In 2003, McLaughlin was ranked 49th in Rolling Stone's & quot;100 Greatest Guitarists of All Time. & quot; After contributing to several key British groups of the early sixties and making his first solo record, he moved to the US where he played with Tony Williams' group Lifetime and then with Miles Davis on his landmark electric-jazz fusion albums: In A Silent Way, Bitches Brew, A Tribute To Jack Johnson and On The Corner. & lt;br & gt; & lt;br & gt; & lt;b & gt; & quot;Recorded in 1981 at San Francisco's Garfield Theatre, there must have been magic in the air that Friday night. John McLaughlin, Al Di Meola, and Paco De Lucia put on a show that was by most accounts an amazing turning point in concert and recording history...No percussion, no bass, no piano, no brass. Just three of the finest guitarists alive providing an acoustic masterpiece of breath taking melodic interludes and mind boggling improvisation...For me, the tough choice for & quot;King of the Hill & quot; is between the Impex 180 Gram Numbered Limited Edition and the ORG 45 RPM...The ORG has a rich natural presentation with a liquidity that is quite alluringstill plenty of dynamic punch and immediacy. The Impex is slightly more detailed with a locked in sound stage and imaging to die for. No edge. No fatigue. Just very refined and tangible. The Impex would be my choice as it does a better job of defining the differences between the harmonics and sound of all three musicians and guitarsmuch of which was lost in the digital renditions and only slightly more clarified on vinyl. But I am splitting hairs here on these last two. Both are absolute killer pressings and either would be an outstanding addition to your collection. & quot; & lt;/b & gt; - Robert S. Youman, positive-feedback.com & lt;br & gt; & lt;br & gt; & lt;b & gt; & quot;Loose and spontaneous, this (mainly) live album is a meeting of three of the greatest guitarists in the world for an acoustic summit the likes of which the guitar-playing community rarely sees. Broken up into three duo and two trio performances, Friday Night in San Francisco catches all three players at the peaks of their quite formidable powers. & quot; & lt;/b & gt; - www.allmusic.com & lt;br & gt; & lt;br & gt; & lt;b & gt; & quot;I wish I could remember here I was on, and more than that I wish I could remember that I was at the Warfield Theatre in San Francisco on December, 5, 1980, where this concert was recorded. Three of the worlds great guitar players played on the same bill, and their performances were to die for. The Guitar Trio formed in 1979, was originally composed of McLaughlin, Paco De Lucia, and Larry Coryell, but after the release of this album, Al Di Meola replaced Coryell as a member. McLaughlin, the senior and perhaps best-known member of the group, was an early advocate of jazz fusion, and the elements he fused included principally electric jazz and Indian classical music, with some blues, flamenco and western classical music mixed in. A list of the groups he was associated with would exceed the word count of this article, but his albums with Miles Davis, The Mahavishnu Orchestra, and Shakti are well represented in the collections of any guitar fan. Di Meola, known for his lightning speed and technical prowess, trained at Berklee College of Music and came to prominence as a member of Return To Forever. Of Italian heritage, his playing extracts the essence of Mediterranean and flamenco. Sadly, Paco De Lucia passed away in 2014, leaving a powerful body of work (including this live masterpiece). Where the other two members incorporate flamenco into their music, de Lucia was first and foremost a flamenco guitar artist, and in his case, he incorporated jazz and classical music into his flamenco art. Like Di Meola and McLaughlin, he could play with lightning speed. Many music lovers first came to flamenco music through its use in jazz. Flamenco, however, dates back to the eighteenth century. Associated with the Romani people of Spain (gypsies), its roots spread wider, encompassing musical styles throughout the Andalusia area of Spain. Today, the sounds of flamenco guitar, castanets and hand-clapping have spread across a wide spectrum of performance styles. Some of my most treasured discs include a three 10 disc set titled Anthologie De Cante Flamenco on Ducretet-Thomson (LA1051-52-53) published in the early 1950s and Carmen Amayas Queen of the Gypsies on Decca DL 9616. These are likely some of the same records Di Meola, McLaughlin, and De Lucia pored over as youngsters, learning their craft. None of them, however, remained hide-bound or stuck in old ways of thinking, and their updated take on the Andalusia spirit was never more in evidence than in this mostly live recording. Frequently, putting