Anouar Brahem Blue Maqams 180g 2LP (Vinyl)
& lt;font color= & quot;#FF0000 & quot; & gt; & lt;b & gt;TAS Super LP List! Special Merit: Informal & lt;/b & gt; & lt;/font & gt; & lt;br & gt; & lt;br & gt; & lt;font color= & quot;#FF0000 & quot; & gt; & lt;b & gt;180g Vinyl Double LP! & lt;/b & gt; & lt;/font & gt; & lt;br & gt; & lt;br & gt; Released for his 60th birthday, Blue Maqams offers many reasons to celebrate. It brings the Tunisian oud master together with three brilliant improvisers: the & quot;Maqams & quot; of the title refers to the Arabic modal music system, rendered kind of blue by the jazz players. Brahem meets Jack DeJohnette and British pianist Django Bates for the first time here. All musicians rise superbly to the challenge of Brahem’s compositions. & lt;br & gt; & lt;br & gt; Anouar Brahem, born in Tunis in 1957, was ten when he began studying the oud at the National Conservatory in the city, and later pursued his apprenticeship with the great master Ali Sriti. As Stephane Ollivier has written: & lt;b & gt; & quot;Brahem is the oud’s conjuror, a master at bringing out the acoustic magic which this age-old traditional Oriental lute carries inside its calabash: the musical heritage of the Arab and Islamic worlds. & quot; & lt;/b & gt; Brahem undertook a mission to restore the oud to the status of an emblematic solo instrument in Arab music, and at the same time expanded the tradition by working with musicians from other idioms. & lt;br & gt; & lt;br & gt; & lt;b & gt;Features: & lt;/b & gt; & lt;br & gt; • Double LP & lt;br & gt; • 180g Vinyl & lt;br & gt; • Limited time download code & lt;br & gt; & lt;br & gt; & lt;b & gt;Musicians: & lt;/b & gt; & lt;br & gt; Anouar Brahem, oud & lt;br & gt; Dave Holland, double bass & lt;br & gt; Jack DeJohnette, drums & lt;br & gt; Django Bates, piano & lt;br & gt; & lt;br & gt; & lt;b & gt;Selections: & lt;br & gt; Side A: & lt;/b & gt; & lt;br & gt; 1. & lt;font color= & quot;#FF0000 & quot; & gt; & lt;b & gt;Double LP! & lt;/b & gt; & lt;/font & gt; & lt;br & gt; & lt;br & gt; Released in 1999, Charles Lloyd's Voice In the Night was both a departure and a homecoming for the Memphis-born and California-based tenor sax player, introducing new music and revisiting archive favorites (including the epic 'Forest Flower'), and featuring an all-star line-up. With his 'Scandinavian' band on hold, this was Lloyd's first all-American album in a long while - Dave Holland qualifies as an honorary American by now - with all the differences of cultural emphasis that this implies. ECM veteran John Abercrombie and legendary drummer Billy Higgins are in great form throughout as they lock in with Lloyd to tackle material ranging from Billy Strayhorn's 'A Flower Is A Lovesome Thing' to the Elvis Costello/Burt Bacharach-penned 'God Give Me Strength' or dig deep into the roots music of the 'Island Blues Suite'. & lt;br & gt; & lt;br & gt; & lt;b & gt;Features: & lt;/b & gt; & lt;br & gt; & amp;bull; Double LP & lt;br & gt; & amp;bull; Gatefold jacket & lt;br & gt; & amp;bull; Made in Germany & lt;br & gt; & lt;br & gt; & lt;b & gt;Musicians: & lt;/b & gt; & lt;br & gt; Charles Lloyd, tenor saxophone & lt;br & gt; John Abercrombie, guitar & lt;br & gt; Dave Holland, double bass & lt;br & gt; Billy Higgins, drums, percussion & lt;br & gt; & lt;br & gt; & lt;b & gt;Selections: & lt;br & gt; Side 1: & lt;/b & gt; & lt;br & gt; 1. Jakob Bro, Arve Henriksen & Jorge Rossy Uma Elmo LP (Vinyl)
