Includes Previously Unreleased Tracks! & lt;br & gt; Michael Fremer Rated 10/11 Music, 10/11 Sound in his July 2014 reviews on www.analogplanet.com! & lt;/b & gt; & lt;/font & gt; & lt;br & gt; & lt;br & gt; When Cécile McLorin Salvant arrived at the Kennedy Center in Washington, DC to compete in the finals of the 2010 Thelonious Monk International Jazz Competition, she was not only the youngest finalist, but also a mystery woman with the most unusual background of any of the participants. When she walked away with first place in the jazz world's most prestigious contest, the buzz began almost immediately. If anything, it has intensified in the months leading up to the launch of her Mack Avenue Records debut, WomanChild. & lt;br & gt; & lt;br & gt; & lt;b & gt; & quot;She has poise, elegance, soul, humor, sensuality, power, virtuosity, range, insight, intelligence, depth and grace, & quot; & lt;/b & gt; Wynton Marsalis asserts. & lt;b & gt; & quot;I've never heard a singer of her generation who has such a command of styles, & quot; & lt;/b & gt; remarks pianist Aaron Diehl. & lt;b & gt; & quot;She radiates authority. & quot; & lt;/b & gt; & lt;br & gt; & lt;br & gt; Yet at almost every step of the way, McLorin Salvant has followed a different path from her peers. Born in Miami to a French mother and Haitian father, McLorin Salvant's first language was French. She immersed herself in the classical music tradition, long before she turned to jazz starting on piano at age 5 and joining the Miami Choral Society at age 8. When it came time for college, McLorin Salvant bypassed all the U.S. conservatories and jazz schools, heading instead to Aix-en-Provence in France, where she continued to develop as a singer, but with an emphasis on classical and baroque vocal music as well as jazz. & lt;br & gt; & lt;br & gt; There, thousands of miles away from jazz's land of origin, McLorin Salvant entered into a fruitful partnership with reed player and teacher Jean-Francois Bonnel, first as a student and soon as a performer. Before returning to the U.S., she gave concerts in Paris, recorded with Bonnel's quintet, and immersed herself in the early jazz and blues vocal tradition. By the time she returned to her home country to take the stage in the Monk Competition, she had drawn on this unusual set of formative experiences in shaping a personal style of jazz singing, surprising and dramatic by turns, and very much in contrast to that of the other participants and McLorin Salvant's contemporaries. & lt;br & gt; & lt;br & gt; On WomanChild, McLorin Salvant draws on songs spanning three centuries of American music. & lt;b & gt; & quot;I like to choose songs that are a little unknown or have been recorded very few times, & quot; & lt;/b & gt; McLorin Salvant notes. & lt;b & gt; & quot;While these songs aren't recognized as standards, many should be because they are so beautifully crafted. & quot; & lt;/b & gt; & lt;br & gt; & lt;br & gt; On the album, her repertoire ranges from the 19th century ballad & quot;John Henry, & quot; refreshed in a spirited up-to-date arrangement, to McLorin Salvant's own 21st century waltz & quot;Le Front Cache? Sur Tes Genoux & quot; which draws on a poem by Haitian writer Ida Salomon Faubert for its lyric. She is joined by a world class band who share her concern for creating jazz of today by drawing on vibrant traditions of the past: pianist Aaron Diehl and bassist Rodney Whitaker (both of whom are Mack Avenue label mates), guitarist James Chirillo and master drummer Herlin Riley. & lt;br & gt; & lt;br & gt; On WomanChild, McLorin Salvant gives music lovers the chance to hear why the illustrious judges at the Monk Competition gave her top honors. McLorin Salvant is still a bit of a mystery, but she will hardly be a secret any longer. & lt;br & gt; & lt;br & gt; & lt;b & gt; & quot;Her phrasing and timing are locked in yet loose and supple; her range seems unlimited. She literally creates a fresh breeze that you will feel before the end of the opener...You will fall in love the first play through, with both the musical performances and the sonics. & quot; & lt;/b & gt; -Michael Fremer, analogplanet.com, Music 10/11, Sound 10/11 & lt;br & gt; & lt;br & gt; & lt;b & gt; & quot;If anyone can extend the lineage of the Big Three--Billie Holiday, Sarah Vaughan, and Ella Fitzgerald--it is this 23-year-old virtuoso... & quot; & lt;/b & gt; -Stephen Holden, New York Times & lt;br & gt; & lt;br & gt; & lt;b & gt; & quot;Few jazz debuts by singers or instrumentalists make this big a splash...Salvant doesn't need to try to knock us out. The Christian McBride Big Band The Good Feeling 180g 2LP (Vinyl)
