Big Star Radio City LP (Vinyl)
& lt;header & gt; & lt;p & gt; & lt;strong & gt;180g Vinyl LP! & lt;/strong & gt; & lt;/p & gt; & lt;/header & gt; & lt;p & gt; & lt;strong & gt;Rolling Stone 500 Greatest Albums of All Time - Rated 405/500! & lt;br & gt; Rolling Stone 500 Greatest Songs of All Time - & quot;September Gurls & quot; - Rated 180/500! & lt;/strong & gt; & lt;/p & gt; & lt;p & gt;Seemingly snake-bit from the start, Big Star's pure creative side exploded with their first two albums, both of which would eventually become icons of American Power Pop. This Memphis foursome, originally founded by Chris Bell in 1971 and joined shortly thereafter by the legendary chameleon Alex Chilton, would suffer due to personnel issues and distribution problems by their label, delaying their place in musical history. One of the ultimate cult bands in popular music, #1 Record and Radio City would both influence artists-to-come such as Tom Petty, R.E.M., The Replacements and The Bangles, to name just a few. Both titles placed within Rolling Stone magazine's poll of The 500 Greatest Albums of All Time. & lt;/p & gt; & lt;p & gt;Radio City is the second album by the American rock group Big Star. Released in 1974, Radio City was recorded during 1973 at Memphis' Ardent Studios. Though not a commercial success at the time, it is now recognized as a milestone album in the history of power pop music. & lt;/p & gt; & lt;p & gt;Radio City is notable for its unique, chewy guitar sound and live-sounding yet meticulous textures. The album shows a southern US band under the influence of British Invasion bands such as The Beatles and The Kinks. & lt;/p & gt; & lt;p & gt;Radio City features the Big Star line up of Alex Chilton, Andy Hummel and Jody Stephens. & lt;/p & gt; & lt;blockquote cite= & quot;quote source & quot; & gt; On this lean, guitar-driven LP, they come up with a new, upside-down pop sound, filtering their love of the Beatles through their Memphis-soul roots. Towering achievement: the blissful, sad 'September Gurls.' & lt;footer & gt; -Rolling Stone & lt;/footer & gt; & lt;/blockquote & gt; & lt;blockquote cite= & quot;www.pastemagazine.com & quot; & gt; Reissues of Big Star's work are abundant, including multiple repressings of these albums, but unless you're willing to take out a second mortgage to afford OG copies of #1 Record and Radio City, this is truly your best bet. Both Craft pressings were taken from the original analog master tapes and sound exactly as you'd hope. The rockers explode, the ballads melt, and everything in between feels as cushy and warm as ever. If you have some Christmas cash still burning a hole in your pocket, use it to get these into your collection. & lt;footer & gt; -Robert Ham, Paste Magazine & lt;/footer & gt; & lt;/blockquote & gt; & lt;section id= & quot;features & quot; & gt; & lt;h3 & gt;Features & lt;/h3 & gt; & lt;ul & gt; & lt;li & gt;180g Vinyl LP & lt;/li & gt; & lt;li & gt;Recorded at Ardent Studios in Memphis & lt;/li & gt; & lt;li & gt;All Analog mastering by Jeff Powell at Take Out Vinyl in Memphis & lt;/li & gt; & lt;li & gt;Pressed at Memphis Record Pressing & lt;/li & gt; & lt;li & gt;Made in USA & lt;/li & gt; & lt;/ul & gt; & lt;/section & gt; & lt;section id= & quot;musicians & quot; & gt; & lt;h3 & gt;Musicians & lt;/h3 & gt; & lt;table & gt; & lt;tr & gt; & lt;th & gt;Alex Chilton & lt;/th & gt; & lt;td & gt;guitars, vocals & lt;/td & gt; & lt;/tr & gt; & lt;tr & gt; & lt;th & gt;Andy Hummel & lt;/th & gt; & lt;td & gt;bass guitar, piano, vocals & lt;/td & gt; & lt;/tr & gt; & lt;tr & gt; & lt;th & gt;Jody Stephens & lt;/th & gt; & lt;td & gt;drums, vocals & lt;/td & gt; & lt;/tr & gt; & lt;/table & gt; & lt;/section & gt; & lt;section id= & quot;selections & quot; & gt; & lt;h3 & gt;Selections & lt;/h3 & gt; & lt;h4 & gt;Side One: & lt;/h4 & gt; & lt;ol & gt; & lt;li & gt;O My Soul & lt;/li & gt; & lt;li & gt;Life Is White & lt;/li & gt; & lt;li & gt;Way Out West & lt;/li & gt; & lt;li & gt;What's Goin Ahn & lt;/li & gt; & lt;li & gt;You Get What You Deserve & lt;/li & gt; & lt;/ol & gt; & lt;h4 & gt;Side Two: & lt;/h4 & gt; & lt;ol & gt; & lt;li & gt;Mod Lang & lt;/li & gt; & lt;li & gt;Back Of A Car & lt;/li & gt; & lt;li & gt;Daisy Glaze & lt;/li & gt; & lt;li & gt;She's A Mover & lt;/li & gt; & lt;li & gt;September Gurls & lt;/li & gt; & lt;li & gt;Morpha Too & lt;/li & gt; & lt;li & gt;I'm In Love With A Girl & lt;/li & gt; & lt;/ol & gt; & lt;/section & gt;

Throughout the ’50s and ’60s, Prestige was at the forefront of modern jazz, releasing sessions from some of the most influential names in music, including Miles Davis, John Coltrane, Thelonious Monk, Stan Getz, and Sonny Rollins. To honor the history of this pioneering label and its exceptional output, Craft Recordings releases a variety of content throughout the year. & lt;br & gt; & lt;br & gt; Kicking off the campaign is this box set on 180g vinyl 8LP set which chronicles the saxophonist’s breakout year. & lt;br & gt; & lt;br & gt; Coltrane’s breakout year, when his mature sound first grabbed ears and his own recordings began to sell consistently, was 1958. This release chronicles the exciting story session by session, featuring all 37 tracks Coltrane recorded as a leader or co-leader for the independent Prestige Records label in those twelve months. This collection captures him in creative high gear—developing the signature improvisational style that journalist Ira Gitler famously dubbed & quot;sheets of sound. & quot; & lt;br & gt; & lt;br & gt; The timely release marks the 70th year since the founding of Prestige and comes just after the 60th anniversary of these recordings. & lt;br & gt; & lt;br & gt; Includes eight 180-gram LPs, remastered from the original analog tapes by Paul Blakemore (all of which were recorded by renowned engineer Rudy Van Gelder) and cut by Clint Holley from 24-bit/192kHz transfers. The lavish, linen-wrapped, portfolio-style book features an eye-catching design and 40 pages containing extensive liner notes by Grammy-winning American music historian Ashley Kahn, rare ephemera and historical photographs of the saxophonist and his collaborators, including several taken by renowned jazz photographers Francis Wolff and Esmond Edwards. & lt;br & gt; & lt;br & gt; Featuring Red Garland, Kenny Burrell, Donald Byrd, Paul Chambers, Freddie Hubbard, Art Taylor, Jimmy Cobb and more. & lt;br & gt; & lt;br & gt; & lt;b & gt; & quot;Arranged in chronological order according to the session dates, this massive and handsomely appointed set is a wonderful deep dive in this early part of Coltrane's career as a bandleader and sideman, even if he doesn't reach the dizzying heights that he reached a year earlier with Blue Train and two years later with Giant Steps. The bulk of these recordings feel simply like he is in practice mode, trying out various combinations and styles to see if they fit. That resulted in pleasant tunes like the 18 minute 'Sweet Sapphire Blues,' which is dominated by [Donald] Byrd and pianist Red Garland, and conflagrations like 'Goldsboro Express,' a Coltrane hard bop original where he's backed up only by bassist Paul Chambers and drummer Art Taylor, which gives him plenty of room to vamp and swing. The joy of a set like this is being able to track Coltrane's artistic progression from the start of one year to its close. In fact, these eight discs work like bookends as the first was taken from a session in January of '58 and the last comes from December. The differences over a 12 month period are subtle but a close listen reveals some extra muscle strength driving the session and improvisation at the end of '58, as well as some melodic decisions that presage his modal period. Combined with the illuminating liner notes from Coltrane biographer Ashley Khan, the music in this set is a treasure. & quot; & lt;/b & gt; - Robert Ham, Paste Magazine & lt;br & gt; & lt;br & gt; & lt;a name= & quot;SS & quot; & gt; & lt;/a & gt; & lt;iframe width= & quot;560 & quot; height= & quot;315 & quot; src= & quot;https://www.youtube.com/embed/cxWOhUHqmJ0 & quot; frameborder= & quot;0 & quot; allow= & quot;accelerometer; autoplay; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture & quot; allowfullscreen & gt; & lt;/iframe & gt; & lt;br & gt; & lt;br & gt; & lt;b & gt;Features: & lt;/b & gt; & lt;br & gt; & amp;bull; 60th Anniversary John Coltrane Chronology & lt;br & gt; & amp;bull; 180g Vinyl 8LP Set & lt;br & gt; & amp;bull; Remastered From Original Analog Tapes by Paul Blakemore & lt;br & gt; & amp;bull; Cut from 192K digital transfers & lt;br & gt; & amp;bull; Pressed at RTI & lt;br & gt; & amp;bull; Housed in lavish, linen-wrapped, portfolio-style book featuring an eye-catching design and debossed lettering on cover and spine & lt;br & gt; & amp;bull; 40 page book contains rare ephemera and extensive liner notes by Grammy-winning American music historian Ashley Kahn & lt;br & gt; & amp;bull; Historical musician photos by renowned jazz photographers Francis Wolff and Esmond Edwards & lt;br & gt; & lt;br & gt; & lt;b & gt;Musicians: & lt;/b & gt; & lt;br & gt; John Coltrane, tenor saxophone & lt;br & gt; Kenny Burrell, guitar & lt;br & gt; Donald Byrd, trumpet & lt;br & gt; Paul Chambers, bass & lt;br & gt; Jimmy Cobb, drums & lt;br & gt; Tommy Flanagan, piano & lt;br & gt; Red Garland, piano & lt;br & gt; Louis Hayes, drums & lt;br & gt; Wilbur Harden, trumpet, flugelhorn & lt;br & gt; Freddie Hubbard, trumpet & lt;br & gt; Art Taylor, drums & lt;br & gt; & lt;br & gt; & lt;b & gt;Selections: & lt;br & gt; LP 1: & lt;br & gt; Side A: & lt;/b & gt; & lt;br & gt; 1. R.E.M. Monster 180g 2LP (Vinyl)
