180g Vinyl LP! First Time On Vinyl In 40 Years!
Lacquers Cut From Original Analog Masters by Capitol Mastering's Ron McMaster!
The Chicago blues vocalist, harmonica player, and recording artist, Junior Wells was one of the pioneers of the amplified blues harp-style associated with Chicago. His signature songs was "Messin' With the Kid' and his 1965 album, Hoodoo Man Blues, was described by Bill Dahl as 'one of the truly classic blues albums of the 1960s."
One of the great electric blues albums of the 60s, this gem features harmonica player and singer Junior Wells at his finest. With fellow Chicago musician Buddy Guy on lead guitar, Coming At You showcases the two fiery musicians talents in the studio, as they play a selection of blues standards. Back on vinyl for the first time in over 40 years, this 50th anniversary reissue was cut from the original analog master, pressed on 180-gram vinyl, and comes housed in a tip-on jacket.
"Another eminently solid outing by the legendary harpist that captures his trademark barroom bravado in a studio setting. The band is quite tight -- Buddy Guy and Lefty Dizz are the guitarists, Douglas Fagan plays sax, and Clark Terry, believe it or not, occupies a third of the trumpet section -- and the set list is dominated by oldies from both Sonny Boys, Willie Dixon, and John D. Loudermilk (Junior invests his "Tobacco Road" with a lights-out toughness that the Nashville Teens could never even imagine)." - allmusic.com
"The Original Blues Brothers," as Rolling Stone dubbed them (Buddy Guy and Junior Wells), were frequent studio and stage collaborators throughout the 60s and 70s, producing some of their finest recorded work together. 2018 marks the 50th anniversary for both Buddy Guys A Man and the Blues and Junior Wells Coming at You, seminal albums from the Vanguard Records archives that were among the first to capture Chicagos signature electric blues sound. Both titles are reissued on 180-gram vinyl cut from the original analog masters by Capitol Masterings Ron McMaster.
