& lt;p & gt;Claude Diallo lived in the US for 14 years of which he spent 11 years in New York. Moving back to Switzerland, he established a new home and family. Musically this project is also a new home for him because it is the first release with this band, although
they have performed together since 2005. In addition, almost all the compositions have something to do with family. & lt;/p & gt;
& lt;p & gt; & quot;One Last Prayer For You & quot; is dedicated to Lorraine Bolling, daughter of the first African-American senator of Massachusetts. A huge supporter, she passed away at age 51. & quot;Nina's Theme & quot; was written for the 70th birthday of his aunt, classically trained
pianist Nina Zafran. & quot;Leo Mathieu & quot; was written for his son, now aged 2 and & quot;Yours & quot; is dedicated to his wife Daniela. & lt;/p & gt;

Louis Armstrong The Standard Oil Sessions Hand-Numbered Limited Edition LP (Vinyl)
& lt;font color= & quot;#FF0000 & quot; & gt; & lt;b & gt;Hand-Numbered Limited Edition - 800 Copies! & lt;br & gt; Previously Unheard Recordings From Louis Armstrong's Personal Collection! & lt;br & gt; Restored & amp; Remastered! & lt;/b & gt; & lt;/font & gt; & lt;br & gt; & lt;br & gt; Recently Dot Time Records reached an agreement with the Louis Armstrong Educational Foundation to release four albums of previously unreleased music from the Louis Armstrong Collection. During the next two years these albums will be released on CD, Vinyl and Digital platforms. & lt;br & gt; & lt;br & gt; During his lifetime Louis Armstrong amassed a huge collection of recordings. From live concerts to studio and broadcast recordings, the range is extensive. The majority of these recordings along with other Armstrong Artifacts are held in the Louis Armstrong Collection at Queens College in New York. The Louis Armstrong Legacy Series will bring a selection of these recordings from Louis's personal collection to the public for the first time ever. & lt;b & gt; & quot;Producing this music will mean people can connect again with the greatness of Louis Armstrong, & quot; & lt;/b & gt; said series producer Jerry Roche. & lt;br & gt; & lt;br & gt; The first release in the series is titled The Standard Oil Sessions. Any list of the greatest trumpet, trombone and piano players in jazz history must include Louis Armstrong, Jack Teagarden and Earl & quot;Fatha & quot; Hines on those respective instruments. Those three towering figures performed together night in and night out for almost four full years as part of a Hall of Fame lineup edition of Louis Armstrong and His All Stars from 1948-1951. Because Armstrong was in the middle of recording a string of pop hits for Decca, there are few studio recordings of Armstrong, Teagarden and Hines together. & lt;br & gt; & lt;br & gt; In January 20, 1950, Armstrong, Teagarden and Hines broke away from the All Stars to participate in a taping of a & quot;Standard School Broadcast & quot; in San Francisco. The show was part of a series sponsored by Standard Oil and featured the popular San Francisco-based guitarist and vocalist Clancy Hayes as & quot;Jack-Of-All-Tunes & quot; and Jack Cahill as & quot;Matt the Mapmaker & quot;. Each episode focused on Hayes and Cahill putting together a & quot;Musical Map of America & quot;, featuring the sounds of a different region. For reasons not known, the results were never broadcast on commercial radio but rather were edited and sent to schools to be used in classroom teaching. Armstrong, Teagarden and Hines recorded episode 19, & quot;Musical Story of New Orleans & quot;, and Louis was personally given the acetate discs of the sessions. & lt;br & gt; & lt;br & gt; & lt;b & gt; & quot;In this day and age of content overflow and regurgitated re-releases, to be able to hear music from Louis Armstrong that has never before seen the light of day is amazing. This series may be the most historically significant jazz release of the decade. I can't wait! & quot; & lt;/b & gt; - Peter McLaren, Senior Writer, Jazz In Europe & lt;br & gt; & lt;br & gt; & lt;b & gt; & quot;Louis amassed an incredible personal collection of concert recordings, nightclub broadcasts and other previously unissued gems that have eluded collectors and discographers for decades. Thanks to Dot Time Legends, Armstrong fans from around the world will finally be able to enjoy these treasures. & quot; & lt;/b & gt; - Ricky Riccardi, Director of Research Collections for the Louis Armstrong House Museum & lt;br & gt; & lt;br & gt; & lt;b & gt;Features: & lt;/b & gt; & lt;br & gt; & amp;bull; Hand-Numbered, Limited Edition - Only 800 Copies & lt;br & gt; & amp;bull; Vinyl LP & lt;br & gt; & amp;bull; Previously unheard recordings & lt;br & gt; & amp;bull; Features Jack Teagarden and Earl Hines & lt;br & gt; & amp;bull; Transferred from Louis Armstrong's personal acetate discs of the complete recording session & lt;br & gt; & amp;bull; Edited and remastered by Lou Gimenez at The Music Lab, Elmont, NY & lt;br & gt; & amp;bull; Vinyl mastering by Caspar Sutton-Jones at Gearbox Records, London, UK & lt;br & gt; & amp;bull; Sleeve notes by Ricky Riccardi, Director of Research Collections for the Louis Armstrong House Museum & lt;br & gt; & lt;br & gt; & lt;b & gt;Musicians: & lt;/b & gt; & lt;br & gt; Louis Armstrong, trumpet, vocals & lt;br & gt; Jack Teagarden, trombone, vocals & lt;br & gt; Earl & quot;Fatha & quot; Hines, piano & lt;br & gt; Lyle Johnson, clarinet & lt;br & gt; Clancy Hayes, guitar & lt;br & gt; Bass & amp; Drums: Unknown & lt;br & gt; Radio Hosts: & lt;br & gt; Clancy Hayes and (Jack Of All Tunes) Jack Cahill & lt;br & gt; & lt;br & gt; & lt;b & gt;Selections: & lt;br & gt; Side One: & lt;/b & gt; & lt;br & gt; 1. & lt;p & gt;Part of Dot Time's Legends Series, Louis Armstrong Live In France features the audio from a quintessential European performance by the great Louis Armstrong which was recovered from the archives of the Louis Armstrong House Museum. Louis Armstrong Live
In France features the audio from a 1948 performance recorded from Louis Armstrong and His All Stars' run at the Nice Opera House in Paris. This historical concert marked Armstrong's performance at the first ever Nice International Jazz Festival. & lt;/p & gt;
& lt;p & gt;This is the first time this music has ever been made commerically available. & lt;/p & gt;