& lt;header & gt; & lt;p & gt; & lt;strong & gt;25th Anniversary Reissue Of Acclaimed Album On 180g Double LP! & lt;br & gt; Expanded Edition Includes Original LP + 2019 Remixed Version! & lt;/strong & gt; & lt;/p & gt; & lt;/header & gt; & lt;p & gt;This expanded anniversary edition of Monster, offering the original album and the 2019 remixed version, is available on two 180-gram vinyl LPs featuring reimagined cover art by longtime R.E.M. designer Chris Bilheimer. & lt;/p & gt; & lt;p & gt;When Monster was released in September 1994, the members of R.E.M. were at a crossroads in their career. Singer Michael Stipe, guitarist Peter Buck, bassist Mike Mills and drummer Bill Berry were decompressing from the massive commercial and critical success of 1991's Out Of Time and 1992's Automatic For The People. In just a few years, the Athens, GA, four-piece had become one of the biggest, most recognizable bands in the world, thanks to hits like & quot;Losing My Religion & quot;, & quot;Man On The Moon & quot; and & quot;Everybody Hurts & quot;. It had also been six years since the group had toured. & lt;/p & gt; & lt;p & gt;By the time that work began on Monster, they were itching to end their self-imposed hiatus and get back on the road. The band was also looking for a sonic shake-up. While R.E.M.'s last two albums were full of ballads, acoustic rock songs and intricate arrangements, the group was ready to record something grittier, brasher and highly playable on stage. In his liner notes, journalist Matthew Perpetua writes that Monster & quot;had no precedent in the band's catalogue, & quot; adding that R.E.M had & quot;never been this distorted and dirty, or this glam or this flirty. & quot; Buck recalls, & quot;We were trying to feel like a different band ... We wanted to get away from who we were. & quot; The group was also reeling from the strange nature of celebrity and identity, and many of the songs in this album reflect that. Perpetua notes, & quot;There's no question that the characters on Monster are all dealing with obsession in some form or another, whether it's the infatuated narrator of 'Crush With Eyeliner,' the lovelorn protagonist of 'Strange Currencies,' or the cackling supervillain in 'I Took Your Name.' & quot; As dark as some of the subject matter is, though, R.E.M. still infuses the songs with a dash of absurdity, irony and a humorous wink. & lt;/p & gt; & lt;p & gt;Highlights off the album include the distortion-soaked first single, & quot;What's The Frequency, Kenneth? & quot; which plays off the farce of media and marketing that pervaded Gen X pop-culture, while the catchy & quot;Star 69 & quot; is a detective story, based on the '90s phone service of the same name (a precursor to caller ID). The second single, & quot;Bang and Blame & quot; features Sonic Youth's Thurston Moore, as well as actress Rain Phoenix--whose brother, River, had recently passed away and was Monster's dedicatee. & quot;Let Me In & quot; is an ode to Nirvana frontman Kurt Cobain, who had died by suicide just months before. Mills, who swapped his bass for Cobain's guitar on the track, shares, & quot;It's Michael's cathartic release in response to the loss of a good friend and someone we all felt creatively aligned with. & quot; & lt;/p & gt; & lt;p & gt;The band's new artistic direction proved to be a hit. Monster debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard 200 and would be certified four-times Platinum in the U.S. Rolling Stone offered this praise: & lt;strong & gt; & quot;R.E.M.'s exceptional pop craftsmanship, their luminous melodic inventions, their sense of mission--in short, everything fundamental--are still there and shining more brightly than ever ... Monster is one urgent-sounding album, and that's as it should be. & quot; & lt;/strong & gt; & lt;/p & gt; & lt;p & gt;In addition to having the chance to reflect on Monster, R.E.M. also had the opportunity to revisit the album creatively with their longtime producer, Scott Litt. Litt, who struggled with the original mix, recalls, & lt;strong & gt; & quot;I had told the band through the years that if there was ever a chance to take another shot at mixing the album, I wanted to do it. & quot; & lt;/strong & gt; Now, 25 years later, he's had the chance, and the results are striking. On some songs, according to Perpetua, Litt's work features & lt;strong & gt; & quot;Entirely different vocal takes and instrumental parts that were either buried or excised from the original album mix. & quot; & lt;/strong & gt; Mills adds, & lt;strong & gt; & quot;I think as he listened to it over the years, he began to hear a different way to realize those songs. & quot; & lt;/strong & gt; Ultimately, with this reissue, fans will not only have the opportunity to re-discover Monster but also, perhaps, see the album in a completely new light. & lt;/p & gt; & lt;section id= & quot;features & quot; & gt; & lt;h3 & gt;Features & lt;/h3 & gt; & lt;ul & gt; & lt;li & gt;25th Anniversary Expanded Edition & lt;/li & gt; & lt;li & gt;180g Vinyl & lt;/li & gt; & lt;li & gt;Double LP & lt;/li & gt; & lt;li & gt;Original LP remastered by Greg Calibi at Sterling Sound from the original analog master & lt;/li & gt; & lt;li & gt;Special 2019 remix LP from original producer Scott Litt & lt;/li & gt; & lt;li & gt;Reimagined cover art by longtime R.E.M. designer Chris Bilheimer & lt;/li & gt; & lt;li & gt;Gatefold jacket & lt;/li & gt; & lt;li & gt;New liner notes featuring interviews from members of the band & lt;/li & gt; & lt;li & gt;Made in the USA & lt;/li & gt; & lt;/ul & gt; & lt;/section & gt; & lt;section id= & quot;selections & quot; & gt; & lt;h3 & gt;Selections & lt;/h3 & gt; & lt;h4 & gt;Side A: & lt;/h4 & gt; & lt;ol & gt; & lt;li & gt;What's The Frequency, Kenneth? & lt;/li & gt; & lt;li & gt;Crush With Eyeliner & lt;/li & gt; & lt;li & gt;King Of Comedy & lt;/li & gt; & lt;li & gt;I Don't Sleep, I Dream & lt;/li & gt; & lt;li & gt;Star 69 & lt;/li & gt; & lt;li & gt;Strange Currencies & lt;/li & gt; & lt;/ol & gt; & lt;h4 & gt;Side B: & lt;/h4 & gt; & lt;ol start = & quot;7 & quot; & gt; & lt;li & gt;Tongue & lt;/li & gt; & lt;li & gt;Bang And Blame & lt;/li & gt; & lt;li & gt;I Took Your Name & lt;/li & gt; & lt;li & gt;Let Me In & lt;/li & gt; & lt;li & gt;Circus Envy & lt;/li & gt; & lt;li & gt;You & lt;/li & gt; & lt;/ol & gt; & lt;h4 & gt;Side C: & lt;/h4 & gt; & lt;ol & gt; & lt;li & gt;What's The Frequency, Kenneth? Terry Callier The New Folk Sound of Terry Callier 180g 2LP (Vinyl)
