Limited Edition 180g Vinyl 5LP Box Set!
Rod's First 4 Warner Bros. Albums Remastered!
Includes Bonus LP of Rare & Unreleased Session Outtakes!
A new boxed set that features Rod Stewart's first four Warner albums on vinyl, plus a bonus LP of rare and unreleased studio outtakes from those albums: Atlantic Crossing (1975), A Night On The Town (1976), Foot Loose & Fancy Free (1977), and Blondes Have More Fun (1978).
After being out of print for decades, the studio albums look and sound better than ever as they return to vinyl, complete with replica sleeves and newly remastered sound. The albums and the bonus LP are all organized in an iridescent box with Stewart foil-stamped on the cover, his blonde shag haircut glistening in gold, and his leopard-print suit shimmering in silver.
With an estimated 250 million in album and single sales, Rock and Roll Hall of Famer Rod Stewart arguably possesses one of rock's greatest and most distinctive voices. For many years, he called Warner Bros. home, first as lead singer of the influential band the Faces and later as an internationally successful solo artist.
This five-LP set spotlights a fascinating transitional period for British superstar Rod Stewart, as he moved past the soccer hooligan rock of his first run of solo albums and his work with Faces. The goal was pop superstardom. And he accomplished that mission by slowly and steadily giving a slick makeover to his R&B-infused take on modern rock. The four albums collected here carry the whiff of awkward musical adolescence as Stewart beefs up Motown favorites; dabbles in hard rock, prog and disco; and playacts at domestic bliss while still lyrically playing the field. Original copies of these albums are not at all hard to find used, but longtime Rod fans will likely thrill to the nice remastering work done to each LP ('You're Insane' from Foot Loose is particularly loud and bright, and the bass work on Blondes really pops) and the addition of a fifth disc of rarities including three lovely soul covers Stewart recorded with Booker T. & the M.G.'s.
