It's constructed of Shorea tropical hardwood - heavy, dense, and resistant to rot and infestation. Mortise and tenon joint construction adds strength and longevity. Easy assembly using solid wood dowels. Slatted table top allow water to pass through which prevents ponding. Table leg joinery is wood-to-wood for solid union. Removable plug allows for an umbrella. Left untreated, shorea will weather to a soft warm shade of gray similar to the weathering of teak. Will last for years in all weather conditions. Teak is known to be superior to other woods for outdoor furniture applications. The beautiful dense grain and high oil content of Teak allow it to resist rot, moisture, warping, and splintering. Wood weathers naturally to a beautiful silvery gray color unless treated. To slow the graying process and enhance the natural wood color, we recommend Cabot Australian Timber Oil, Teak Shield, or any other quality timber protector seasonally.