Dot Time has performed a valuable service to the music lover community by releasing this LP. Louis Armstrong Live in France could have been a sloppy release put out by a record label that's just looking to cash in. Instead, we get a pressing that is dead silent, so you aren't struggling to hear the magic over all sorts of surface noise. This certainly isn't an expansive sound - in fact, it's kind of the opposite - but the tonality of this band is superb. You can hear that intensity in every note, that feeling that this European tour is important because the Europeans got Louis a long time ago and they never let go. That's the spirit you should have while listening to this remarkable discovery. If you love Louis as much as I do, you'll appreciate this utterly new perspective on his genius and consider it mandatory for any record collection.

Like much of Armstrong's work, this sextet directed their rhythms toward the dancefloor - heading first for the hips and letting the brain catch up after the song splashed to a conclusion. And the audible, rollicking joy these men brought to this concert, even some 70 years later, remains infectious.

This is the fifth recent Dot Time release dedicated to previously unissued Louis Armstrong recordings, and probably the best. Why? Because this early edition of his All-Stars band lived up to its name more than any other, with Jack Teagarden on trombone, Barney Bigard on clarinet, Earl Hines on piano, and Big Sid Catlett on drums. When this outfit gets going, the level of virtuosic fireworks has to be heard to be believed... It's worth noting that, while Armstrong had been cast as a jazz anti-modernist at this time, the wild collective improvisations of these 'moldy figs' made the arrangements of even the most outré boppers seem almost tame, while the more grounded melodic and harmonic approach helps give the music an almost elemental power. It is difficult not to be moved by tracks like 'Black and Blue,' and impossible to sit still for stompers like 'Panama' and & quot;Royal Garden Blues.' Sound quality is variable, sometimes pretty good and sometimes just good enough, but the transcendent music more than makes up for it.

