SATA port-multipliers are unidirectional splitting devices -total available transfer bandwidth is limited to that of a single SATA port, which severely limits 6G Drive performance. In addition, Port-Multipliers rely on standard eSATA connectivity which is designed for 3G transfer speeds; this further limits the performance potential of modern SATA devices & is potentially less secure for sustained data transfer.
