He wrote the following in 1896 to his bride at that time, Anna von Mildenburg, from his hermitage on Lake Attersee: & quot; But I have already written you that I am at work on a large creation. Now, try to imagine a work so large that it actually reflects the entire world - one is, so to speak, only an instrument upon which the universe plays. My Symphony will be something the likes of which the world has not yet heard! All of Nature receives a voice in it and tells deeply secret things that one might have sensed in dreams! I tell you, sometimes I myself have an uncanny feeling at some places in the work, and it seems to me as if I had not made it myself at all. & quot; & lt;br & gt; & lt;br & gt; This medial transparency, in which the creative artist is depersonalized to the point of being a mere tool of higher powers, is the key to the understanding of this symphony, which, by virtue of its dimensions alone, requires totality: a performance duration of approximately one and a half hours. Thus, the work tolerates no other music played before or after it. & lt;br & gt; & lt;br & gt; Live Recording by the Bavarian Broadcasting Company on April 20, 1967. & lt;br & gt; & lt;br & gt; & lt;b & gt;Features: & lt;/b & gt; & lt;br & gt; • 180 Gram Virgin Vinyl & lt;br & gt; • From the Analogue Tapes in the Bavarian Radio Archives! & lt;br & gt; • Pressed in Germany & lt;br & gt; • Gatefold Jacket & lt;br & gt; & lt;br & gt; Musicians: & lt;br & gt; Symphonie-Orchester und Frauenchor des Bayerischen Rundfunks & lt;br & gt; Rafael Kubelik, conductor & lt;br & gt; Tolzer Knabenchor (Tolz Boys Choir) & lt;br & gt; Marjorie Thomas, alt & lt;br & gt; & lt;br & gt; & lt;b & gt;Selections: & lt;br & gt; Gustav Mahler (1860-1911) & lt;br & gt; Symphony No. 3 & lt;br & gt; LP1 - Side A: & lt;br & gt; & lt;/b & gt; 1. & lt;font color= & quot;#FF0000 & quot; & gt; & lt;b & gt;Pressed in Germany on 180g Vinyl! Direct Metal Master Cut! & lt;/b & gt; & lt;/font & gt; & lt;br & gt; & lt;br & gt; The LP Edvard Grieg: Symphonic Works Vol. II presents more highlights from Audite’s complete edition of Grieg’s symphonic works on 180g vinyl: his second Peer Gynt suite from the incidental music to Henrik Ibsen’s drama Peer Gynt, the story of the “Nordic Faust” which inspired Grieg to compose a sonic panorama of the Norwegian character – from the melancholy song of the abandoned Solveig to Peer Gynt’s stormy homecoming; the Funeral March in Memory of Rikard Nordraak which Grieg wrote after the death of his close friend; the famous suite From Holberg’s Time, a homage to Ludvig Holberg, the caustic “Molière of the North”; and Klokkeklang (Bell Ringing) – an almost impressionist study documenting a surprisingly visionary trait of the otherwise rather conservative composer. & lt;br & gt; & lt;br & gt; The mythical stage characters, the vivid portrayal of landscapes and the Nordic dance rhythms are presented in audiophile vinyl LP sound. & lt;br & gt; & lt;br & gt; Each LP purchase includes a voucher for a limited time free Mp3 and HD stereo download of these works: audite would like to offer access to digital and mobile listening to all its LP devotees as well. & lt;br & gt; & lt;br & gt; “The time has come to step forward with a work which is notable in both form and content.” These were the words of Edvard Grieg’s publisher, reminding the composer of the major genres of the time: symphony, oratorio, opera. But Grieg did not feel the need to write another symphony and another opera in the Middle European style. He wanted to give Norway its unique voice within European concert repertoire. And he did that with songs and piano pieces – and particularly with his symphonic works, released by audite in a five-part complete recording with Eivind Aadland and the WDR Symphony Orchestra. & lt;br & gt; & lt;br & gt; Eivind Aadland’s roots in the tradition of Norwegian folk music audibly