& lt;header & gt; & lt;p & gt; & lt;strong & gt;5th Album With ECM On Vinyl LP! & lt;/strong & gt; & lt;/p & gt; & lt;/header & gt; & lt;p & gt;With Uma Elmo, his fifth album as a leader for ECM, Danish guitarist Jakob Bro presents a new trio featuring Norwegian trumpeter Arve Henriksen and Spanish drummer Jorge Rossy. Astonishingly, given the trio's musical synergy, the first time these three musicians ever performed together was for the album's sessions at the Swiss Radio studio in Lugano, with ECM founder Manfred Eicher producing. & lt;/p & gt; & lt;p & gt;Uma Elmo reaffirms the observation about Bro's work by London Jazz News that & quot;there is no hurry to this music, but there is great depth. & quot; Among the album's highlights is opener & quot;Reconstructing a Dream, & quot; a darkly lyrical reverie. & quot;To Stanko & quot; is Bro's hushed tribute to the late, great Polish trumpeter Tomasz Stanko, who featured the guitarist in his quintet for the ECM album Dark Eyes. Another homage to a late elder is & quot;Music for Black Pigeons, & quot; which was given its evocative title by saxophone sage Lee Konitz. & lt;/p & gt; & lt;p & gt;Listeners will recognize Henriksen's whispering, poetic sound from his 2008 ECM album Cartography, as well as his collaborations for the label with Trio Mediaeval and Tigran Hamasyan. Rossy is well known to jazz fans on both sides of the Atlantic, particularly for his decade-plus tenure in Brad Mehldau's career-making first trio. As for the leader, DownBeat aptly noted in its review of his previous ECM album, Bay of Rainbows, that & quot;Bro's guitar is luminous... his music both hypnotic and dramatic. & quot; & lt;/p & gt; & lt;section id= & quot;features & quot; & gt; & lt;h3 & gt;Features & lt;/h3 & gt; & lt;ul & gt; & lt;li & gt;Vinyl LP & lt;/li & gt; & lt;li & gt;Made in Germany & lt;/li & gt; & lt;/ul & gt; & lt;/section & gt; & lt;section id= & quot;musicians & quot; & gt; & lt;h3 & gt;Musicians & lt;/h3 & gt; & lt;table & gt; & lt;tr & gt; & lt;th & gt;Jakob Bro & lt;/th & gt; & lt;td & gt;guitar & lt;/td & gt; & lt;/tr & gt; & lt;tr & gt; & lt;th & gt;Arve Henriksen & lt;/th & gt; & lt;td & gt;trumpets & lt;/td & gt; & lt;/tr & gt; & lt;tr & gt; & lt;th & gt;Jorge Rossy & lt;/th & gt; & lt;td & gt;drums & lt;/td & gt; & lt;/tr & gt; & lt;/table & gt; & lt;/section & gt; & lt;section id= & quot;selections & quot; & gt; & lt;h3 & gt;Selections & lt;/h3 & gt; & lt;h4 & gt;Side 1: & lt;/h4 & gt; & lt;ol & gt; & lt;li & gt;Reconstructing A Dream & lt;/li & gt; & lt;li & gt;To Stanko & lt;/li & gt; & lt;li & gt;Beautiful Day & lt;/li & gt; & lt;li & gt;Music For Black Pigeons - In memory of Lee Konitz & lt;/li & gt; & lt;/ol & gt; & lt;h4 & gt;Side 2: & lt;/h4 & gt; & lt;ol & gt; & lt;li & gt;Housework & lt;/li & gt; & lt;li & gt;Sound Flower & lt;/li & gt; & lt;li & gt;Slaraffenland & lt;/li & gt; & lt;li & gt;Morning Song & lt;/li & gt; & lt;/ol & gt; & lt;/section & gt;

Chick Corea & Gary Burton Crystal Silence 180g LP (Vinyl)
& lt;font color= & quot;#FF0000 & quot; & gt; & lt;b & gt;180g Vinyl LP Reissue! & lt;/b & gt; & lt;/font & gt; & lt;br & gt; & lt;br & gt; The Corea/Burton duo was brought together by producer Manfred Eicher, and Crystal Silence brought a new chamber music sensibility into jazz improvisation, distinguished by an effervescence of melody and countermelody, with synchronized cascades of sound in continually changing harmonic movement. & lt;br & gt; & lt;br & gt; It all begins here, with Crystal Silence. The title says it all: silence crystallized into dazzling melodic gems, each its own prismatic doorway into improvisatory translucence. Corea offers a fine set of five compositions (the most notable being the slick opener & quot;Señor Mouse & quot;), along with three beautifully realized tunes by bassist Steve Swallow ( & quot;Arise, Her Eyes & quot; being a personal favorite), and another by Mike Gibbs (the somber & quot;Feelings And Things & quot;). In spite of the variety of voices represented here, the album grows like one long, extended story, a dynamic that seems to shadow the musicians wherever they set foot. & lt;br & gt; & lt;br & gt; The title track is a subdued tour de force in style, presentation, and content. & quot;Falling Grace & quot; (Swallow) is one of the shorter pieces on tap, but what it lacks in time it makes up for in exhilaration. The album ends with an instrumental version of another Return classic, & quot;What Game Shall We Play Today. & quot; Each piece is rendered with such dynamic sensitivity that one can immediately recognize the effect Crystal Silence must have had when originally released, and no doubt continues to have to this day. Connected as they are by the same mellow fuse, these tunes need hardly a spark to set them to glowing. & lt;br & gt; & lt;br & gt; & lt;b & gt;Features: & lt;/b & gt; & lt;br & gt; • 180g Vinyl LP & lt;br & gt; • Audiophile High Quality Pressing & lt;br & gt; • From The Original Analog Tapes & lt;br & gt; • Limited Time Download Code & lt;br & gt; • Printed in W. & lt;header & gt; & lt;p & gt; & lt;strong & gt;Extended Anniversary Edition Double LP! & lt;/strong & gt; & lt;/p & gt; & lt;p & gt; & lt;strong & gt;TAS Rated 4/5 Music, 5/5 Sonics in the April 2020 Issue of The Absolute Sound! & lt;/strong & gt; & lt;/p & gt; & lt;/header & gt; & lt;p & gt;Revisited and remastered, with additional takes, texts and photos, here is the very first ECM session, recorded in November 1969, featuring the great American pianist Mal Waldron, whose resume included work with Coltrane, Mingus, Dolphy and Billie Holiday. As Jazz Journal noted, & quot;the music sounds as fresh now as the day it was recorded & quot;. Indeed, the tersely-grooving & quot;Boo & quot; and & quot;Rock My Soul & quot; could be club hits half a century later. This Extended Anniversary Edition is issued as an audiophile vinyl double LP. & lt;/p & gt; & lt;p & gt; & lt;strong & gt; & quot;...Waldron would experience enormous personal upheavals between 1963 and the 1969 session that produced & lt;i & gt;Free at Last & lt;/i & gt;, but his style never really changed. And though he called this his first foray into free jazz, it sounds very & quot;inside & quot; for the most part, leaning almost as heavily on repetition as & quot;new Age & quot; musicians would, but retaining the driving swing and rich, bluesy harmonic vocabulary of the hard boppers. ECM has released a 50th anniversary expanded edition of this, its first release, and the 2LP...set looks and sounds beautiful. There is not that much added material, but it's great to see this classic record given such deluxe repackaging. & quot; & lt;/strong & gt; - Duck Baker, & lt;i & gt;The Absolute Sound & lt;/i & gt;, July/August 2020 & lt;/p & gt; & lt;blockquote cite= & quot;www.pastemagazine.com & quot; & gt; This double LP reissue, which sounds absolutely smashing on this new pressing, comes with a bonus LP of alternate takes of tracks from the session as well as an even longer and more luminous version of 'Willow Weep For Me' that is [a] further showcase for Waldron's gentle way with this melody and how he bent it at the corners and edges. & lt;footer & gt; -Robert Ham, Paste Magazine & lt;/footer & gt; & lt;/blockquote & gt; & lt;section id= & quot;features & quot; & gt; & lt;h3 & gt;Features & lt;/h3 & gt; & lt;ul & gt; & lt;li & gt;Extended Anniversary Edition & lt;/li & gt; & lt;li & gt;Double LP & lt;/li & gt; & lt;li & gt;Gatefold jacket & lt;/li & gt; & lt;Made in Germany & lt;/li & gt; & lt;/ul & gt; & lt;/section & gt; & lt;section id= & quot;musicians & quot; & gt; & lt;h3 & gt;Musicians & lt;/h3 & gt; & lt;table & gt; & lt;tr & gt; & lt;th & gt;Mal Waldron, & lt;/th & gt; & lt;td & gt;piano & lt;/td & gt; & lt;/tr & gt; & lt;tr & gt; & lt;th & gt;Isla Eckinger & lt;/th & gt; & lt;td & gt;bass & lt;/td & gt; & lt;/tr & gt; & lt;tr & gt; & lt;th & gt;Clarence Becton & lt;/th & gt; & lt;td & gt;drums & lt;/td & gt; & lt;/tr & gt; & lt;!