three superstars together on a single disc backfires (the magic almost happened again on their later studio album, Passion, Grace and Fire), but here the three play at their respective peaks and the result is one of the great guitar discs of all time. The LP has never been out of print, and has always been considered an audiophile demonstration record. Even before cracking the seal on my copy of the new Impex reissue, I began seeing reports on the internet, claiming that an original pressing blew away the new reissue, or that it was doomed to failure because modern 180 grams records always sound inferior due to chemicals incorporated into the vinyl compound. Rather than sending the review copy back to Impex, I decided to listen to it and compare it to an original US pressing as well as the last reissue from the Original Recording Group (ORG) released in 2012, but no longer available. The Impex reissue was mastered from the original analogue master tapes by Bernie Grundman, with Impexs Bob Donnelly sitting in (but not credited in the wax). Its an edition limited to 3,000 copies and pressed at RTI in California. Unlike Impexs recent Legrand Jazz, the cover is not the ultra heavy cardboard version used there, but it is still heavy stock cardboard. The sound is rich yet retains all the detail of the original. The Columbia original, by comparison, sounds a bit threadbare, where the Impex adds plenty of instrumental body and stage depth. Its a big step up from the original and edges out the ORG 45 rpm version by a hair. A huge sonic and musical thumbs up! & quot;Recording: 10 Music: 10 & lt;/b & gt; - Dennis Davis, & lt;i & gt;HI-FI+ & lt;/i & gt; & lt;br & gt; & lt;br & gt; & lt;b & gt;Features: & lt;/b & gt; & lt;br & gt; Mastered by Bernie Grundman and Bob Donnelly from the Original Analog Master Tapes! & lt;br & gt; 100% Analog 180g Vinyl LP! & lt;br & gt; Plated and pressed at RTI, supervised by Rick Hashimoto & lt;br & gt; & lt;br & gt; & lt;b & gt;Musicians: & lt;/b & gt; & lt;br & gt; Al Di Meola, guitar & lt;br & gt; John McLaughlin, guitar & lt;br & gt; Paco de Lucía, guitar & lt;br & gt; & lt;br & gt; & lt;b & gt;Selections: & lt;br & gt; Side One: & lt;br & gt; 1. Impex has always had a special place in their hearts for Shoji Yokouchis Greensleeves. Standards, original tunes, and traditional pieces (like the title track), are interpreted in unexpectedly funky, soulful ways. The master guitarist is given immeasurable support by organist Yuri Tashiro. Her playing is alternately moody and spry, fiery and funky. Impexs vinyl reissue preserves the originals clear, exacting sound (check out the bass on Tashiros organ!) while improving surface noise and presentation. This rare gem of Tee Fujiis repertoire is yet another entertaining listen for Three Blind Mice fans from their friends at Impex Records! & lt;br & gt;
& lt;br & gt;
& lt;b & gt; & quot;I am familiar, of course, with this prestige audiophile label from Japan, but only own two of their recordings: Midnight Sugar and Girl Talk. Both are famous superb recordings, and offer amazing audiophile sound and performances of top notch jazz arrangements. They have been reissued often by TBM and other companies, worldwide. That said, Greensleeves has never been reissued on LP by anyone, anywhere! Maybe Greensleeves was just too exciting, too bold, too dynamic, too melodic, too unusual to include a Hammond B3 organ, or maybe just ALL of the above! & quot;
& lt;br & gt; & lt;br & gt;
& quot;I cannot understand how [Chris] Bellman got 100% of the dynamics, power, subterranean deep powerful bass, delicate guitar, bass riffs, and drums all on a 33 RPM release without the instruments colliding into one another. I am shocked by the RTI pressing of such utter quiet and explosive punch... harmonics and layered realistic textures lived in the room as the needle found its groove. Imaging is pin-point stable and precise, and dynamics never overload. & quot;
& lt;br & gt; & lt;br & gt;
& quot;If this is not the ultimate audiophile demonstration LP released this year, then none will be released. I dare you to stop listening to this LP once the first cut has commenced! With mostly standards jazzed up for the brilliant musicians to love to play, I was constantly tapping my toes and reminiscing on when I first heard a certain melody. What great fun! & quot;
& lt;br & gt; & lt;br & gt;
& quot; ...Packaged by Impex in slick classy gloss and full color, Greensleeves is a high-quality production for a top jazz collection. Prediction: this release will triple in price! For those smart enough to buy multiple copies and put extras away, a bonus awaits them! This is the best audiophile system demonstration LP I have heard in ages, and a must-own. Thank you Impex!