& lt;font color= & quot;#FF0000 & quot; & gt; & lt;b & gt;Expanded 2LP Edition Of Timeless Soul, Jazz & amp; Folk-Infused Debut On 180g Vinyl! & lt;br & gt; The First Official Vinyl Reissue! & lt;br & gt; Cut by Kevin Gray at Cohearent Audio! Pressed at RTI! & lt;/b & gt; & lt;/font & gt; & lt;br & gt; & lt;br & gt; Terry Callier’s The New Folk Sound of Terry Callier is available as a official vinyl reissue cut from the original analog master tapes. This deluxe reissue features unreleased tracks, new liner notes, and bonus tracks. Almost a lost album, The New Folk Sound of Terry Callier encompasses Terry's blues voice and jazz, soul, gospel music fusion. The New Folk Sound of Terry Callier conveys the promise and power of Callier in his earliest days. Two 180g black vinyl LPs in 2 pocket gatefold tip-on. & lt;br & gt; & lt;br & gt; & lt;b & gt; & quot;The career of Terry Callier was a long-simmering affair that took the better part of three decades to finally boil over into some kind of solid success. His first album, reissued this month by Craft Recordings, was recorded for Prestige Records in 1964, but didn't come out until four years later after the producer absconded with the tapes. By the time it was finally released, as writer Jason P. Woodbury says in his liner notes, 'the quiet, moody folk of the LP was out of step with the heady times…and it failed to register a commercial impact.' A few years later, Callier had left his acoustic roots behind for soul-jazz, issuing a trio of records in the early '70s, including the masterpiece What Color Is Love, which is being brought back into circulation thanks to Geffen. His steady, vibrato-laden voice didn't change from one record to the other, only his decision to move from spiritually-minded concerns to those of the body. Callier was brought from the brink of obscurity thanks to record collectors and artists like Beth Orton and Massive Attack who cited him as an inspiration and helped him find a modern audience. And they have helped keep his older material in the minds of music obsessives, playing no small part in the reissues of these two albums. You really can't go wrong with either one. Keep both in circulation on a lazy Sunday and they'll each set the mood: New Folk Sound for the morning and twilight hours, Love giving the afternoon and early evening a nice sense of purpose and groove. & quot; & lt;/b & gt; - Paste Magazine & lt;br & gt; & lt;br & gt; & lt;b & gt;Features: & lt;/b & gt; & lt;br & gt; & amp;bull; Expanded Deluxe Edition & lt;br & gt; & amp;bull; 180g Vinyl & lt;br & gt; & amp;bull; Double LP & lt;br & gt; & amp;bull; First official vinyl reissue & lt;br & gt; & amp;bull; Lacquers cut by Kevin Gray at Cohearent Audio & lt;br & gt; & amp;bull; Pressed at RTI & lt;br & gt; & amp;bull; 2-pocket gatefold tip-on jacket & lt;br & gt; & amp;bull; New liner notes & lt;br & gt; & amp;bull; Previously unreleased alternate versions & lt;br & gt; & lt;br & gt; & lt;b & gt;Musicians: & lt;/b & gt; & lt;br & gt; Terry Callier, guitar, vocals & lt;br & gt; Terbour Attenborough, bass & lt;br & gt; John Tweedle, bass & lt;br & gt; & lt;br & gt; & lt;b & gt;Selections: & lt;br & gt; Side 1: & lt;/b & gt; & lt;br & gt; 1. 900 Miles & lt;br & gt; 2. James Booker Classified LP (Vinyl)
& lt;header & gt; & lt;p & gt; & lt;strong & gt;Definitive Studio Album by The Piano Genius Of New Orleans On Vinyl LP! & lt;/strong & gt; & lt;/p & gt; & lt;/header & gt; & lt;p & gt; & lt;strong & gt;TAS Rated 4/5 Music, 3.5/5 Sonics in the January 2021 Issue of The Absolute Sound! & lt;/strong & gt; & lt;/p & gt; & lt;p & gt;A deeply complex character, Booker only released two studio albums in his lifetime. However, Classified - his unintended swan song - offers one of his greatest commercially-released performances. Recorded in 1982, it is primarily the result of a whirlwind, four-hour session. In addition to several originals, the album includes a jaunty repertoire of mainly local fare, including Fats Domino's & quot;One for the Highway & quot; and Lloyd Price's & quot;Lawdy Miss Clawdy & quot;. & lt;/p & gt; & lt;blockquote cite= & quot;www.theabsolutesound.com & quot; & gt; Some of the performances are rough, but all ooze authenticity. Booker performs solo piano and vocals on all but five tracks, which feature a rhythm section. The raucous arrangement of 'Baby Face' captures Booker's flamboyant performance style and could easily have been recorded at Tipitina's on a Saturday night. But Booker's genius for blending jazz, R & amp;B, and classical forms is most evident on the solo piano cover of 'Madame X' and his elegant rendering of the standard 'Angel Eyes.' Craft has done an admirable job remixing and remastering this LP. Meanwhile, the label is sitting on a treasure trove of live Booker sessions (last reissued in 1993 by Rounder, now owned by Craft's parent company, the Concord Music Group). Let's hope Classified portends more quality Booker reissues. & lt;footer & gt; -Greg Cahill, The Absolute Sound, January 2021, Music 4/5, Sonics 3.5/5 & lt;/footer & gt; & lt;/blockquote & gt; & lt;section id= & quot;features & quot; & gt; & lt;h3 & gt;Features & lt;/h3 & gt; & lt;ul & gt; & lt;li & gt; Vinyl LP & lt;/li & gt; & lt;li & gt; Remixed & amp; remastered audio & lt;/li & gt; & lt;li & gt;Lacquer cut by Jeff Powell at Take Out Vinyl & lt;/li & gt; & lt;li & gt;Pressed at Memphis Record Pressing & lt;/li & gt; & lt;li & gt; Single pocket jacket & lt;/li & gt; & lt;li & gt;Made in USA & lt;/li & gt; & lt;/ul & gt; & lt;/section & gt; & lt;section id= & quot;musicians & quot; & gt; & lt;h3 & gt;Musicians & lt;/h3 & gt; & lt;table & gt; & lt;tr & gt; & lt;th & gt;James Booker & lt;/th & gt; & lt;td & gt;piano, vocals & lt;/td & gt; & lt;/tr & gt; & lt;tr & gt; & lt;th & gt;Alvin & quot;Red & quot; Tyler & lt;/th & gt; & lt;td & gt;tenor saxophone & lt;/td & gt; & lt;/tr & gt; & lt;tr & gt; & lt;th & gt;James Singleton & lt;/th & gt; & lt;td & gt;bass & lt;/td & gt; & lt;/tr & gt; & lt;tr & gt; & lt;th & gt;John Vidacovich & lt;/th & gt; & lt;td & gt;drums & lt;/td & gt; & lt;/tr & gt; & lt;/table & gt; & lt;/section & gt; & lt;section id= & quot;selections & quot; & gt; & lt;h3 & gt;Selections & lt;/h3 & gt; & lt;h4 & gt;Side A: & lt;/h4 & gt; & lt;ol & gt; & lt;li & gt;All Around The World & lt;/li & gt; & lt;li & gt;One For The Highway & lt;/li & gt; & lt;li & gt;King Of The Road & lt;/li & gt; & lt;li & gt;Professor Longhair Medley: Bald Head/Tipitina & lt;/li & gt; & lt;li & gt;Baby Face & lt;/li & gt; & lt;li & gt;Madame X & lt;/li & gt; & lt;/ol & gt; & lt;h4 & gt;Side B: & lt;/h4 & gt; & lt;ol & gt; & lt;li & gt;Classified & lt;/li & gt; & lt;li & gt; Lawdy Miss Clawdy & lt;/li & gt; & lt;li & gt; Angel Eyes & lt;/li & gt; & lt;li & gt; Hound Dog & lt;/li & gt; & lt;li & gt; If You're Lonely & lt;/li & gt; & lt;li & gt; Three Keys & lt;/li & gt; & lt;/ol & gt; & lt;/section & gt;

Ray Charles Modern Sounds in Country & Western Music LP (Vinyl)
& lt;font color= & quot;#FF0000 & quot; & gt; & lt;b & gt;Integration of Soul & amp; Country Music On Vinyl LP! & lt;/b & gt; & lt;/font & gt; & lt;br & gt; & lt;br & gt; Regarded by many critics as Ray Charles's best studio album, Modern Sounds in Country and Western Music is a landmark album in American music. The album's integration of soul and country music bent racial barriers in popular music, amid the height of the Civil Rights Movement. In the process of recording the album, Charles became one of the first African-American musicians to exercise complete artistic control over his own recording career. & lt;br & gt; & lt;br & gt; & lt;b & gt; & quot;Ray Charles was an avowed fan of country music and felt he could add something to the rootsy sound that he grew up with. So as his success was heading towards its peak and his power in the industry grew, he took the daring move to record 12 of his favorite country tunes, infusing them with the blues and jazz swing he was already known for and exposing how all these genres were influencing one another through the first half of the 20th century. The hit album and its sequel have been in and out of print since their initial release in 1962, with the most recent pressings arriving last month. And the first volume (the only one we were sent to review) has a nice sheen to it. Bob Fisher's remastering work is subtle, gently turning up the lights on Charles's inimitable vocals and bringing the rhythm section further out of the shadows. The ache of ballads like 'Born To Lose' and 'I Can't Stop Loving You' and the winking joy of 'Bye Bye Love' are still present, protected behind glass. Fisher just gives it once over with a fine chamois. & quot; & lt;/b & gt; - Paste Magazine & lt;br & gt; & lt;br & gt; & lt;b & gt;Features: & lt;/b & gt; & lt;br & gt; & amp;bull; Vinyl LP & lt;br & gt; & lt;br & gt; & lt;b & gt;Selections: & lt;br & gt; Side 1: & lt;/b & gt; & lt;br & gt; 1. R.E.M. In Time: The Best Of R.E.M. 1988-2003 180g 2LP (Vinyl)