--More musician rows go here-- & gt; & lt;/table & gt; & lt;/section & gt; & lt;section id= & quot;selections & quot; & gt; & lt;h3 & gt;Selections & lt;/h3 & gt; & lt;h4 & gt;Side I: & lt;/h4 & gt; & lt;ol & gt; & lt;li & gt;Rat Now & lt;/li & gt; & lt;li & gt;Balladina & lt;/li & gt; & lt;li & gt;1-3-234 & lt;/li & gt; & lt;!--More tracks go here in & lt;li & gt; tags-- & gt; & lt;/ol & gt; & lt;h4 & gt;Side II: & lt;/h4 & gt; & lt;ol start= & quot;4 & quot; & gt; & lt;li & gt;Rock My Soul & lt;/li & gt; & lt;li & gt;Willow Weep For Me & lt;/li & gt; & lt;li & gt;Boo & lt;/li & gt; & lt;/ol & gt; & lt;h4 & gt;Side III: & lt;/h4 & gt; & lt;ol & gt; & lt;li & gt;1-3-234 [Var.] & lt;/li & gt; & lt;li & gt;Balladina [Var.] & lt;/li & gt; & lt;/ol & gt; & lt;h4 & gt;Side IV: & lt;/h4 & gt; & lt;ol start= & quot;3 & quot; & gt; & lt;li & gt;Boo [Var.] & lt;/li & gt; & lt;li & gt;Willow Weep For Me [Long Version] & lt;/li & gt; & lt;/ol & gt; & lt;/section & gt; & lt;p & gt;Recorded November 24, 1969 at Tonstudio Bauer, Ludwigsburg & lt;/p & gt;

Keith Jarrett & Charlie Haden Last Dance 180g 2LP (Vinyl)
& lt;font color= & quot;#FF0000 & quot; & gt; & lt;b & gt;180g Vinyl Double LP Reissue! & lt;/b & gt; & lt;/font & gt; & lt;br & gt; & lt;br & gt; Last dance is a 2014 joint album by American pianist and composer Keith Jarrett and American jazz double bass player Charlie Haden, known for their long collaboration from the 1960s onward. The duo had a joint album Jasmine in 2010. & lt;br & gt; & lt;br & gt; Keith Jarrett and Charlie Haden broaden the scope of their duo project to showcase jazz classics like Thelonious Monk’s “Round Midnight” and Bud Powell’s spritely “Dance Of The Infidels.” Love songs, however, are to the fore in this selection, with tender versions of “My Old Flame,” “My Ship,” “It Might As Well Be Spring,” “Everything Happens To Me,” and “Every Time We Say Goodbye” as well as alternate takes of “Where Can I Go Without You” and “Goodbye,” every bit as touching as the Jasmine renditions. & lt;br & gt; & lt;br & gt; & lt;b & gt;“When we play together it’s like two people singing,” & lt;/b & gt; said Jarrett of his reunion with Haden. The intentions of the songs are honored, the shades of meaning in a melody or a lyric explored instrumentally. As Charlie Haden put it, & lt;b & gt;“Keith really listens, and I listen. That’s the secret. It’s about listening.” & lt;/b & gt; The music of Last Dance was recorded at Keith Jarrett’s home studio. & lt;br & gt; & lt;br & gt; & lt;b & gt; & quot;They don't overstate anything; the music provides meaning all on its own. They relax into its beauty playing toward one another as hints, suggestions, and references to popular music history bridge the space between. Last Dance is a necessary addendum to Jasmine; it fleshes out the confident, mature, amiable, and eloquent speech in the canonical language these two jazz masters share. & quot; & lt;/b & gt; -Thom Jurek, allmusic.com & lt;br & gt; & lt;br & gt; & lt;b & gt;Features: & lt;/b & gt; & lt;br & gt; • 180g Audiophile High Quality Pressing & lt;br & gt; • Double LP & lt;br & gt; • Gatefold Jacket & lt;br & gt; & lt;br & gt; & lt;b & gt;Musicians: & lt;/b & gt; & lt;br & gt; Keith Jarrett, piano & lt;br & gt; Charlie Haden, double bass & lt;br & gt; & lt;br & gt; & lt;b & gt;Selections: & lt;/b & gt; & lt;br & gt; 1. Chick Corea Return To Forever 180g LP (Vinyl)
