When the vehicle is not in reverse, the display completely disappears and the mirror is used for its normal functions. This mirror retains all OnStar functionality in the vehicle. Compatibility
This GM factory replacement rear view mirror with backup camera monitor is compatible with all GM vehicles with OnStar emergency system buttons built into the mirror. If your current factory mirror has the OnStar emergency system buttons and a 10-pin or 16-pin black connector on the back of the mirror you will be able to use your vehicles wiring to the mirror for a simplified connection (see installation guide for details).