& lt;font color= & quot;#FF0000 & quot; & gt; & lt;b & gt;First Time Available On 180g Vinyl! & lt;br & gt; 2012 Grammy Winner For Best Large Jazz Ensemble! Mastered by Kevin Gray at Cohearent Audio! & lt;/b & gt; & lt;/font & gt; & lt;br & gt; & lt;br & gt; The good feeling you are about to feel is the kind that can only be derived by the collective efforts of players at the peak of their powers assembled and led by the one and only - Christian McBride! The bassist with the mostest hosts an aggregation of players including his own band mate Steve Wilson, multi-reedman Ron Blake, trumpeter Nicholas Payton and his close personal friend, vocalist Melissa Walker. McBride arranges and conducts the project, which has been a life-long dream of his. They don't call it brass for nothing. & lt;br & gt; & lt;br & gt; & lt;b & gt; & quot;The Good Feeling marks the debut of the Christian McBride Big Band, but the seeds for this album were sown in the mid-'90s. Jazz at Lincoln Center commissioned McBride to write and arrange his first major big band work & quot;Bluesin' In Alphabet City & quot;in 1995, and that experience really sparked his interest in composing for large groups. Now, sixteen years after the ink dried on that number, it appears in the penultimate position on his first big band recording. & lt;br & gt; & lt;br & gt; & quot;Over the course of eleven tracks, McBride manages to present music that's respectful of big band traditions, while also showcasing his own unique compositional voice. On one piece, the band might be playing over a pedal-to-the-metal swing pulse, with a string of strong soloists selling their wares over feisty backgrounds that come and go ( & quot;In A Hurry & quot;), while another number might sound like a cross between & quot;Maiden Voyage & quot; and funky Freddie Hubbard-style fare ( & quot;Brother Mister & quot;), as distilled through the mind of one of jazz's most talented, high profile bassists. & lt;br & gt; & lt;br & gt; & quot;The instrumentalists rule the roost on this album, but McBride makes room for vocalist Melissa Walker on a few numbers, and she brings class to the proceedings. Walker's first feature, & quot;When I Fall In Love, & quot; opens with McBride's elegant arco work, and contains some charming piano soloing from Xavier Davis, while the band cooks behind her vocals on the waltzing & quot;A Taste Of Honey. & quot; & quot;The More I See You & quot; opens in a relatively calm state, with Walker singing the verse, but things really heat up later, when a Sonny Payne-style triplet build-up from drummer Ulysses Owens, Jr. leads to some shouting brass. & lt;br & gt; & lt;br & gt; & quot;While the vocal standards tend to showcase McBride's more conservative, in-the-tradition arrangements, his own & quot;Science Fiction & quot; shows what he can do when he moves away from the norm. This number proves to be an episodic odyssey full of wonder and surprise. Suspense gives way to sounds of the bold and big variety, and Davis and McBride set things in motion with driving, hook-laden riffs. Seismic shifts take place in certain places, while more subtle adjustments are at play throughout the piece. McBride utilizes flutes and bass clarinet in expert fashion, and these instruments help to broaden the overall sound of the band. & lt;br & gt; & lt;br & gt; & quot;Featuring McBride at the top of his game, The Good Feeling, like its creator, is steeped in tradition while remaining tapped into what's current and exciting in jazz today. & quot; & lt;/b & gt; - Dan Bilawsky, allaboutjazz.com, September 18, 2011 & lt;br & gt; & lt;br & gt; Since 1989 when bassist Christian McBride moved to New York at the age of 17, the Philadelphia native has been one of the most important and influential artists of his generation. He's not only developed into a top-tier solo artist who is equally adept on acoustic and electric bass, but he's also been the go-to bass sideman, with support duties ranging from