& lt;font color= & quot;#FF0000 & quot; & gt; & lt;b & gt;180g Vinyl LP Reissue! & lt;br & gt; & lt;/b & gt; & lt;/font & gt; & lt;br & gt; & quot;The legendary first lineup of Chick Corea's fusion band Return to Forever debuted on this classic album (titled after the group but credited to Corea), featuring Joe Farrell on soprano sax and flute, the Brazilian team of vocalist Flora Purim and drummer/percussionist Airto Moreira, and electric bass whiz Stanley Clarke. It wasn't actually released in the U.S. until 1975, which was why the group's second album, Light as a Feather, initially made the Return to Forever name. Nonetheless, Return to Forever is every bit as classic, using a similar blend of spacy electric-piano fusion and Brazilian and Latin rhythms. It's all very warm, light, and airy, like a soft breeze on a tropical beach -- hardly the sort of firebrand approach to fusion that Miles Davis, Tony Williams, and the Mahavishnu Orchestra were exploring, and far less rooted in funk or rock. Corea also bathes the album in an undertone of trippy mysticism, not only in the (admittedly dated) lyrics, but in his cosmic keyboard wanderings, which remain melodic and accessible through most of the record. There's one genuine pop song in the groovy samba & quot;What Game Shall We Play Today, & quot; and while & quot;Sometime Ago & quot; has similar elements, it's part of an ambitious side-long medley that features a stream-of-consciousness intro and a jubilant, Spanish/Mexican-style closing section called & quot;La Fiesta, & quot; complete with castanets and flamenco modes. The title track is another multi-sectioned work, featuring Corea and Purim in wordless unison on two different, catchy themes, plus breezy work from Farrell and lots of Brazilian-flavored rhythmic interplay. And the dreamy, meditative & quot;Crystal Silence & quot; is an underrated gem waiting to be rediscovered. Certainly, this edition of Return to Forever wasn't inclined toward high-voltage jazz-rock (as the next one was), but this group's two albums still stand as some of the most imaginative and distinctive early fusion recordings. & quot; - Allmusic.com & lt;br & gt; & lt;br & gt; & lt;b & gt;Musicians: & lt;/b & gt; & lt;br & gt; Chick Corea, electric piano & lt;br & gt; Flora Purim, vocal/percussion & lt;br & gt; Airto Moreira, drums/percussion & lt;br & gt; Joe Farrell, flutes/soprano sax & lt;br & gt; Stan Clarke, elec bass/double bass & lt;br & gt; & lt;br & gt; & lt;b & gt;Features: & lt;/b & gt; & lt;br & gt; • 180g Vinyl LP & lt;br & gt; • Audiophile High Quality Pressing & lt;br & gt; & lt;br & gt; & lt;b & gt;Selections: & lt;br & gt; Side 1 & lt;/b & gt; & lt;br & gt; 1. Remastered From Original Analog Master Tapes! & lt;/font & gt; & lt;/b & gt; & lt;br & gt; & lt;br & gt; Originally released in 1977, the classic Danca das Cabecas is now re-issued on high quality 180g vinyl. This album was recorded in November 1976 at Talent Studio, Oslo. & lt;br & gt; & lt;br & gt; & lt;b & gt; & quot;Gismonti and Vasconcelos might be Brazilian but you don’t need a passport to enter their musical world. Once inside, they guide you gently, and the trip is rarely less than revelatory. If you have an interest in music then Gismonti will floor you with the devastating purity and endless depth of his sound. Without doubt, this is one of the albums of the year. & quot; & lt;/b & gt; – Melody Maker & lt;br & gt; & lt;br & gt; & lt;b & gt; & quot;The first side of the record acts like an extended suite, with the beginning and closing songs evoking a rain forest. Between those tracks Gismonti (eight-string guitar) and Vasconcelos (percussion) take an exhilarating musical journey where both musicians keep pushing each other to new heights. The passion, energy, and full, rich sound of Side A make for absorbing listening. On Side B things slow down at first, with Gismonti's mostly introspective solo piano performances taking the record in a different direction. Later, when Vasconcelos again joins Gismonti, it's like two friends reuniting. & quot; & lt;/b & gt; - Jeff Wilson, & lt;i & gt;The Absolute Sound & lt;/i & gt;, Rated 5/5 Music, 4/5 Sonics & lt;br & gt; & lt;br & gt; & lt;b & gt;Features: & lt;/b & gt; & lt;br & gt; • 180g Vinyl & lt;br & gt; • Limited time download code & lt;br & gt; • Remastered from Original Analog Master Tapes & lt;br & gt; • Made in Germany & lt;br & gt; & lt;br & gt; & lt;b & gt;Musicians: & lt;/b & gt; & lt;br & gt; Egberto Gismonti, 8-string guitar, wood flutes, piano, vocals & lt;br & gt; Nana Vasconcelos, percussion, beriumbau, corpo, vocals & lt;br & gt; & lt;br & gt; & lt;b & gt;Selections: & lt;br & gt; Side 1: & lt;/b & gt; & lt;br & gt; 1. Peacock is sublime and the perpetual motion of DeJohnette's drumming maintains a superb tension. The broad toned Stanko skirts the niceties and finds something of consequence to say every time he walks to the wicket but, surprisingly, it is Garbarek's many solid innings that are the backbone of the whole thing. & quot; & lt;/b & gt; – Jazz Journal & lt;br & gt; & lt;br & gt; & lt;b & gt;Features: & lt;/b & gt; & lt;br & gt; • 180g Vinyl & lt;br & gt; • Limited time download code & lt;br & gt; • Remastered from Original Analog Master Tapes & lt;br & gt; • Made in Germany & lt;br & gt; & lt;br & gt; & lt;b & gt;Musicians: & lt;/b & gt; & lt;br & gt; Gary Peacock, bass & lt;br & gt; Jan Garbarek, tenor saxophone, soprano saxophone & lt;br & gt; Tomasz Stanko, trumpet & lt;br & gt; Jack DeJohnette, drums & lt;br & gt; & lt;br & gt; & lt;b & gt;Selections: & lt;br & gt; Side 1: & lt;/b & gt; & lt;br & gt; 1. John was a 20-year-old student at Berklee when he first met and played with the bassist, and they have continued ever since. & lt;/p & gt; & lt;p & gt; & lt;strong & gt; & quot;I love these songs, & quot; & lt;/strong & gt; says Scofield of the selection of Swallow compositions explored here - a broad range including classics such as & quot;Hullo Bolinas & quot;, & quot;Eiderdown & quot;, & quot;Falling Grace & quot; and & quot;Radio & quot;, as well as lesser-known works. The rapport between Scofield and Swallow is evident in every moment. & lt;strong & gt; & quot;Sometimes when we play it's like one big guitar, the bass part and my part together, & quot; & lt;/strong & gt; Scofield explains. & lt;/p & gt; & lt;p & gt;Behind the drum kit, Bill Stewart, a close associate of Scofield's since the early '90s, is alert to all the implications of the interaction. & lt;strong & gt; & quot;What Bill does is more than 'playing the drums', & quot; & lt;/strong & gt; Scofield says. & lt;strong & gt; & quot;He's a melodic voice in the music, while also swinging really hard. & quot; & lt;/strong & gt; & lt;/p & gt; & lt;blockquote cite= & quot;quote source & quot; & gt; As an example of modern jazz guitar playing, this is one of Scofield's finest efforts. & lt;footer & gt; -Bill Milkowski, The Absolute Sound, September 2020, Music 4.5/5, Sonics 4.5/5 & lt;/footer & gt; & lt;/blockquote & gt; & lt;blockquote cite= & quot;quote source & quot; & gt; The trio expresses intimacy, empathy, and simmer available only to like-minded souls of long and comfortable acquaintance. The trio dissects the itchy twists and turns on the winding 'Falling Grace,' practically a jazz standard. Bill Stewart maneuvers 'Portsmouth Figurations' like a rhythmic beast, leavening Sco and Swallow's wiry melodies with jabs, stabs, and face slaps. Even when this trio rages, it's cozy and chatty, like a bar fight in a library. The 3/4 'Awful Coffee' begins flirtatious, only lifting its skirt during Sco's sticky, bridge-swiping solo. 