& lt;p & gt;Evan Arntzen, renowned multireedist, vocalist and bandleader, presents his third album as a bandleader, Countermelody. This uplifting new release is a celebration of the interplay, collective improvisation and soulful counterpoint that played such a big
role in Black American Music emanating from New Orleans in the first half of the 20th century. During a time when convening is all but impossible, Countermelody brings the gaiety of live music to the recorded realm.
& lt;/p & gt;
& lt;p & gt;Countermelody brings early-jazz-exuberance to an eager present in a release which author and Louis Armstrong Co-historian, Ricky Riccardi, calls & quot;the very definition of timeless & quot; in the album's liner notes. Arntzen's Dot Time Records debut features many
of his own astounding arrangements of early New Orleans and Chicago jazz compositions written by such luminaries as Kid Ory, Sidney Bechet and Bennie Moten. The release also features wonderfully innovative compositions by Arntzen, Benny Green and Kellso.
& lt;/p & gt;
& lt;p & gt;Recorded on October 2nd and 3rd, 2020, the group of stellar musicians featured on Countermelody gathered together to create music that will inspire listeners everywhere to get up, share joy and dance. & lt;/p & gt;

Ben Webster Valentine's Day 1964, Live Hand-Numbered Limited Edition 180g LP (Vinyl)
& lt;font color= & quot;#FF0000 & quot; & gt; & lt;b & gt;Hand-Numbered, Limited Edition 180g Vinyl - 500 Copies! & lt;br & gt; Previously Unheard Recording - One Of Webster's Last Great USA Performances! & lt;br & gt; Restored & amp; Remastered! & lt;/b & gt; & lt;/font & gt; & lt;br & gt; & lt;br & gt; In 1963 Ben Webster moved to New York with a renewed energy. He was seen sitting in with Duke Ellington on opening night at Basin Street East and becoming the spontaneous pianist for Gerry Mulligan's Concert Band at Birdland. He gigged at the Shalimar, Birdland and the Half Note with a quartet of revolving personnel. This recording captures just one such night. Ben's sidemen, Dave Frishberg, Richard Davis and Grady Tate were more than twenty years his junior, but the language they shared was trans-generational. Webster spent the remaining nine years of his life living and playing in Europe. This is one of his last great performances in the USA. & lt;br & gt; & lt;br & gt; Painstakingly restored and remastered, this is a Limited Edition, 180 gram, Hand-Numbered Vinyl release. & lt;br & gt; & lt;br & gt; & lt;b & gt;Features: & lt;/b & gt; & lt;br & gt; & amp;bull; Hand-Numbered, Limited Edition - Only 500 Copies! & lt;br & gt; & amp;bull; 180g Vinyl & lt;br & gt; & amp;bull; Undocumented Band & lt;br & gt; & amp;bull; Liner notes by Michael Cascuna & lt;br & gt; & amp;bull; One of the last great USA performances by Webster before his permanent move to Europe & lt;br & gt; & amp;bull; Previously unheard recording & lt;br & gt; & amp;bull; Edited and remastered by Lou Gimenez at The Music Lab, Elmont, NY & lt;br & gt; & amp;bull; Vinyl mastering by Caspar Sutton-Jones at Gearbox Records, London, UK & lt;br & gt; & lt;br & gt; & lt;b & gt;Musicians: & lt;/b & gt; & lt;br & gt; Ben Webster, saxophone & lt;br & gt; Dave Frishberg, piano & lt;br & gt; Richard Davis, bass & lt;br & gt; Grady Tate, drum & lt;br & gt; & lt;br & gt; & lt;b & gt;Selections: & lt;br & gt; Side A: & lt;/b & gt; & lt;br & gt; 1. Dave Liebman Expansions Selflessness: The Music Of John Coltrane LP (Vinyl)
& lt;header & gt;
& lt;p & gt; & lt;strong & gt;A Tribute To John Coltrane On Vinyl LP!
& lt;/strong & gt; & lt;/p & gt;
& lt;/header & gt;
& lt;p & gt;NEA Jazz Master Dave Liebman has always declared that if he had to name one primary influence and inspiration, it would be John Coltrane. The first time he saw Coltrane at Birdland in February 1962, he was 15 years old. As he recounts in his autobiography,
What It Is, that was the night he saw the light, though he didn't realize it for years. & quot;Once you see the light, & quot; he explains, & quot;you can never turn away from it, though you may try. I went to see Coltrane from then on, anytime I could. & quot;
& lt;/p & gt;
& lt;p & gt;This new tribute is special in many ways: it's by his working band Expansions, not a group of players brought together just to make an album. All of the pieces are newly arranged and rethought - mostly by Liebman, but also by members of the band. It also
marks Dave's return to an album entirely on soprano saxophone - the instrument with which he is most associated. & lt;/p & gt;
& lt;p & gt;It's beyond evident, as well, that Dave has a unique and recognizable style, a strong musical personality that is in no way an imitation of Trane's. Liebman is an NEA Jazz Master for good reason - his fluency, clarity and originality on soprano are mind-boggling. & lt;/p & gt;
& lt;p & gt;Selflessness is released on September 3, 2021 to coincide with Dave Liebman's 75th birthday the following day. & lt;/p & gt;
& lt;blockquote cite= & quot;quote source & quot; & gt;
I have been 'Chasin' the Trane for 60-plus years. I can honestly say that he was greatly responsible for who I am...and who I wish to be.