Herbie Hancock and Chick Corea to Diana Krall and Sting. Over a period of 20 years, McBride has been documented on over 250 recordings. & lt;br & gt; & lt;br & gt; Recorded & amp; Mixed at Avatar Studios, New York, NY & lt;br & gt; & lt;br & gt; & lt;b & gt;Features: & lt;/b & gt; & lt;br & gt; 180g Vinyl & lt;br & gt; Double LP & lt;br & gt; Pressed at URP & lt;br & gt; Mastered by Mastered by Kevin Gray at Cohearent Audio & lt;br & gt; & lt;br & gt; & lt;b & gt;Musicians: & lt;/b & gt; & lt;br & gt; Christian McBride, bass, arranger, conductor & lt;br & gt; Steve Wilson, alto saxophone, flute & lt;br & gt; Todd Bashore, alto saxophone, flute & lt;br & gt; Ron Blake, tenor & amp; soprano saxophone, flute & lt;br & gt; Todd Williams, tenor saxophone, flute & lt;br & gt; Loren Schoenberg, tenor saxophone (1/2, 2/3) & lt;br & gt; Carl Maraghi, baritone saxophone, bass clarinet & lt;br & gt; Frank Greene, trumpet & lt;br & gt; Freddie Hendrix, trumpet & lt;br & gt; Nicholas Payton, trumpet & lt;br & gt; Nabate Isles, trumpet & lt;br & gt; Steve Davis, trombone & lt;br & gt; Michael Dease, trombone & lt;br & gt; James Burton, trombone & lt;br & gt; Douglas Purviance, bass trombone & lt;br & gt; Xavier Davis, piano & lt;br & gt; Ulysses Owens, Jr., drums & lt;br & gt; Melissa Walker, vocals & lt;br & gt; & lt;br & gt; & lt;b & gt;Selections: & lt;br & gt; LP1 - Side 1: & lt;br & gt; & lt;/b & gt;1. & lt;font color= & quot;#FF0000 & quot; & gt; & lt;b & gt;First Time Available On 180g 2-Disc Vinyl! Grammy Nominated for Best Improvised Jazz Solo & quot;J. Mac & quot; & amp; Best Jazz Instrumental Album! Kevin Gray/Cohearant Vinyl Mastering & lt;/b & gt; & lt;/font & gt; & lt;br & gt; & lt;br & gt; Over the course of a stellar career that has spanned more than 30 years, saxophonist Kenny Garrett has become the preeminent alto saxophonist of his generation. From his first gig with the Duke Ellington Orchestra (led by Mercer Ellington) through his time spent with musicians such as Freddie Hubbard, Woody Shaw, Art Blakey & amp; The Jazz Messengers and Miles Davis, Garrett has always brought a vigorous yet melodic, and truly distinctive, alto saxophone sound to each musical situation. As a bandleader for the last two decades, he has also continually grown as a composer. With his second recording for Mack Avenue Records, Seeds From The Underground, Garrett has given notice that these qualities have not only become more impressive, but have provided him with the platform to expand his horizons and communicate his musical vision clearly. Seeds From The Underground is a powerful return to the straight-ahead, acoustic and propulsive quartet format that showcases Garretts extraordinary abilities. & lt;br & gt; & lt;br & gt; & lt;b & gt; & quot;Seeds From the Underground is music about people, past and present, who planted seeds in my life - directly and indirectly. It's not a dedication record although there are songs dedicated to certain people. & quot; & lt;/b & gt; - Kenny Garrett & lt;br & gt; & lt;br & gt; & lt;b & gt; & quot;Kenny Garrett is one of the most respected and frequently imitated saxophonists in the jazz world, but he might not have reached his full potential if not for those who guided him and showed him the way. & amp;nbsp; While some musicians try to rewrite history when they make it big, turning their backs on the nurturing forces and influential individuals that kept them on the righteous path, Garrett doesn't fall into that category. & amp;nbsp; He gives credit where credit is due, and Seeds From the Underground. is the proof. & lt;br & gt; & lt;br & gt; & quot;Garrett wrote ten musical 'thank you' notes for this project, which honors his family, friends, mentors and musical influences. & amp;nbsp; While the songs run the gamut from subdued to explosive, the most impressive material is the edgy, late '60s-influenced fare. & amp;nbsp; Garrett's pianist - the underexposed Benito Gonzalez - puts a Latin-inflected, postmodern slant on the McCoy Tyner sound, and drummer Ronald Bruner is relentless, driving the music with punchy fills and on-top-of-the-beat cymbal work. & amp;nbsp; This pairing proves to be potent, and both men can be seen as the combinatorial impetus behind Garrett's most aggressive and outspoken playing. & amp;nbsp; Two prime examples come