'Eiderdown' rips it up fast and furious; the intro of 'In F' is all glancing blows settling into straight-ahead surety; 'Radio' exudes friendly, country music comfort. The sound, by Manfred Eicher and Tyler McDiarmid, is classic ECM, intimate and reverberant. Scofield has recorded dozens of albums since the early 1980s. He reinvents himself every time. & lt;footer & gt; -Ken Micallef, Stereophile, September 2020 & lt;/footer & gt; & lt;/blockquote & gt; & lt;section id= & quot;features & quot; & gt; & lt;h3 & gt;Features & lt;/h3 & gt; & lt;ul & gt; & lt;li & gt;Vinyl LP & lt;/li & gt; & lt;li & gt;Made in Germany & lt;/li & gt; & lt;/ul & gt; & lt;/section & gt; & lt;section id= & quot;musicians & quot; & gt; & lt;h3 & gt;Musicians & lt;/h3 & gt; & lt;table & gt; & lt;tr & gt; & lt;th & gt;John Scofield & lt;/th & gt; & lt;td & gt;guitar & lt;/td & gt; & lt;tr & gt; & lt;th & gt;Steve Swallow & lt;/th & gt; & lt;td & gt;bass & lt;/td & gt; & lt;/tr & gt; & lt;tr & gt; & lt;th & gt;Bill Stewart & lt;/th & gt; & lt;td & gt;drums & lt;/td & gt; & lt;/tr & gt; & lt;/table & gt; & lt;/section & gt; & lt;section id= & quot;selections & quot; & gt; & lt;h3 & gt;Selections & lt;/h3 & gt; & lt;h4 & gt;Side 1: & lt;/h4 & gt; & lt;ol & gt; & lt;li & gt;She Was Young & lt;/li & gt; & lt;li & gt;Falling Grace & lt;/li & gt; & lt;li & gt;Portsmouth Figurations & lt;/li & gt; & lt;li & gt;Awful Coffee & lt;/li & gt; & lt;/ol & gt; & lt;h4 & gt;Side 2: & lt;/h4 & gt; & lt;ol & gt; & lt;li & gt;Eiderdown & lt;/li & gt; & lt;li & gt;Hullo Bolinas & lt;/li & gt; & lt;li & gt;Away & lt;/li & gt; & lt;li & gt;In F & lt;/li & gt; & lt;li & gt;Radio & lt;/li & gt; & lt;/ol & gt; & lt;/section & gt;

Jakob Bro, Thomas Morgan, Jon Christensen Gefion LP (Vinyl)
& lt;font color= & quot;#FF0000 & quot; & gt; & lt;b & gt;High Quality Vinyl LP! & lt;/b & gt; & lt;/font & gt; & lt;br & gt; & lt;br & gt; Gefion is Danish guitarist Jakob Bro’s first ECM album as leader, following recordings for the label as sideman with Paul Motian and Tomasz Stanko. Like the work of those masters, Bro’s balladeering distils a sense of jazz history in its specific and highly personal atmospheres. The open forms of Bro’s compositions leave plenty of space for his companions – drum legend Jon Christensen and creative bassist-of-the-moment Thomas Morgan - to make their statements, interactively and in parallel. & lt;br & gt; & lt;br & gt; And there is space too for the listener’s imagination to follow the flow and the delicate melodic tracery of Bro’s electric guitar in this thoughtful and poetic album. Gefion was recorded in Oslo’s Rainbow Studio in November 2013 and produced by Manfred Eicher. & lt;br & gt; & lt;br & gt; & lt;b & gt; & quot;Here it is Morgan who plays both a lyric center as well as a more insistent -- yet still sparse -- harmonic foil. Listen to the long, quietly unfolding title track for evidence. Add to this Christensen's unhurried, texturally contrasting cymbal work, which never centers but moves behind and in front of & quot;the beat & quot; to underscore the interactions between his partners and extend them with his own sense of lyricism...Gefion is quiet; it never insists. The listeners' attention can be focused on the intersection of sounds and spaces because what emerges in the end is remarkable for all of its deliberate restraint. & quot; & lt;/b & gt; -Thom Jurek, allmusic.com & lt;br & gt; & lt;br & gt; & lt;b & gt;Features: & lt;/b & gt; & lt;br & gt; • High Quality Pressing & lt;br & gt; • Free MP3 download code included & lt;br & gt; & lt;br & gt; & lt;b & gt;Musicians: & lt;/b & gt; & lt;br & gt; Jakob Bro, guitar & lt;br & gt; Thomas Morgan, double bass & lt;br & gt; Jon Christensen, drums & lt;br & gt; & lt;br & gt; & lt;b & gt;Selections: & lt;br & gt; Side One: & lt;/b & gt; & lt;br & gt; 1. The pieces are culled from Frisell's beloved Americana songbook together with the duo's poetic interpretations of pieces by Paul Motian, Billy Strayhorn, Thelonious Monk and another James Bond film theme... & lt;br & gt; & lt;br & gt; & lt;b & gt; & quot;Since reintroducing vinyl earlier this decade, ECM has reissued older titles and committed