Specifications | The USB-C to HDMI adapter allows devices that support DisplayPort Alternate Mode to output onto a separate display at resolutions up to 4K UHD 60Hz. DisplayPort Alternate Mode leverages the features provided by USB 3.1 to allow devices to output onto a separate display, while providing resolutions up to 4K. (Note that resolution and refresh rates are dependent on the source device). It does this by repurposing the wires in USB 3.1 (USB 3.1 has 4 lanes / 8 wires). Power delivery (USB PD) is also supported when DisplayPort Alternate Mode is implemented. Note that your source device must have DisplayPort Alternate Mode. Such devices include the 12" Apple Macbook, Google Chromebook Pixel (certain models), along with several other devices. If you plug in a non supported device, it will not damage the device, but no video will be displayed. Compact / Portable Size The USB-C adapter features a compact size, allowing on-the-go travel and convenient display expandability. 4K Support 60Hz Support DisplayPort Alternate Mode allows content to be outputted onto a separate display at resolutions up to 4K (3840x2160 @60Hz). Alternate Mode USB-C includes support for alternate mode. This allows users with alternate mode computers, laptops, and devices to connect to a display. As long as the device's USB-C port supports DisplayPort Alternate Mode, you're good to go. Note that your device may have support for other alternate mode configurations. These cannot be used interchangeably. |