in the form of a hard hitting nod to saxophone maverick Jackie McLean ( & quot;J. Mac & quot;) and a waltzing tribute to Roy Haynes ( & quot;Haynes Here & quot;), but others are scattered throughout... & quot; & lt;/b & gt; - Dan Bilawsky, allaboutjazz.com, April 30, 2012 & lt;br & gt; & lt;br & gt; & lt;b & gt; & quot;With a generous, enthusiastic playing style that makes him a concert favorite, Garrett has become a quintessential jazz musician who will take on any challenge, and make the result sound good. & quot; & lt;/b & gt; - Boston Globe & lt;br & gt; & lt;br & gt; & lt;b & gt; & quot;Among the most fluent and soulful alto saxophonists to emerge post-Coltrane, Garrett is back in acoustic mode. As always, his playing is powerfully insistent, moving upward from one plateau to the next. It's also amazingly conversational; his lines punctuate and flow in such a way that he seems to be speaking to the listener... & quot; & lt;/b & gt; - San Jose Mercury News & lt;br & gt; & lt;br & gt; & lt;b & gt;Features: & lt;/b & gt; & lt;br & gt; 180g Virgin Vinyl & lt;br & gt; Double LP & lt;br & gt; Pressed at URP in Nashville & lt;br & gt; Kevin Gray/Cohearant Vinyl Mastering & lt;br & gt; & lt;br & gt; & lt;b & gt;Musicians: & lt;/b & gt; & lt;br & gt; Kenny Garrett, alto saxophone, soprano saxophone, piano & lt;br & gt; Benito Gonzalez, piano & lt;br & gt; Nat Reeves, bass & lt;br & gt; Ronald Bruner, drums & lt;br & gt; Rudy Bird, bata, percussion & lt;br & gt; Nedelka Prescod, vocals & lt;br & gt; Sengbe Kona Khasu, vocals (LP2/3) & lt;br & gt; Donald Brown, vocals (LP2/3) & lt;br & gt; Rudy Bird, vocals (LP2/3) & lt;br & gt; Misha Tarasov, vocals (LP2/3) & lt;br & gt; Rusty Chops, vocals (LP2/3) & lt;br & gt; & lt;br & gt; & lt;b & gt;Selections: & lt;br & gt; LP1 - Side 1: & lt;/b & gt; & lt;br & gt; 1. & amp;#8226; Best Jazz Instrumental Album: In The Key Of The Universe & lt;/p & gt;
& lt;/header & gt;
As hes made abundantly clear over the past 30 years, Joey DeFrancesco has plenty of soul. What most listeners probably havent spent much time pondering is that souls place in the universe. On his adventurous album, In The Key Of The Universe, the master organist turns his musical attentions to his spiritual side, tapping into a strain of metaphysical jazz thats fueled sonic searchers for more than half a century. Joey D calls upon disciples and missionaries of jazz to join him in paving the way to enlightenment. & lt;br & gt; & lt;br & gt; In The Key Of The Universe arrives almost exactly 50 years after the release of Karma, the landmark album by legendary saxophonist Pharoah Sanders. One of the primary exponents of spiritually-oriented jazz, Sanders makes three guest appearances on the album, including an update of his best-known track from Karma, the cosmically influential The Creator Has A Master Plan. Playing drums on that track was the great Billy Hart, who reunites with Sanders as well as DeFrancesco, with whom hes worked several times over the years since joining the organist for his 1989 album Where WERE You? & lt;br & gt; & lt;br & gt; Hart makes up part of the core band for In The Key Of The Universe along with percussion virtuoso Sammy Figueroa, another Where WERE You? alum who has played with almost literally everyone over the years, from Miles Davis and Sonny Rollins to David Bowie and Patti Smith to Mariah Carey and Diana Ross. The multi-talented saxophonist Troy Roberts, a frequent collaborator in recent years, shows off his skills on tenor, soprano, alto, and even the acoustic bass. At the center of it all is the always scintillating organ work of DeFrancesco, who retains his trademark robust swing and gritty funk while striking out in freer, more exploratory directions. & lt;br & gt; & lt;br & gt; & lt;b & gt; & quot;Make no mistake, the signature Joey D burn is still very much in effect here, as he demonstrates on & quot;Awake and Blissed & quot; and the boppish & quot;It Swung Wide Open. & quot; But there's a heightened intent that goes beyond the earthly confines of the B-3 lounge. DeFrancesco seeks higher ground on this ambitious outing, and with the presence of the shaman-like (Pharaoh) Sanders, he succeeds. & quot; & lt;/b & gt; - Bill Milkowski, & lt;i & gt;The Absolute Sound & lt;/i & gt;, May/June 2019 & lt;br & gt; & lt;br & gt; & lt;b & gt; & quot;There is no organist who is regarded by his peers and critics to such a degree. & quot; & lt;/b & gt; - Audiophile Audition & lt;br & gt; & lt;br & gt; & lt;b & gt; & quot;Applying his finger-popping chops on organ and Fender Rhodes and pungent trumpet to timely themes of social justice, DeFrancesco digs into the zeitgeist, raising rippling waves of joy and hope in dark times. & quot; & lt;/b & gt; - DownBeat & lt;br & gt; & lt;br & gt; & lt;b & gt; & quot;We hold this truth to be self-evident: All organists are not created equal, for Joey DeFrancesco is the best Hammond organist on the planet strike that, in the universe. In the Key of the Universe honors pioneering forefathers of free jazz saxophonist Pharaoh Sanders appears on three tunes while saying something new about this music of spiritual transcendence. & quot; & lt;/b & gt; - NPR, Best Albums Of 2019 (So Far) & lt;br & gt; & lt;br & gt; & lt;b & gt; & quot;It's an understatement to call Joey DeFrancesco his generation's pre-eminent Hammond B-3 organist. For 30 years, he's carried the torch of soul jazz into a contemporary framework, even when collaborating with Van Morrison or interpreting the music of Michael Jackson. On his latest project he's reaching for something deeper, with a record that takes inspiration from the likes of Alice Coltrane and Pharoah Sanders. With this amiable set, DeFrancesco expands his palette while remaining true to his well-established reputation. Go ahead, spend an hour with this record while contemplating the mysteries of the universe. & quot; & lt;/b & gt; - John Frederic Moore, JAZZIZ & lt;br & gt; & lt;br & gt; & lt;b & gt;Features: & lt;/b & gt; & lt;br & gt; & amp;bull; Double LP & lt;br & gt; & amp;bull; Purple Marbled Vinyl & lt;br & gt; & amp;bull; Vinyl mastering by Chris Muth at Taloowa Mastering & lt;br & gt; & amp;bull; Gatefold jacket & lt;br & gt; & amp;bull; Limited time digital album download & lt;br & gt; & lt;br & gt; & lt;b & gt;Musicians: & lt;/b & gt; & lt;br & gt; Joey DeFrancesco, organ, keyboard, trumpet & lt;br & gt; Pharoah Sanders, tenor saxophone, vocals & lt;br & gt; Billy Hart, drums & lt;br & gt; Troy Roberts, saxophones, acoustic bass & lt;br & gt; Sammy Figueroa, percussion & lt;br & gt; & lt;br & gt; & lt;b & gt;Selections: & lt;br & gt; Side A: & lt;/b & gt; & lt;br & gt; 1. Tower of Power Step Up 2LP (Vinyl)
& lt;header & gt;
& lt;p & gt; & lt;strong & gt;Legendary Soul Band On Double LP! & lt;/strong & gt; & lt;/p & gt;
& lt;/header & gt;
& lt;p & gt; & lt;strong & gt; & quot;We knew when we went into the studio, we were going to make the best record that we could make - the best album of our career. And we did. We took it to another level. & quot; & lt;/strong & gt; - Emilio Castillo & lt;/p & gt;
& lt;p & gt;With a landmark 50th anniversary album, 2018's Soul Side of Town, still visible in their rearview mirror, one would think Tower of Power (or TOP, as it is more often referred to by its global legion of fans), the much-lauded creators of their own horn-based, hybrid brand of East Bay soul/funk/R & amp;B/rock, would take a well-deserved breather. But that is not in the band's DNA, nor that of its founder and ringmaster, tenor saxophonist and bandleader Emilio Castillo. & lt;/p & gt;
& lt;p & gt;With Step Up, the band forges on into the next decade of the 21st century, keeping to its continuous hardcore tour schedule (200 days a year!) and ongoing reinvigoration with the continual addition of new talent, most notably the phenomenal young lead vocalist, Marcus Scott, among many others. Marcus replaced TOP's longtime lead singer, Ray Greene, who makes his final appearance with the band on Step Up. Also taking his bows on the new album is 30-year TOP veteran bassist Francis 'Rocco' Prestia, who is stepping back from life on the road and whose driving fingerstyle funk is ably replaced on tour by Marc Van Wageningen. & lt;/p & gt;
& lt;p & gt;From the band's debut up to Step Up, the Tower of Power sound remains true to Emilio's original musical vision: reach inside the deep, multidimensional well of what is broadly called soul music and bring together all its diverse components in a singular, emotional sound. & lt;/p & gt;

