All tracks were recorded across several different shows: Carnegie Hall (New York, 1996), The Philharmonic (Munich, 1994), Flynn Theater (Burlington, 1993), The Great American Music Hall (San Francisco, 1994), The Hammersmith Apollo (London, 1994), The Sommerville Theater (Sommerville, 1993), and Park West (Chicago, 1990).

To celebrate the posthumously released J.J. Cale album "Stay Around", Because Music releases first-time vinyl pressings of four of his albums, "Closer To You", "Guitar Man", "Live", and "To Tulsa and Back".