& lt;font color= & quot;#FF0000 & quot; & gt; & lt;b & gt;Best of Collection On 180g Vinyl Double LP! & lt;br & gt; Includes 2 Previously Unreleased Tracks! & lt;/b & gt; & lt;/font & gt; & lt;br & gt; & lt;br & gt; In Time: The Best Of R.E.M. 1988-2003 is more than a greatest hits collection, it's an opportunity to reflect on the astonishing creative and cultural influence of one of the most innovative and enduring bands of modern rock history. Originally released in late 2003, the double-LP set makes its debut on audiophile-quality, 180g vinyl and is housed in a deluxe gatefold jacket. & lt;br & gt; & lt;br & gt; One of the most revered groups to emerge from the American underground, singer Michael Stipe, guitarist Peter Buck, bassist Mike Mills and drummer Bill Berry—who amicably retired from the band in 1997—helped originate college rock during the post-punk scene of the '80s, and went on to become one of most popular and critically acclaimed bands in the world; their idiosyncratic blend of brash tunefulness, poetic lyrics, chiming guitars and evocative vocals served as a soundtrack to the cultural tide of the late '80s and '90s. & lt;br & gt; & lt;br & gt; The songs included on In Time offer more than just a collection of charting hits. Rather, listeners will hear the evolution of a band on the rise, reaching and surfing the peak of its fame. In his original song-by-song liner notes, Peter Buck writes: & lt;b & gt; & quot;If you think about it, our career can be divided into…two parts: pre-'Losing My Religion' and post-'Losing My Religion.' & quot; & lt;/b & gt; Buck explains that before the band's breakthrough, chart-topping 1991 hit, & lt;b & gt; & quot;R.E.M. was a large cult band touring ten months a year. Respected and successful, we were still considered kind of minor league. Afterward, we had hit singles, platinum albums, we were on the covers of all kinds of unlikely magazines, and, at least for a couple of years, were one of the biggest bands in the world. All of which is irrelevant. & quot; & lt;/b & gt; & lt;br & gt; & lt;br & gt; Highlights from In Time include fan favorites like & quot;What's the Frequency, Kenneth? & quot; (off 1994's Monster), & quot;Orange Crush & quot; from Green (1988), and & quot;Daysleeper & quot;, from 1998's Up. Listeners can also expect R.E.M.'s most iconic hits, like Automatic for the People's soulful hit single & lt;b & gt; & quot;Everybody Hurts & quot; & lt;/b & gt;, a song which, Buck recounts, & lt;b & gt; & quot;doesn't really belong to [the band] anymore; it belongs to everybody who has ever gotten any solace from it. & quot; & lt;/b & gt; & lt;br & gt; & lt;br & gt; Among the 18 tracks on the compilation are two songs which had previously been exclusive to soundtracks: & quot;All The Right Friends & quot; from 2001's Vanilla Sky, and & quot;The Great Beyond & quot;, written for the 1999 Andy Kaufman biopic, Man on the Moon; a film which borrowed its title from R.E.M.'s 1992 single about the late comedian. Also on the album are two previously unreleased tracks, 2003's & quot;Animal & quot; and & quot;Bad Day & quot;, a song which was conceived of in the mid-'80s, but remained unfinished until 2003. & lt;br & gt; & lt;br & gt; Having established a powerful legacy as one of the most enduring and essential rock bands in popular music history, R.E.M. pioneered the alt-rock movement of the '90s, influencing the likes of Nirvana, Pavement and Pearl Jam. Formed in 1980, the group enjoyed an extraordinary three-decade-long run of creative vitality and multi-platinum sales before amiably disbanding in 2011. Despite great success, the band members never lost track of their core values—remaining outspoken in their views about political, social and environmental issues, and never wavering when it came to artistic integrity. Throughout the course of their career together, R.E.M. released a total of 15 studio albums, won three Grammy Awards and were inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2006. & lt;br & gt; & lt;br & gt; & lt;b & gt;Features: & lt;/b & gt; & lt;br & gt; & amp;bull; 180g Vinyl & lt;br & gt; & amp;bull; Double LP & lt;br & gt; & amp;bull; 2 previously unreleased tracks & lt;br & gt; & amp;bull; 2 tracks previously exclusive to soundtracks & lt;br & gt; & amp;bull; Gatefold jacket & lt;br & gt; & amp;bull; Made in U.S.A. & lt;br & gt; & lt;br & gt; & lt;b & gt;Selections: & lt;br & gt; Side One: & lt;/b & gt; & lt;br & gt; 1. & lt;font color= & quot;#FF0000 & quot; & gt; & lt;b & gt;50th Anniversary Reissue On Double LP! & lt;br & gt; Stax Records' Defining Hits Collection! First-Ever Vinyl Reissue! & lt;/b & gt; & lt;/font & gt; & lt;br & gt; & lt;br & gt; Soul Explosion is a double LP, first-time vinyl reissue celebrating the 50th anniversary of Stax Record’s defining hits collection, featuring 28 tracks including chart-toppers and deeper cuts. & lt;br & gt; & lt;br & gt; The Stax Soul Explosion 2-LP reissue celebrates the 50th anniversary of the Memphis label’s defining hits collection. Features powerful soul tracks like “Private Number” by Judy Clay & amp; William Bell, “Who’s Making Love” by Johnnie Taylor and “I’ve Never Found A Girl (To Love Me Like You Do)” by Eddie Floyd. The set features 28 tracks, including chart-toppers and deeper cuts. & lt;br & gt; & lt;br & gt; In 1968 Stax was working overtime to reinvent itself in the wake of Otis Redding's untimely December '67 passing and the dissolution of a deal with Atlantic Records that gave the label perpetual rights to Stax's back catalog. When the deal ended, Stax also lost one of their leading artists, Sam & amp; Dave, who were signed to Atlantic, but released their music on Stax. Though Stax lost nearly all of the songs they had recorded from 1957 through 1968, they still had the talented musicians, songwriters and producers who had made them. Al Bell, who had just been promoted to Vice President of the label, quickly realized that Stax needed more than hits if they were going to survive. They needed to rebuild their back catalog. In 1969, Bell steered Stax into a prolific period of recording that united Stax's creative forces in the common goal of getting the label back on its feet. This rebuilding phase was labeled the Soul Explosion. During this remarkable rebuilding phase, 30 singles and 27 albums were recorded in eight months. & lt;br & gt; & lt;br & gt; & lt;b & gt;Features: & lt;/b & gt; & lt;br & gt; & amp;bull; 50th Anniversary of original Soul Explosion LP release & lt;br & gt; & amp;bull; Double LP & lt;br & gt; & amp;bull; Gatefold jacket & lt;br & gt; & amp;bull; First-ever vinyl reissue & lt;br & gt; & amp;bull; Made in Memphis! & lt;br & gt; & amp;bull; Lacquers cut by Jeff Powell at Take Out Vinyl & lt;br & gt; & amp;bull; Pressed at Memphis Record Pressing & lt;br & gt; & lt;br & gt; & lt;b & gt;Selections: & lt;br & gt; Side A: & lt;/b & gt; & lt;br & gt; 1. John Lee Hooker Country Blues Of John Lee Hooker 180g LP (Vinyl)
& lt;font color= & quot;#FF0000 & quot; & gt; & lt;b & gt;60th Anniversary Reissue On 180g Vinyl LP! & lt;br & gt; All-Analog Mastering From the Original Stereo Tapes by Kevin Gray at Cohearent Audio! & lt;br & gt; Pressed at Memphis Record Pressing! & lt;/b & gt; & lt;/font & gt; & lt;br & gt; & lt;br & gt; John Lee Hooker's 1959 debut on Riverside Records is perhaps the truest to his Mississippi roots. Unaccompanied and playing acoustically instead of his usual amplified guitar, he turned in a wonderfully varied set of deep Delta blues, moans, boogies, one field holler, and even a bit of hokum. Some songs are autobiographical, others reworkings of blues standards–all stamped with the hauntingly personal Hooker touch. The audio for this 60th anniversary release is sourced from the original stereo tapes that were mastered on all analog by Kevin Gray at Cohearent Audio. It's pressed on 180-gram vinyl at Memphis Record Pressing. & lt;br & gt; & lt;br & gt; & lt;b & gt; & quot;the music on it is as pungent and dusty and stinging as it was when it was first released 60 years ago and sounds present and clear thanks to the steady mastering work of Kevin Gray. Hooker was already a vital presence in the blues scene with electric singles like 'Boogie Chillen' and 'Crawlin' King Snake' already under his belt. This session, recorded in Detroit in early 1959, was proof that he had just as much bite and grit when using an acoustic guitar. The wail and moan of the blues idiom was ever-present, but swimming alongside it is a musing quality that turns 'Behind The Plow' and 'Church Bell Tone' into haunting expressions of Hooker's past as the son of a sharecropper and preacher. A vital document for anyone with an interest in the history of Delta blues and this once-in-a-generation talent. & quot; & lt;/b & gt; - Paste Magazine & lt;br & gt; & lt;br & gt; & lt;b & gt;Features: & lt;/b & gt; & lt;br & gt; & amp;bull; 60th Anniversary Reissue & lt;br & gt; & amp;bull; 180g Vinyl & lt;br & gt; & amp;bull; All-analog mastering from the original stereo tapes by Kevin Gray at Cohearent Audio & lt;br & gt; & amp;bull; Pressed at Memphis Record Pressing & lt;br & gt; & lt;br & gt; & lt;b & gt;Selections: & lt;br & gt; Side 1: & lt;/b & gt; & lt;br & gt; 1. Released on Sugar Hill Records and produced by Alison Krauss, the album incorporates elements of rock, alternative, jazz and even classical. Featuring both traditional & amp; original material, Nickel Creek showcases the band's unique style as well as their deft songwriting skills; highlights include & quot;The Lighthouse's Tale & quot; and & quot;When You Come Back Down & quot;. & lt;/p & gt; & lt;blockquote cite= & quot;quote source & quot; & gt; an album... unafraid to push the boundaries of its primary genre, and packing the musical chops to bring such an eclectic vision to life. & lt;footer & gt; -NPR Music & lt;/footer & gt; & lt;/blockquote & gt; & lt;blockquote cite= & quot;www.pastemagazine.com & quot; & gt; Modern bluegrass ensemble Nickel Creek had been a going concern for the better part of a decade when they recorded their 2000 self-titled album with the godmother of Americana Alison Krauss. And this young, hungry trio - Chris Thile, Sarah Watkins and her brother Sean - rose to the occasion with a hearty collection of songs that left ample room to show off their instrumental prowess and well-honed musical and vocal harmony. To honor the 20th anniversary of that release, the band has re-released it, along with the two follow-up albums that helped reach the Billboard Top 20 and netted them Grammy Awards, on vinyl. To sweeten the deal, each one was cut at 45 RPM to help amplify the music - a fair tradeoff for having to return to the turntable frequently to flip the record or swap out one record for another. The albums themselves are as great as ever, full of heart and the obvious love that these three have for one another, and chock-a-block with great songs - a balance of lovely originals with adaptations of material by Dylan, Pavement and Carrie Newcomer. & lt;footer & gt; -Robert Ham, Paste Magazine & lt;/footer & gt; & lt;/blockquote & gt; & lt;section id= & quot;features & quot; & gt; & lt;h3 & gt;Features & lt;/h3 & gt; & lt;ul & gt; & lt;li & gt;180g Vinyl & lt;/li & gt; & lt;li & gt;45rpm & lt;/li & gt; & lt;li & gt;Double LP & lt;/li & gt; & lt;li & gt;Produced by Alison Krauss & lt;/li & gt; & lt;li & gt;Mastered from the original high-resolution sources by Chris Bellman at Bernie Grundman Mastering & lt;/li & gt; & lt;li & gt;Gatefold jacket & lt;/li & gt; & lt;li & gt;Made in the EU & lt;/li & gt; & lt;/ul & gt; & lt;/section & gt; & lt;section id= & quot;selections & quot; & gt; & lt;h3 & gt;Selections & lt;/h3 & gt; & lt;h4 & gt;Side One: & lt;/h4 & gt; & lt;ol & gt; & lt;li & gt;Ode To A Butterfly & lt;/li & gt; & lt;li & gt;The Lighthouse's Tale & lt;/li & gt; & lt;li & gt;Out Of The Woods & lt;/li & gt; & lt;/ol & gt; & lt;h4 & gt;Side Two: & lt;/h4 & gt; & lt;ol & gt; & lt;li & gt;In The House Of Tom Bombadil & lt;/li & gt; & lt;li & gt;Reasons Why & lt;/li & gt; & lt;li & gt;When You Come Back Down & lt;/li & gt; & lt;/ol & gt; & lt;h4 & gt;Side Three: & lt;/h4 & gt; & lt;ol & gt; & lt;li & gt;Sweet Afton & lt;/li & gt; & lt;li & gt;Cuckoo's Nest & lt;/li & gt; & lt;li & gt;The Hand Song & lt;/li & gt; & lt;/ol & gt; & lt;h4 & gt;Side Four: & lt;/h4 & gt; & lt;ol & gt; & lt;li & gt;Robin And Marian & lt;/li & gt; & lt;li & gt;The Fox & lt;/li & gt; & lt;li & gt;Pastures New & lt;/li & gt; & lt;/ol & gt; & lt;/section & gt;

Dave Alvin King of California 2LP (Vinyl)

Available for the first time on vinyl, the album was originally released in 1994, to critical acclaim on Hightone Records. Available for the first time on vinyl, the album was originally released in 1994, to critical acclaim on Hightone Records. The remastered, expanded edition includes a previously unreleased instrumental studio track, & quot;Riverbed Rag, & quot; along with bonus material. & lt;br & gt; & lt;br & gt; Recorded in Los Angeles the day after the historic 1994 Northridge earthquake and produced by Greg Leisz, King of California had its genesis in the album’s title track, a readymade folk ballad, written for his mother, in which an aspiring suitor heads west to make his fortune in the wild, still-young Golden State. & lt;b & gt; & quot;King of California is when I decided 'this is when I let the song tell me what it sounds like,' & quot; & lt;/b & gt; says Alvin. & lt;b & gt; & quot;Ever since then, that’s been my rule. It sounds ridiculous, but it was something I had to learn. & quot; & lt;/b & gt; & lt;br & gt; & lt;br & gt; Featuring acoustic interpretations of some of the finest songs in his catalog, along with new, folk-inflected compositions, and notable covers, Dave Alvin found the true measure of his own voice with King of California. & lt;b & gt; & quot;It was ironic that for a guy who was known as a loud guitar player and questionable singer, his best seller was an acoustic album, & quot; & lt;/b & gt;says Alvin. & lt;br & gt; & lt;br & gt; Included are songs written and originally recorded during the '80s: & quot;Barn Burning & quot; from American Music(1980) the debut album from The Blasters, & quot;Bus Station & quot; and & quot;Leaving & quot; from the Blasters’ Non Fiction(1983), & quot;Little Honey, & quot; written with X’s John Doe and featured on the Blasters’ Hard Line(1985), and & quot;Fourth of July, & quot; which appeared on both X’s See How We Are(1997) and on Alvin’s solo album Romeo’s Escape(1987). & quot;Every Night About This Time & quot; also appeared on the latter album. & lt;br & gt; & lt;br & gt; Like the records Alvin made as a member of the Blasters, King of California features a variety of covers, including Tom Russell’s’ & quot;Blue Wing, & quot; Dallas singer-pianist Whistlin’ Alex Moore’s & quot;West Texas Blues & quot; (retitled & quot;East Texas Blues & quot;), Memphis Slim’s classic & quot;Mother Earth, & quot; and & quot;What Am I Worth, & quot; a George Jones song, featured here as a duet with the incomparable Syd Straw. The album also includes co-writes with Rosie Flores ( & quot;Goodbye Again & quot;) & lt;br & gt; & lt;br & gt; The expanded edition includes a previously unreleased track from the recording sessions, & quot;Riverbed Rag, & quot; an instrumental designed for a guitar-dobro duel by Alvin and Leisz, and inspired by the usually dry San Gabriel River that both musicians grew up exploring. Two additional covers, Merle Haggard’s & quot;Kern River, & quot; originally recorded for the 1994 Haggard tribute album Tulare Dust (co-produced by Alvin and Tom Russell), and Katy Moffatt’s & quot;The Cuckoo, & quot; from her 1999 Alvin-produced album Loose Diamond, round out the bonus tracks. & lt;br & gt; & lt;br & gt; & lt;b & gt; & quot;I’m real proud of [King of California] twenty-five years later, & quot; & lt;/b & gt; Alvin says. & lt;b & gt; & quot;The whole process was a revelation, to record with everybody in the studio sitting roughly in a circle. Sitting there on the edge of my chair with an acoustic guitar knowing that if I blow this chord we have to start over. And I could use my voice; when I was recording electric my voice couldn’t lead the band. In this situation I could. That allowed a certain openness and freedom I hadn’t experienced before. And for Greg, this was his baby, his chance to produce me and get my voice right. His calmness in all of this led to the vibe of the record. & quot; & lt;/b & gt; & lt;br & gt; & lt;br & gt; & lt;b & gt;Features: & lt;/b & gt; & lt;br & gt; & amp;bull; 25th Anniversary Edition & lt;br & gt; & amp;bull; Double LP & lt;br & gt; & amp;bull; First time available on vinyl & lt;br & gt; & amp;bull; 3 bonus tracks including one previously unreleased & lt;br & gt; & amp;bull; Gatefold jacket & lt;br & gt; & amp;bull; New liner notes by Grammy-nominated writer and author Chris Morris & lt;br & gt; & amp;bull; Made in USA & lt;br & gt; & lt;br & gt; & lt;b & gt;Selections: & lt;br & gt; Side A: & lt;/b & gt; & lt;br & gt; 1. R.E.M. Monster 180g LP (Vinyl)