& lt;p & gt; & lt;strong & gt; & quot;The songs on this album are of dreams and daggers. The daggers have been used at times to attack, at times to defend. For power, no doubt, to take it, to keep it. The dreams are the ones I caught looking out a window, or from the light sleep before the deep. I don't always know what they mean, but they are the ones I was able to keep. And yet dreams can be desires too. I wrote them down to make them true. That we may bring our wildness into view. That we may be unruled and unruly. & quot; & lt;/strong & gt; - Cecile McLorin Salvant & lt;/p & gt;

Gary Burton Take Another Look: A Career Retrospective 180g 5LP Box Set (Vinyl)
& lt;font color= & quot;#FF0000 & quot; & gt; & lt;b & gt;Limited Edition 180g Vinyl 5LP Box Set! & lt;br & gt; First Career-Spanning Collection! Pressed at RTI! & lt;/b & gt; & lt;/font & gt; & lt;br & gt; & lt;br & gt; Take Another Look encompasses the entirety of Gary Burton's 50+-year career, from his attention-grabbing early releases for industry powerhouse RCA Victor, through his wide-ranging sessions for Atlantic and his iconic ECM recordings, on to his fusion-era reinvention on GRP and his eclectic and generation-spanning efforts for Concord and Mack Avenue. This limited-run 5-LP box set (2-piece telescoping box) contains 180-gram black vinyl, 5 LP jackets and 12-page booklet. The set includes photos from Gary's personal collection and includes one previously unreleased track - & quot;Elucidation. & quot; Neil Tesser wrote the liner notes. & lt;br & gt; & lt;br & gt; Born in 1943 and raised in Indiana, Gary Burton taught himself to play the vibraphone and, at the age of 17, made his recording debut in Nashville, Tennessee, with guitarists Hank Garland and Chet Atkins. Two years later, Burton left his studies at Berklee College of Music to join George Shearing and subsequently Stan Getz, with whom he worked from 1964-1966. As a member of Getz's quartet, Burton won Down Beat magazine's Talent Deserving of Wider Recognition award in 1965. By the time he left Getz to form his own quartet in 1967, Burton had also recorded three albums under his name for RCA. Borrowing rhythms and sonorities from rock music, while maintaining jazz's emphasis on improvisation and harmonic complexity, Burtons first quartet attracted large audiences from both sides of the jazz-rock spectrum. Such albums as Duster and Lofty Fake Anagram established Burton and his band as progenitors of the jazz fusion phenomenon. & lt;br & gt; & lt;br & gt; & lt;b & gt; & quot;Throughout the 75 year old Burton's sprawling career, he's successfully taken note of and made use of cultural fashion, and mixed mallets with jazz, country and rock. In 2017 he decided to call it a career while still at the top of his game. This box set isn't grand enough to encapsulate all of Burton's musical accomplishments but it does a great job of giving listeners both a healthy dose of it and a means by which to explore some of the great original LP stops along the way. Add nice packaging, an excellently produced, written (by Neil Tesser) and presented full sized booklet, careful and competent mastering and pressing at RTI and you have a worthy send off Gary Burton set.... A superbly produced career retrospective that also serves as a buying guide for the great albums Burton created along the way. & quot; & lt;/b & gt; - Michael Fremer, Analog Planet, Music 10/11, Sound 9/11 & lt;br & gt; & lt;br & gt; & lt;b & gt;Features: & lt;/b & gt; & lt;br & gt; & amp;bull; Limited Edition & lt;br & gt; & amp;bull; 5LP Box Set & lt;br & gt; & amp;bull; 180g Vinyl & lt;br & gt; & amp;bull; Pressed at RTI & lt;br & gt; & amp;bull; 35 definitive tracks, including previously unreleased recording of & quot;Elucidation & quot; & lt;br & gt; & amp;bull; All star cast of jazz greats & lt;br & gt; & amp;bull; 2-piece telescoping box & lt;br & gt; & amp;bull; 5LP jackets & lt;br & gt; & amp;bull; Deluxe 12-page booklet featuring rare photos and ephemera & lt;br & gt; & amp;bull; Liner notes by Grammy Award-winning writer Neil Tesser & lt;br & gt; & amp;bull; Limited time digital download card & lt;br & gt; & lt;br & gt; & lt;b & gt;Selections: & lt;br & gt; Disc One: RCA Victor Recordings & lt;br & gt; Side A: & lt;/b & gt; & lt;br & gt; 1. Cecile McLorin Salvant The Window 2LP (Vinyl)