& lt;p & gt;Almost 40 years after its original limited release, Ballads For Two can now reach a broader audience, seeing as its initial limited-print vinyl would often have fans set sails on a treasure hunt for a copy of this marvelous collaboration between the two
jazz virtuosos. & lt;/p & gt;
& lt;p & gt;Meticulously remastered at Gearbox Records, Ballads For Two features a total of 8 tracks, including Lackerschmid originals as well as select covers. This Dot Time Legends release comes with two bonus tracks from the vinyl's original recording session
which took place in a Stuttgart, Germany studio back in 1979. Marriage between the two artists' sounds could be described as an & quot;emotive and telepathic & quot; partnership of Baker's trumpet and Lackerschmid's vibes, with the former unveiling the true breadth
of his talent, and claiming his much-deserved place among jazz greats. Album highlights include & quot;Blue Bossa & quot; and & quot;Waltz For Susan & quot;, while fans will appreciate an alternate take of & quot;Why Shouldn't You Cry & quot;, as well as a mesmerizing performance of Lackerschmid's
& quot;Double O & quot;. & lt;/p & gt;

Not all the selections are exactly ballads - there are several medium-paced numbers, like 'Softly, As in A Morning Sunrise,' where Baker's solo is fascinating, almost abstract. Lackerschmid's open, sustained sound surrounds Chet's warm, breathy delivery for a luminous, shimmering landscape that suits the music perfectly. The impact, however, is not of lyrical impressionism but, if we can imagine it, of a whispered expressionism.

The music is wonderfully evocative, deeply contemplative stuff. More intriguing than new age, more adventurous than 'smooth jazz,' yet less experimental than the out-there fringes of free jazz, Ballads for Two is simply a delight. The pieces all but force the listener to stop whatever he or she is doing and just sit quietly with the music.

Neither man aims for virtuosity or showiness as there was a late night mood to be evoked. That is perhaps why Baker felt so at home in the European jazz scene during the last decade of his life - and led him to collaborate with Lackerschmid on this album and in various live performances. The trumpeter wasn't physically able to wail on his instrument but his melancholic sound cut right to the core of anyone with a soul in their body. Are you that somebody? Dot Time's clean, frills-free reissue of this 1979 release is for you.