& lt;header & gt; & lt;p & gt; & lt;strong & gt;25th Anniversary Reissue Of Acclaimed Album On 180g Vinyl LP! & lt;br & gt;Remastered From The Original Analog Master! & lt;/strong & gt; & lt;/p & gt; & lt;/header & gt; & lt;p & gt;When Monster was released in September 1994, the members of R.E.M. were at a crossroads in their career. Singer Michael Stipe, guitarist Peter Buck, bassist Mike Mills and drummer Bill Berry were decompressing from the massive commercial and critical success of 1991's Out Of Time and 1992's Automatic For The People. In just a few years, the Athens, GA, four-piece had become one of the biggest, most recognizable bands in the world, thanks to hits like & quot;Losing My Religion & quot;, & quot;Man On The Moon & quot; and & quot;Everybody Hurts & quot;. It had also been six years since the group had toured. & lt;/p & gt; & lt;p & gt;By the time that work began on Monster, they were itching to end their self-imposed hiatus and get back on the road. The band was also looking for a sonic shake-up. While R.E.M.'s last two albums were full of ballads, acoustic rock songs and intricate arrangements, the group was ready to record something grittier, brasher and highly playable on stage. In his liner notes, journalist Matthew Perpetua writes that Monster & quot;had no precedent in the band's catalogue, & quot; adding that R.E.M had & quot;never been this distorted and dirty, or this glam or this flirty. & quot; Buck recalls, & quot;We were trying to feel like a different band ... We wanted to get away from who we were. & quot; The group was also reeling from the strange nature of celebrity and identity, and many of the songs in this album reflect that. Perpetua notes, & quot;There's no question that the characters on Monster are all dealing with obsession in some form or another, whether it's the infatuated narrator of 'Crush With Eyeliner,' the lovelorn protagonist of 'Strange Currencies,' or the cackling supervillain in 'I Took Your Name.' & quot; As dark as some of the subject matter is, though, R.E.M. still infuses the songs with a dash of absurdity, irony and a humorous wink. & lt;/p & gt; & lt;p & gt;Highlights off the album include the distortion-soaked first single, & quot;What's The Frequency, Kenneth? & quot; which plays off the farce of media and marketing that pervaded Gen X pop-culture, while the catchy & quot;Star 69 & quot; is a detective story, based on the '90s phone service of the same name (a precursor to caller ID). The second single, & quot;Bang and Blame & quot; features Sonic Youth's Thurston Moore, as well as actress Rain Phoenix--whose brother, River, had recently passed away and was Monster's dedicatee. & quot;Let Me In & quot; is an ode to Nirvana frontman Kurt Cobain, who had died by suicide just months before. Mills, who swapped his bass for Cobain's guitar on the track, shares, & quot;It's Michael's cathartic release in response to the loss of a good friend and someone we all felt creatively aligned with. & quot; & lt;/p & gt; & lt;p & gt;The band's new artistic direction proved to be a hit. Monster debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard 200 and would be certified four-times Platinum in the U.S. Rolling Stone offered this praise: & lt;strong & gt; & quot;R.E.M.'s exceptional pop craftsmanship, their luminous melodic inventions, their sense of mission--in short, everything fundamental--are still there and shining more brightly than ever ... Monster is one urgent-sounding album, and that's as it should be. & quot; & lt;/strong & gt; & lt;/p & gt; & lt;section id= & quot;features & quot; & gt; & lt;h3 & gt;Features & lt;/h3 & gt; & lt;ul & gt; & lt;li & gt;25th Anniversary Reissue & lt;/li & gt; & lt;li & gt;180g Vinyl & lt;/li & gt; & lt;li & gt;Remastered by Greg Calibi at Sterling Sound from the original analog master & lt;/li & gt; & lt;li & gt;Original cover art by Chris Bilheimer & lt;/li & gt; & lt;li & gt;Made in the USA & lt;/li & gt; & lt;/ul & gt; & lt;/section & gt; & lt;section id= & quot;selections & quot; & gt; & lt;h3 & gt;Selections & lt;/h3 & gt; & lt;h4 & gt;Side C: & lt;/h4 & gt; & lt;ol & gt; & lt;li & gt;What's The Frequency, Kenneth? & lt;/li & gt; & lt;li & gt;Crush With Eyeliner & lt;/li & gt; & lt;li & gt;King Of Comedy & lt;/li & gt; & lt;li & gt;I Don't Sleep, I Dream & lt;/li & gt; & lt;li & gt;Star 69 & lt;/li & gt; & lt;li & gt;Strange Currencies & lt;/li & gt; & lt;/ol & gt; & lt;h4 & gt;Side D: & lt;/h4 & gt; & lt;ol start = & quot;7 & quot; & gt; & lt;li & gt;Tongue & lt;/li & gt; & lt;li & gt;Bang And Blame & lt;/li & gt; & lt;li & gt;I Took Your Name & lt;/li & gt; & lt;li & gt;Let Me In & lt;/li & gt; & lt;li & gt;Circus Envy & lt;/li & gt; & lt;li & gt;You & lt;/li & gt; & lt;/ol & gt; & lt;p & gt;Note: This is a single LP with 2 sides of music. Cut At Abbey Road Studios! & lt;br & gt; Collection Of In-Studio Sessions, TV Performances & amp; Live Broadcasts From The BBC Archives! & lt;/b & gt; & lt;/font & gt; & lt;br & gt; & lt;br & gt; R.E.M. grew up with the BBC, and this historic relationship is lovingly celebrated across an incredible collection that beautifully illustrates the career trajectory of one of modern music's greatest bands. & lt;br & gt; & lt;br & gt; In the U.S., R.E.M. came to attention in the early '80s and developed a fanbase around the band's relentless touring schedule and college radio airplay – a uniquely American network of local radio stations playing & quot;alternative & quot; music. The band's emergence in Europe also stemmed around their live forays in England, France, the Netherlands and Germany starting in '83. From this time, the BBC embraced the band – not only with airplay, but also with interviews, TV appearances and in-studio sessions. This strong bond between R.E.M. and the BBC throughout the band's career is celebrated here with Best Of R.E.M. At The BBC 180 gram 2LP set. The audio is delineated first by in-session performances - from 1991's Into The Night, to John Peel Sessions and through to the Radio 1 Live Lounge in 2008. & lt;br & gt; & lt;br & gt; The live broadcasts begin with a rough and tumble show in 1984 at Nottingham's Rock City, the stunning 1995 return from a 6 year touring hiatus for the Monster Tour at The National Bowl at Milton Keynes, followed by a blistering headline performance at Glastonbury's Pyramid Stage in 1999 and rounded out with 2004's intimate performance for 200 BBC-invited guests at London's St. James' Church. & lt;br & gt; & lt;br & gt; The band's history with the BBC is documented with a newly written overview of the BBC/R.E.M. connection by rock journalist Tom Doyle. & lt;br & gt; & lt;br & gt; & lt;b & gt; & quot;The wax edition is packed with well-known and less-familiar singles and should satisfy those R.E.M. fans who don't require deep cuts or repeat performs of songs that continued to work their way into the set list. ANd the vinyl still presents a broad spectrum of music, with intimate un-plugged selections balancing electric material that ranges from highly melodic pop to raw and exhilarating rock and roll. Like a good concert, BBC saves some of the biggest hits (including & quot;Losing My Religion & quot; and & quot;Man On the Moon & quot;) for last. And the version of & quot;Everybody Hurts & quot; that launches Side D so clearly sends the audience into a swoon (the single was a Top Ten hit in the UK) that fans in the States may reconsider where to place that song in R.E.M.'s canon. & quot; & lt;/b & gt; - Jeff Wilson, & lt;i & gt;The Absolute Sound & lt;/i & gt;, February 2019 & lt;br & gt; & lt;br & gt; & lt;b & gt;Features: & lt;/b & gt; & lt;br & gt; & amp;bull; 180g Vinyl & lt;br & gt; & amp;bull; Double LP & lt;br & gt; & amp;bull; Cut at Abbey Road Studios & lt;br & gt; & amp;bull; Gatefold jacket & lt;br & gt; & lt;br & gt; & lt;b & gt;Selections: & lt;br & gt; LP 1 - Best Of BBC Sessions & lt;br & gt; Side A: & lt;br & gt; & lt;/b & gt;Recorded for Nicky Campbell Session Into The Night on BBC Radio 1, First broadcast on 13 March 1991: & lt;br & gt; 1. The release marks the first time the album has been available as a half-speed master individually; it was previously only part of CCR's 7LP Studio Album Collections box set. & lt;/p & gt; & lt;p & gt;Willy And The Poor Boys was released just three months after Green River, in November, to great critical and commercial approval. It featured the powerful anti-Vietnam message song & quot;Fortunate Son & quot; as well as familiar Creedence staples such as & quot;Down On The Corner & quot;, & quot;It Came Out Of The Sky & quot; and & quot;Midnight Special & quot;. The LP reached No. 3 on the Billboard album chart. & lt;/p & gt; & lt;p & gt;Mastered at half-speed at Abbey Road Studios, Willy And The Poor Boys benefits from an exacting process that allows for an exceptional level of sonic clarity and punch, bringing these classic recordings a new vibrancy. This 180-gram LP comes housed in a handsome tip-on jacket replicating the packaging of the original pressing. & lt;/p & gt; & lt;blockquote cite= & quot;www.pastemagazine.com & quot; & gt; Getting in under the gold anniversary wire, Craft Recordings has cut new vinyl editions of the final two CCR albums of '69, using hi-res transfers of the original analog tapes and mastered/cut at half-speed. The resulting LPs are loud and precise, with a lot of open space filled up comfortably with the liquid grooves of rhythm section of Doug Clifford and Stu Cook. These new versions are also a new chance for young listeners to fully appreciate how CCR slipped between stations, with elements of country, R & amp;B, pure blues and firebrand rock playing through each one. & lt;footer & gt; -Robert Ham, Paste Magazine & lt;/footer & gt; & lt;/blockquote & gt; & lt;section id= & quot;features & quot; & gt; & lt;h3 & gt;Features & lt;/h3 & gt; & lt;ul & gt; & lt;li & gt;50th Anniversary & lt;/li & gt; & lt;li & gt;180g Vinyl & lt;/li & gt; & lt;li & gt;Half-Speed Mastered by Miles Showell at Abbey Road Studios & lt;/li & gt; & lt;li & gt;Available as a stand-alone half-speed master LP for the first time & lt;/li & gt; & lt;li & gt;Handsome tip-on jacket replicating original packaging & lt;/li & gt; & lt;li & gt;Made in Germany & lt;/li & gt; & lt;/ul & gt; & lt;/section & gt; & lt;section id= & quot;selections & quot; & gt; & lt;h3 & gt;Selections & lt;/h3 & gt; & lt;h4 & gt;Side One: & lt;/h4 & gt; & lt;ol & gt; & lt;li & gt;Down On The Corner & lt;/li & gt; & lt;li & gt;It Came Out Of The Sky & lt;/li & gt; & lt;li & gt;Cotton Fields & lt;/li & gt; & lt;li & gt;Poorboy Shuffle & lt;/li & gt; & lt;li & gt;Feelin' Blue & lt;/li & gt; & lt;/ol & gt; & lt;h4 & gt;Side Two: & lt;/h4 & gt; & lt;ol & gt; & lt;li & gt;Fortunate Son & lt;/li & gt; & lt;li & gt;Don't Look Now (It Ain't You Or Me) & lt;/li & gt; & lt;li & gt;The Midnight Special & lt;/li & gt; & lt;li & gt;Side O' The Road & lt;/li & gt; & lt;li & gt;Effigy & lt;/li & gt; & lt;/ol & gt; & lt;/section & gt;