In just under the span of a decade she has evolved from a darling of jazz critics and fans, to a multi-GRAMMY® Award winner and a prescient, fearless voice in music today. The Window, an album of duets with the pianist Sullivan Fortner, explores and extends the tradition of the piano-vocal duo and its expressive possibilities. With just Fortner's deft accompaniment to support McLorin Salvant, the two are free to improvise and rhapsodize, to play freely with time, harmony, melody and phrasing. & lt;br & gt; & lt;br & gt; When Cécile McLorin Salvant arrived at the Kennedy Center in Washington, DC to compete in the finals of the 2010 Thelonious Monk International Jazz Competition, she was not only the youngest finalist, but also a mystery woman with the most unusual background of any of the participants. When she walked away with first place in the jazz world's most prestigious contest, the buzz began almost immediately. The New York Times now calls her & lt;b & gt;'the finest jazz singer to emerge in the last decade' & lt;/b & gt;. & lt;br & gt; & lt;br & gt; & lt;b & gt; & quot;She has poise, elegance, soul, humor, sensuality, power, virtuosity, range, insight, intelligence, depth and grace, & quot; & lt;/b & gt; Wynton Marsalis asserts. & lt;b & gt; & quot;I've never heard a singer of her generation who has such a command of styles, & quot; remarks pianist Aaron Diehl. & quot;She radiates authority. & quot; & lt;/b & gt; & lt;br & gt; & lt;br & gt; & lt;b & gt;Features: & lt;/b & gt; & lt;br & gt; & amp;bull; Double LP & lt;br & gt; & amp;bull; Gatefold jacket & lt;br & gt; & amp;bull; Limited time digital download card & lt;br & gt; & lt;br & gt; & lt;b & gt;Musicians: & lt;/b & gt; & lt;br & gt; Cécile McLorin Salvant, vocals & lt;br & gt; Sullivan Fortner, piano, organ & lt;br & gt; & lt;br & gt; & lt;b & gt;Selections: & lt;/b & gt; & lt;br & gt; 1. When Philadelphia-born bassist/bandleader Christian McBride arrived in New York in 1989 as a Juilliard student, he was the Godchild of the Groove with unlimited potential. Today, with over 300 recordings as a sideman and 11 critically- acclaimed albums as a leader, he now reigns supreme as the Lord of the Lower Frequencies. Hes the influential and ubiquitous bassist of his generation, as evidenced by his quintet Inside Straight, his big band, his trio and his work with everybody from James Brown, Pat Metheny, Chick Corea and Wynton Marsalis to Sting, The Roots, Bruce Hornsby and Paul McCartney. & lt;br & gt; & lt;br & gt; Jawn [jän]: noun. A slang terminology from Philadelphia. All-purpose term for a person, place or thing. & lt;br & gt; & lt;br & gt; Sure, Christian McBride could have called his new ensemble the Christian McBride Quartet or the Christian McBride Group, or any number of other, somewhat more straitlaced variations on that basic theme. But this new chordless quartet with trumpeter Josh Evans, saxophonist Marcus Strickland, and drummer Nasheet Waits arrives with a bit too much grit under its fingernails to warrant a name quite that buttoned up. If theres one thing the acclaimed bassist knows, its that when it comes to grit theres no better resource to draw from than his own hometown, Philadelphia. So, McBride turned to one of the citys most beloved colloquialisms to christen his latest project, Christian McBrides New Jawn. On the bands eponymous debut, these four stellar musicians ably walk the razors edge between thrilling virtuosity and gut-punch instinctiveness. & lt;br & gt; & lt;br & gt; & lt;b & gt; & quot;McBride's & quot;Walkin' Funny & quot; is aptly titled with its broken time and collective improvisation while Evans' & quot;The Ballad of Ernie Washington & quot; is a beautiful feature for his trumpet. Strickland's & quot;The Middle Man & quot; is Ornette-ish free bop, his & quot;Seek the Source & quot; a medium blues over a simple bass line, and McBride's & quot;John Day & quot; is a slow waltz that is given a positive flavor via Strickland's bass clarinet. During McBride's almost 30-year recording career he has consistently demonstrated the ability to fit in any musical setting he chooses. After hearing this new quartet, I look forward to seeing what's next. & quot; & lt;/b & gt;- Greg Turner, & lt;i & gt;The Absolute Sound & lt;/i & gt;, February 2019 & lt;br & gt; & lt;br & gt; & lt;b & gt;Features: & lt;/b & gt; & lt;br & gt; & amp;bull; Double LP & lt;br & gt; & amp;bull; Gatefold jacket & lt;br & gt; & amp;bull; Limited time digital download card & lt;br & gt; & lt;br & gt; & lt;b & gt;Musicians: & lt;/b & gt; & lt;br & gt; Christian McBride, bass & lt;br & gt; Josh Evans, trumpet & lt;br & gt; Marcus Strickland, tenor sax, bass clarinet & lt;br & gt; Nasheet Waits, drums & lt;br & gt; & lt;br & gt; & lt;b & gt;Selections: & lt;br & gt; Side A: & lt;/b & gt; & lt;br & gt; 1. The Christian McBride Trio Live At the Village Vanguard 180g 2LP (Vinyl)
