Released in 1967, the group experimented with a psychedelic sound and incorporated unconventional instruments, sound effects and string arrangements. The titles is a play on "Her Britannic Majesty requests..." text that appears inside a British passport.

Their Satanic Majesties Request became the first Stones self produced album, since producer/manager Andrew Loog Oldham, fed up with the band's lack of focus, left right after starting recording at a studio.

In response to The Beatles Sargent Pepper's album, Their Satanic Majesties Request is The Rolling Stones stab at the psychedelic '60s.

Produced by the band, engineered by Glyn Johns and with string arrangements by John Paul Jones it features some of their most imaginative soundscapes, which included African rhythms, mellotrons, ‘found voices’ and full orchestration.

The album features Bill Wyman’s debut writing and singing credit on a Stones release - In Another Land.

High-end Audiophile 50th Anniversary Edition contains both mono & stereo versions of the original album on 180g Vinyl as well as two hybrid SACDs and features restored original lenticular cover and bespoke fold out packaging. The set also contains a 20-page book with essay and photos from Michael Cooper's original cover photo session.