Though comprised of some of the biggest names in modern music, the band was much more nonchalant than that. Formed out of genuine friendship and spontaneity (and some would say pure kismet), the Traveling Wilburys were & lt;b & gt;George Harrison, Bob Dylan, Jeff Lynne, Tom Petty, & lt;/b & gt; and & lt;b & gt;Roy Orbison. & lt;/b & gt; & lt;br & gt; & lt;br & gt; The music they created together on their 1988 debut would win GRAMMY®s and garner platinum plaques, but, more than anything, it was a testament to the group's enduring chemistry and collective genius. The Kenny Wayne Shepherd Band The Traveler 180g LP (Vinyl)
& lt;font color= & quot;#FF0000 & quot; & gt; & lt;b & gt;Original Music + Two Covers On 180g Vinyl LP! & lt;/b & gt; & lt;/font & gt; & lt;br & gt; & lt;br & gt; & lt;b & gt;Kenny Wayne Shepherd Band Distills a Quarter Century Onstage to Deliver the Traveler & lt;/b & gt; & lt;br & gt; & lt;br & gt; The Traveler is an album of experience and profound resonance by the Kenny Wayne Shepherd Band. Recorded in Los Angeles, while the band was on a break from their uncompromising tour schedule that left them road-tested and ready to rock, The Traveler showcases some world-class musicians: vocalist & lt;b & gt;Noah Hunt & lt;/b & gt;, drummer & lt;b & gt;Chris & quot;Whipper & quot; Layton & lt;/b & gt; (formerly of Stevie Ray Vaughan’s Double Trouble), bassist & lt;b & gt;Kevin McCormick & lt;/b & gt;, and keyboardists & lt;b & gt;Jimmy McGorman & lt;/b & gt; and & lt;b & gt;Joe Krown & lt;/b & gt;. The album features ten songs including eight new originals co-written by Kenny Wayne Shepherd and some of Nashville’s most in-demand songwriters, plus incendiary & lt;b & gt;covers of Buffalo Springfield’s & quot;Mr. Soul & quot; and Joe Walsh’s & quot;Turn to Stone. & quot; & lt;/b & gt; & lt;br & gt; & lt;br & gt; & lt;b & gt; & quot;Because of my family, my friends, and my fans I’ve been able to explore the depths of music and chase songs wherever they may lead me, & quot; & lt;/b & gt; says Kenny Wayne. & lt;b & gt; & quot;We’ve been able to do things and go places that were once just a dream, and it’s all because of the music and the people who support it. The Traveler is a return on their investment. & quot; & lt;/b & gt; & lt;br & gt; & lt;br & gt; Co-produced by Shepherd and Marshall Altman, The Traveler features some of the most distinctive music of Kenny Wayne’s storied career. New originals & quot;Woman Like You, & quot; & quot;Long Time Running, & quot; & quot;I Want You, & quot; & quot;Gravity & quot; and & quot;Tailwind & quot; (whose heartfelt lyrical metaphor provides the album’s title image) offer a scintillating balance of finesse and firepower, while the artist pays tribute to his influences with the album’s two covers. The seed for Shepherd’s menacing take on & quot;Mr. Soul & quot; was planted when he performed the song at a benefit show with Springfield founders Stephen Stills and Neil Young, and his epic reading of Joe Walsh’s & quot;Turn to Stone & quot; was first performed by Shepherd at a fundraising concert honoring Walsh. & lt;br & gt; & lt;br & gt; Now a quarter century into a career that started when he was 16, Shepherd is staying busier than ever with the release of The Traveler. & lt;br & gt; & lt;br & gt; Kenny Wayne Shepherd has sold millions of albums worldwide and, in addition to his five Grammy nominations, has won two Billboard Music Awards, a pair of Orville H. Gibson awards, the Blues Foundation’s Keeping The Blues Alive award and two Blues Music awards. & lt;br & gt; & lt;br & gt; & lt;b & gt;Features: & lt;/b & gt; & lt;br & gt; & amp;bull; 180g Vinyl LP & lt;br & gt; & amp;bull; Mastering by Bob Ludwig, Gateway Studios, Portland, Maine & lt;br & gt; & amp;bull; Limited time download code & lt;br & gt; & amp;bull; Made in the EU & lt;br & gt; & lt;br & gt; & lt;b & gt;Selections: & lt;/b & gt; & lt;br & gt; 1. A breakout performance for the jazz legend - this album displays Lincoln perfectly poised between jazz for show and jazz with a purpose. The album features an all-star lineup that includes Kenny Dorham, Stanley Turrentine, Wynton Kelly, Sam Jones, Philly Joe Jones and Max Roach. 180G LP. Single Tip-On Jacket. & lt;/p & gt; & lt;blockquote cite= & quot;www.pastemagazine.com & quot; & gt; In 1960, Abbey Lincoln was given a major platform for her vocal talents on Max Roach's daring political jazz album We Insist!. It opened the doors to collaborations with Eric Dolphy and Cedar Walton, as well as acting gigs for TV and film. That work has often overshadowed Lincoln's earlier efforts, like this wonderful collection recorded for Riverside in 1959. The music is delicate and restrained. The musicians - Stanley Turrentine, Julian Priester and Philly Joe Jones, among them - sneak into the picture cautiously, not daring to pull focus from Lincoln's cooly powerful vocals. She exerts no effort and avoids all flights of musical fancy. Lincoln states her case plainly and beautifully. And this new edition, remastered by the great Kevin Gray at Cohearant Audio, feels as rich and indulgent as a lava cake. & lt;footer & gt; -Robert Ham, Paste Magazine & lt;/footer & gt; & lt;/blockquote & gt; & lt;blockquote cite= & quot;www.theabsolutesound.com & quot; & gt; We all get the blues, and sometimes it takes a musician who has plunged into the depths to help us come out on the other side. Santana In Search Of Mona Lisa 12" Vinyl EP
& lt;font color= & quot;#FF0000 & quot; & gt; & lt;b & gt;Dramatic Five-Track Vinyl EP! & lt;/b & gt; & lt;/font & gt; & lt;br & gt; & lt;br & gt; On three spellbinding and transportive new songs, Carlos Santana takes listeners inside a magical and deeply personal experience he had when he visited the Louvre Museum in Paris, France and set his eyes on Leonardo da Vinci’s beguiling masterpiece. The experience of seeing the Mona Lisa for the first time came flooding back to Santana months later, when he awoke from a dream with the lyrics to what would become the songs & quot;In Search of Mona Lisa & quot; and & quot;Do You Remember Me & quot; fully formed in his mind. & lt;b & gt; & quot;It was the first time that I ever woke up and lyrics were there in a tangible way, & quot; & lt;/b & gt; he reveals. & lt;b & gt; & quot;I could just grab them and write the songs. & quot; & lt;/b & gt; & lt;br & gt; & lt;br & gt; On & quot;Do You Remember Me & quot;, Carlos begins the song with passionate melodies and an invitation to dance. Once the band kicks in with a graceful Afro-Cuban groove (courtesy of wife Cindy Blackman Santana on drums, with Karl Perazzo on congas, timbales and percussion), Santana opens up on a full five minutes of some of his most gorgeous soloing yet – his lead lines are stinging, teasing, crying and sensuous – before singers Andy Vargas and Ray Greene take over. The EP's title track sets an entirely different mood. Santana had shown his lyrics for & quot;In Search of Mona Lisa & quot; to producer Narada Michael Walden, who suggested a Bo Diddley-esque rhythm. & quot;I wasn't expecting that, but I immediately liked the idea, & quot; Santana says. With Walden rocking a rave-up drumbeat (he also overdubbed bass and keyboards), Santana lets loose with biting, wah-drenched call-and-response phrases with singer Cornell & quot;CC & quot; Carter before he takes flight on an impassioned extended guitar solo. & lt;br & gt; & lt;br & gt; While & quot;In Search of Mona Lisa & quot; was being recorded, Cindy suggested doing something more symphonic and bringing in bass master Ron Carter. & quot;That's all I needed to hear, & quot; Santana enthuses. & quot;I was like, 'Oh, my God. Of course!' & quot; The resulting track, & quot;Lovers From