& lt;font color= & quot;#FF0000 & quot; & gt; & lt;b & gt;180g Vinyl Double LP! & lt;br & gt; & lt;/b & gt; & lt;/font & gt; & lt;br & gt; & lt;font color= & quot;#FF0000 & quot; & gt; & lt;b & gt;2016 Grammy Award Winner! & lt;br & gt; Best Improvised Jazz Solo: Cherokee & lt;/b & gt; & lt;/font & gt; & lt;br & gt; & lt;br & gt; It is fitting that the four-time Grammy® Award-winning Christian McBride would eventually record at the Village Vanguard, the most hallowed and historical nightclub in jazz: an underground Mount Olympus where the gods and titans of the music from John Coltrane to Bill Evans have cast their syncopated spells. & lt;br & gt; & lt;br & gt; You can literally feel the ghosts of all of the legends that played there, McBride says. You feel Coltrane hovering in the vortex. You feel Monk hovering in the vortex. Miles Davis, Mingus...you feel all of that in the air. & lt;br & gt; & lt;br & gt; Recorded over three consecutive nights in December of 2014, Live at the Village Vanguard showcases bassist Christian McBride and his trio in concert at the storied New York venue. A four-time Grammy winner, McBride has been a superstar in the jazz world since debuting as a teenager in the late '80s. & lt;br & gt; & lt;br & gt; Here, McBride is joined by his trio bandmates, pianist Christian Sands and drummer Ulysses Owens, Jr. This is the same outfit that recorded the swinging, sophisticated 2013 studio album Out Here. As with that release, Live at the Village Vanguard finds McBride diving headlong into a set of swaggering, lively standards, originals, and unexpected covers, including a take on the theme to the cult '70s comedy film Car Wash. & lt;br & gt; & lt;br & gt; This record is the fruit of McBrides long association with the Vanguard, where his first appearance as a leader for the historic club was in 1995. In 2007, the bassist and charismatic club owner Lorraine Gordon started an annual one-week residency, which featured McBrides quintet, Inside Straight. & lt;br & gt; & lt;br & gt; When Philadelphia-born bassist/bandleader Christian McBride arrived in New York in 1989 as a Juilliard student, he was the Godchild of the Groove with unlimited potential. Today, with over 300 recordings as a sideman and 11 critically-acclaimed albums as a leader, he now reigns supreme as the Lord of the Lower Frequencies. & lt;br & gt; & lt;br & gt; & lt;b & gt;Features: & lt;/b & gt; & lt;br & gt; 180g Vinyl & lt;br & gt; Double LP & lt;br & gt; & lt;br & gt; & lt;b & gt;Selections: & lt;br & gt; LP 1 & lt;br & gt; Side A: & lt;/b & gt; & lt;br & gt; 1. Christian McBride & Inside Straight Live At The Village Vanguard 180g 2LP (Vinyl)
& lt;header & gt;
& lt;p & gt; & lt;strong & gt;December 2014 Live Set On 180g Vinyl Double LP! & lt;/strong & gt; & lt;/p & gt;
& lt;/header & gt;
& lt;p & gt;While attending a show at the Village Vanguard in 2006, it occurred to Christian McBride that he hadn't played there in nearly 9 years, as he'd been touring the world over. In June of 2007, Christian returned to the Village Vanguard with a group consisting
of Steve Wilson, Eric Reed, Carl Allen and a young vibraphonist whom he'd recently met, Warren Wolf. Due to prior commitments, Eric Reed could no longer be in the group, but pianist Peter Martin joined the group immediately upon the release of Christian
McBride & amp; Inside Straight's first Mack Avenue recording, Kind Of Brown, and Peter's been in the piano chair ever since. & lt;/p & gt;
& lt;p & gt;The Village Vanguard has been Christian McBride & amp; Inside Straight's home for one to two weeks every December. Although many iterations of his groups have played there, Inside Straight was birthed at the Village Vanguard. This particular set was recorded
in December of 2014, titled Live At The Village Vanguard. & lt;/p & gt;