influence his interpretations. He comes from a family where Norwegian folk music played an important role, and even as a child he came into intensive contact with Grieg’s music. Ideal prerequisites therefore to rediscover Grieg’s symphonic works against the background of this tradition. Grieg’s connections with Germany stretch from his studies in Leipzig to his numerous concert performances in that country. Added to that is the extraordinary circulation of his works in Germany. This recording with the WDR Symphony Orchestra Cologne therefore also represents, on several levels, a German-Norwegian synthesis which had already been in existence during Grieg’s lifetime. & lt;br & gt; & lt;br & gt; & lt;b & gt;Features: & lt;/b & gt; & lt;br & gt; • 180g Vinyl & lt;br & gt; • Direct Metal Master Cut & lt;br & gt; • Voucher for a limited time free Mp3 and HD stereo download & lt;br & gt; • Pressed in Germany & lt;br & gt; • Gatefold Jacket & lt;br & gt; & lt;br & gt; & lt;b & gt;Musicians: & lt;/b & gt; & lt;br & gt; WDR Symphony Orchestra Cologne & lt;br & gt; Eivind Aadland, conductor & lt;br & gt; & lt;br & gt; & lt;b & gt;Selections: & lt;br & gt; Edvard Grieg (1843-1907) & lt;br & gt; Side A: & lt;br & gt; Peer Gynt Suite No.2, Op. 55 & lt;/b & gt; & lt;br & gt; Incidental music to Peer Gynt by Isen & lt;br & gt; 1. His closeness to nature, nostalgic homeland reminiscences, the outcry of a restless soul and the dramatic and sudden changes in atmosphere are already found in his first four symphonies. But now the oppressiveness which haunts the first two movements seems unable to be pacified by the following three: The realms of consolation and deliverance are this time kept from the composer (and the listener), he is thrown back into his loneliness and his inner tension. The fruitful collaboration over many decades between Kubelik and the Bavarian Radio Symphony Orchestra reached unique high points in Mahler’s symphonies again and again. Mahler’s Fifth Symphony appears here as a live recording from the Herkules Hall of the Munich Residenz. & lt;br & gt; & lt;br & gt; Live Recording by the Bavarian Broadcasting Company on June 12, 1981. & lt;br & gt; & lt;br & gt; & lt;b & gt;Features: & lt;/b & gt; & lt;br & gt; • 180 Gram Virgin Vinyl & lt;br & gt; • From the Analogue Tapes in the Bavarian Radio Archives! & lt;br & gt; • Pressed in Germany & lt;br & gt; • Gatefold Jacket & lt;br & gt; & lt;br & gt; Musicians: & lt;br & gt; Symphonie-Orchester des Bayerischen Rundfunks & lt;br & gt; Rafael Kubelik, conductor & lt;br & gt; & lt;br & gt; & lt;b & gt;Selections: & lt;br & gt; Gustav Mahler (1860-1911) & lt;br & gt; Symphony No. 5 & lt;br & gt; LP1 - Side A: & lt;br & gt; & lt;/b & gt; 1. He pressed forward with the Mahler Renaissance in post-war Germany as one of its main protagonists against the initially reserved attitude of the public and critics. In Munich, he realized one of the first complete Mahler cycles. The fruitful collaboration over many decades between Kubelik and the Bavarian Radio Symphony Orchestra reached unique high points in Mahler’s symphonies again and again. Mahler’s Seventh Symphony appears here in a live recording from the Herkulessaal of the Munich Residenz made on February 5, 1976. & lt;br & gt; & lt;br & gt; Live Recording by the Bavarian Broadcasting Company on February 5, 1976. & lt;br & gt; & lt;br & gt; & lt;b & gt;Features: & lt;/b & gt; & lt;br & gt; • 180 Gram Virgin Vinyl & lt;br & gt; • From the Analogue Tapes in the Bavarian Radio Archives! & lt;br & gt; • Pressed in Germany & lt;br & gt; • Gatefold Jacket & lt;br & gt; & lt;br & gt; Musicians: & lt;br & gt; Symphonie-Orchester des Bayerischen Rundfunks & lt;br & gt; Rafael Kubelik, conductor & lt;br & gt; & lt;br & gt; & lt;b & gt;Selections: & lt;br & gt; Gustav Mahler (1860-1911) & lt;br & gt; Symphony No. 7 & lt;br & gt; LP1 - Side A: & lt;br & gt; & lt;/b & gt; 1. Mahler himself called his Sixth the & quot;Tragic. & quot; It unconditionally duplicates the imaginary hero’s path into the final and ultimate downfall. Its instrumentation has grown to gigantic proportions, its expression intensified to the utmost. The Bavarian Radio Symphony Orchestra tackles this act of power with bravura: enormous expressive power and the highest technical precision are combined in Kubelik’s direction to form an impressive sonic experience. & lt;br & gt; & lt;br & gt; Live Recording by the Bavarian Broadcasting Company on December 6, 1968. & lt;br & gt; & lt;br & gt; & lt;b & gt;Features: & lt;/b & gt; & lt;br & gt; • 180 Gram Virgin Vinyl & lt;br & gt; • From the Analogue Tapes in the Bavarian Radio Archives! & lt;br & gt; • Pressed in Germany & lt;br & gt; • Gatefold Jacket & lt;br & gt; & lt;br & gt; Musicians: & lt;br & gt; Symphonie-Orchester des Bayerischen Rundfunks & lt;br & gt; Rafael Kubelik, conductor & lt;br & gt; & lt;br & gt; & lt;b & gt;Selections: & lt;br & gt; Gustav Mahler (1860-1911) & lt;br & gt; Symphony No. 6 & lt;br & gt; LP1 - Side A: & lt;br & gt; & lt;/b & gt; 1. Mahler’s own programmatic references offer an important means of approaching the idea behind this Symphony. & lt;br & gt; & lt;br & gt; The live recording of 8 December 1982 was made in the Herkulessaal of the Residenz in Munich; the Bavarian Radio Symphony Orchestra and Choir perform under the proven leadership of the Mahler specialist, Rafael Kubelik. & lt;br & gt; & lt;br & gt; & lt;b & gt; & quot; When I conceive a large musical structure, I always come to the point where I must bring in the word as a carrier of my musical idea… & quot; & lt;/b & gt; – Gustav Mahler & lt;br & gt; & lt;br & gt; Live Recording by the Bavarian Broadcasting Company on October 8, 1982. & lt;br & gt; & lt;br & gt; & lt;b & gt;Features: & lt;/b & gt; & lt;br & gt; • 180 Gram Virgin Vinyl & lt;br & gt; • From the Analogue Tapes in the Bavarian Radio Archives! & lt;br & gt; • Pressed in Germany & lt;br & gt; • Gatefold Jacket & lt;br & gt; & lt;br & gt; Musicians: & lt;br & gt; Symphonie-Orchester des Bayerischen Rundfunks & lt;br & gt; Chor des Bayerischen Rundfunks & lt;br & gt; Rafael Kubelik, conductor & lt;br & gt; Brigitte Fassbaender, contralto & lt;br & gt; Edith Mathis, soprano & lt;br & gt; & lt;br & gt; & lt;b & gt;Selections: & lt;br & gt; Gustav Mahler (1860-1911) & lt;br & gt; Symphony No. 2 & lt;br & gt; LP1 - Side A: & lt;/b & gt; & lt;br & gt; 1. No one had ever dared to express such an extreme alteration of feelings between apparently naïve Romanticism and utter despair in music before. The passages of idyllic transfiguration are repeatedly swept away by sudden demonic outbursts; the Finale, designated as “triumphal” by Mahler himself, cannot erase the memory of the preceding abysses and does not have the effect of a definitive resolution towards positive affirmation of life. Rafael Kubelik and the Bavarian Radio Symphony succeed in allowing the listener to experience the poetic as well as the dramatic passages with equal intensity and with a fascinating musical sense of suspense. The work appears in a live recording from the Herkulessaal of the Munich Residenz made on November 2, 1979. & lt;br & gt; & lt;br & gt; Live Recording by the Bavarian Broadcasting Company on November 2, 1979. & lt;br & gt; & lt;br & gt; & lt;b & gt;Features: & lt;/b & gt; & lt;br & gt; • 180 Gram Virgin Vinyl & lt;br & gt; • From the Analogue Tapes in the Bavarian Radio Archives! & lt;br & gt; • Pressed in Germany & lt;br & gt; • Gatefold Jacket & lt;br & gt; & lt;br & gt; Musicians: & lt;br & gt; Symphonie-Orchester des Bayerischen Rundfunks & lt;br & gt; Rafael Kubelik, conductor & lt;br & gt; & lt;br & gt; & lt;b & gt;Selections: & lt;br & gt; Gustav Mahler (1860-1911) & lt;br & gt; Symphony No. 1 & lt;br & gt; LP1 - Side A: & lt;br & gt; & lt;/b & gt; 1.