Another Time & quot;, unfolds much like the painting that inspired the music itself, with the dual drumming of Cindy and Walden mixing with Carter's elegant basslines to create a living and breathing canvas on which Santana splashes vibrant six-string colors and textures. & lt;br & gt; & lt;br & gt; & lt;b & gt;Features: & lt;/b & gt; & lt;br & gt; & amp;bull; 12 & quot; Vinyl EP & lt;br & gt; & lt;br & gt; & lt;b & gt;Selections: & lt;br & gt; Side 1: & lt;/b & gt; & lt;br & gt; 1. This Memphis foursome, originally founded by Chris Bell in 1971 and joined shortly thereafter by the legendary chameleon Alex Chilton, would suffer due to personnel issues and distribution problems by their label, delaying their place in musical history. One of the ultimate cult bands in popular music, #1 Record and Radio City would both influence artists-to-come such as Tom Petty, R.E.M., The Replacements and The Bangles, to name just a few. Both titles placed within Rolling Stone magazine's poll of The 500 Greatest Albums of All Time. & lt;/p & gt; & lt;p & gt;#1 Record (1972) is the band's only full album to feature Chris Bell. This brilliant debut sustains a 1960's British feel mixed with a Memphis edge. The layered twin alpha-male harmonies are slightly reminiscent of Lennon and McCartney's early Parlophone sides. The singles released, & quot;When My Baby's Beside Me & quot; and & quot;Don't Lie To Me & quot; reveal surprisingly elegant songwriting from talent so young while another album track, & quot;In The Streets & quot;, would later be resurrected and slightly reworked as the main opening theme to the television sit-com That 70's Show, turning a whole new generation onto their staying power. & lt;/p & gt; & lt;blockquote cite= & quot;quote source & quot; & gt; Chilton wrote this acoustic ballad about two kids in love with rock & amp; roll, featuring the deathless couplet 'Won't you tell your dad, 'Get off my back'/Tell him what we said about 'Paint It Black.' It's simple musically; as Chilton said, 'I was still learning to play and stuff.' It never came out as a single or got any radio play, but 'Thirteen' is one of rock's most beautiful celebrations of adolescence. & lt;footer & gt; -Rolling Stone & lt;/footer & gt; & lt;/blockquote & gt; & lt;blockquote cite= & quot;www.pastemagazine.com & quot; & gt; Reissues of Big Star's work are abundant, including multiple repressings of these albums, but unless you're willing to take out a second mortgage to afford OG copies of #1 Record and Radio City, this is truly your best bet. Both Craft pressings were taken from the original analog master tapes and sound exactly as you'd hope. The rockers explode, the ballads melt, and everything in between feels as cushy and warm as ever. If you have some Christmas cash still burning a hole in your pocket, use it to get these into your collection. & lt;footer & gt; -Robert Ham, Paste Magazine & lt;/footer & gt; & lt;/blockquote & gt; & lt;blockquote cite= & quot;www.analogplanet.com & quot; & gt; Mastered by Jeff Powell at Take Out Vinyl and pressed at Memphis Record Pressings, my copy was nothing less than phenomenal... #1 Record is an album that belongs in your collection, it's as simple as that. Junior Wells Coming At You 180g LP (Vinyl)
& lt;font color= & quot;#FF0000 & quot; & gt; & lt;b & gt;180g Vinyl LP! First Time On Vinyl In 40 Years! & lt;br & gt; Lacquers Cut From Original Analog Masters by Capitol Mastering's Ron McMaster! & lt;/b & gt; & lt;/font & gt; & lt;br & gt; & lt;br & gt; The Chicago blues vocalist, harmonica player, and recording artist, Junior Wells was one of the pioneers of the amplified blues harp-style associated with Chicago. His signature songs was & quot;Messin' With the Kid' and his 1965 album, Hoodoo Man Blues, was described by Bill Dahl as 'one of the truly classic blues albums of the 1960s. & quot; & lt;br & gt; & lt;br & gt; One of the great electric blues albums of the ‘60s, this gem features harmonica player and singer Junior Wells at his finest. With fellow Chicago musician Buddy Guy on lead guitar, Coming At You showcases the two fiery musician’s talents in the studio, as they play a selection of blues standards. Back on vinyl for the first time in over 40 years, this 50th anniversary reissue was cut from the original analog master, pressed on 180-gram vinyl, and comes housed in a tip-on jacket. & lt;br & gt; & lt;br & gt; & lt;b & gt; & quot;Another eminently solid outing by the legendary harpist that captures his trademark barroom bravado in a studio setting. The band is quite tight -- Buddy Guy and Lefty Dizz are the guitarists, Douglas Fagan plays sax, and Clark Terry, believe it or not, occupies a third of the trumpet section -- and the set list is dominated by oldies from both Sonny Boys, Willie Dixon, and John D. Loudermilk (Junior invests his & quot;Tobacco Road & quot; with a lights-out toughness that the Nashville Teens could never even imagine). & quot; & lt;/b & gt; - allmusic.com & lt;br & gt; & lt;br & gt; & quot;The Original Blues Brothers, & quot; as Rolling Stone dubbed them (Buddy Guy and Junior Wells), were frequent studio and stage collaborators throughout the ‘60s and ’70s, producing some of their finest recorded work together. 2018 marks the 50th anniversary for both Buddy Guy’s A Man and the Blues and Junior Well’s Coming at You, seminal albums from the Vanguard Records archives that were among the first to capture Chicago’s signature electric blues sound. Both titles are reissued on 180-gram vinyl cut from the original analog masters by Capitol Mastering’s Ron McMaster. & lt;br & gt; & lt;br & gt; & lt;b & gt;Features: & lt;/b & gt; & lt;br & gt; & amp;bull; 180g Vinyl & lt;br & gt; & amp;bull; 50th Anniversary Edition & lt;br & gt; & amp;bull; Available on vinyl for the first time in 40 years! & lt;br & gt; & amp;bull; Lacquers cut from the original analog masters by Ron McMaster at Capitol Mastering & lt;br & gt; & amp;bull; Tip-on jacket & lt;br & gt; & lt;br & gt; & lt;b & gt;Musicians: & lt;/b & gt; & lt;br & gt; Junior Wells, harmonica, vocals & lt;br & gt; Buddy Guy, lead guitar & lt;br & gt; Walter Williams, rhythm guitar & lt;br & gt; Douglas Fagan, tenor sax & lt;br & gt; Levi Warren, drums & lt;br & gt; Tom Crawford, bass & lt;br & gt; Clark Terry, trumpet & lt;br & gt; Wallace Davenport, trumpet & lt;br & gt; Jimmy Owens, trumpet & lt;br & gt; Tom McIntosh, trombone on & quot;Stop Breakin' Down & quot;, & quot;Little By Little & quot; and & quot;You Don't Love Me & quot; & lt;br & gt; & lt;br & gt; & lt;b & gt;Selections: & lt;br & gt; Side One: & lt;/b & gt; & lt;br & gt; 1. & lt;font color= & quot;#FF0000 & quot; & gt; & lt;b & gt;Intimate Live Re-Workings Of Classic Favorites On 180g Vinyl Double LP! & lt;br & gt; First Time On Vinyl! & lt;br & gt; Mastered by Ryan Smith at Sterling Sound & amp; Pressed at RTI!! & lt;/b & gt; & lt;/font & gt; & lt;br & gt; & lt;br & gt; This 2007 album features Taylor performing classic songs from across his catalog with just guitar and piano accompaniment. Never before available on vinyl the album has been certified Gold by RIAA. & lt;br & gt; & lt;br & gt; The album includes hits such as & quot;Country Road, & quot; & quot;You’ve Got A Friend, & quot; & quot;Sweet Baby James, & quot; & quot;Carolina In My Mind, & quot; & quot;Fire and Rain & quot; and & quot;Copperline. & quot; & lt;br & gt; & lt;br & gt; & lt;b & gt; & quot;There is something satisfying about listening to One Man Band on vinyl, as opposed to a CD or streaming. It is most likely the nostalgic feeling that you get when you put the needle on the record and hear a timeless song like 'You've Got a Friend' play over the speakers. Of course, the 180-gram vinyl sounds a lot better than that used vinyl copy of Sweet Baby James that has lasted since the 70's. Being that this is a live recording and it's the first time it's being released on vinyl, it is a perfect addition for someone who has heard the hits and would like to hear more of James Taylor as well as the lifetime Taylor fans. Music fans can't go wrong by listening to an artist that The Beatles themselves signed to Apple Records in the sixties. & quot; & lt;/b & gt; - Joey Willis, Glide Magazine & lt;br & gt; & lt;br & gt; & lt;b & gt;Features: & lt;/b & gt; & lt;br & gt; & amp;bull; 180g Vinyl & lt;br & gt; & amp;bull; Double LP & lt;br & gt; & amp;bull; First time on vinyl & lt;br & gt; & amp;bull; Mastering and lacquers cut by Ryan Smith at Sterling Sound & lt;br & gt; & amp;bull; Pressed at RTI & lt;br & gt; & amp;bull; Gatefold jacket & lt;br & gt; & amp;bull; Made in U.S.A. & lt;br & gt; & lt;br & gt; & lt;b & gt;Selections: & lt;br & gt; Side A: & lt;/b & gt; & lt;br & gt; 1.