some new releases to wax. Ideally the vinyl options would include some of the best new music ECM has to offer, and I don't know if you could do much better than Epistrophy. Recorded during he same March 2016 Village Vanguard performances that produced 2017's Small Town, these duets again match the ethereal sounds of Bill Frisell on electric guitar with the deep, woody tone and impeccable timing of Thomas Morgan on double bass. Since his first recordings in the early 1980s, Frisell has been a harmonically inventive jazz musician who loves to take risks, yet he always manages to wring out the sweetness and charm in old pop tunes and Americana, exuding warmth without waxing sentimental. While listening to Billy Strayhorn's & quot;Lush Life & quot; and two Monk tunes (the title track and & quot;Pannonica & quot;), you may wonder how often those compositions have been performed in the Vanguard and marvel at how fresh they remain. And during John Barry's & quot;You Only Live Twice & quot;, you may wonder how the duo manages to evoke the epic sweep of the original with only two instruments. Just brilliant. & quot; & lt;/b & gt; - Jeff Wilson, & lt;i & gt;The Absolute Sound & lt;/i & gt;, October 2019 & lt;br & gt; & lt;br & gt; & lt;b & gt;Features: & lt;/b & gt; & lt;br & gt; & amp;bull; Double LP & lt;br & gt; & amp;bull; Gatefold jacket & lt;br & gt; & amp;bull; Made in Germany & lt;br & gt; & lt;br & gt; & lt;b & gt;Musicians: & lt;/b & gt; & lt;br & gt; Bill Frisell, guitar & lt;br & gt; Thomas Morgan, double bass & lt;br & gt; & lt;br & gt; & lt;b & gt;Selections: & lt;br & gt; Side 1: & lt;/b & gt; & lt;br & gt; 1. & lt;font color= & quot;#FF0000 & quot; & gt; & lt;b & gt;180g Vinyl LP Reissue! & lt;/b & gt; & lt;/font & gt; & lt;br & gt; & lt;br & gt; Featuring a lineup of musicians who would go on to weave ECM’s significance into the fabric of time, Solstice is a tour de force of musicianship, writing, arrangement, and recording. & lt;br & gt; & lt;br & gt; Each track is brimming with life and features the sensitive application of a variety of instrumental combinations and studio savvy. “Oceanus” showcases Garbarek in his prime, soaring with an unbridled emotional register. As always, Towner’s 12-string speaks in 360 degrees. Superb drumming from Christensen complements lush melodic lines from Weber, who stretches a melodic cello into infinity while his bass arises like the conical aftereffect of a water droplet. “Visitation” clouds this ardor in a nocturnal vision filled with laughing spirits. “Drifting Petals” is a slow progression, a timid look out onto a dusty plain where the promise of freedom looms larger than the possibility of danger. But then an elder’s advice rings in our ears and pushes us onward. Feet move of their volition and pull us into the ever-receding horizon as the first drops of a squall streak across our foreheads. Towner proves again that his piano musings are not to be taken lightly, as they make for one of the most evocative tracks on the album. A transcendental 12-string solo (with gentle dimensional support from Weber) opens “Nimbus,” soon blossoming into a flourish of flutes, drums, and a bowed bass that cries with the grating fluidity of a sarangi. Garbarek’s sax joins in the fray and lets loose its harmonious fire. The deftly overdubbed flutes return, spreading their wings for a few moments before fluttering off into the distance. “Winter Solstice,” “Piscean Dance,” and “Red and Black” comprise a triptych of duets: the first for classical guitar and sax, the second a prime jam for 12-string and drums, and the third for 12-string and bass. “Sand” ends our cosmic journey with one of Garbarek’s deepest meditations for sax set to the strangely compelling ululations of Christensen’s flexatone lolling about in the background. & lt;br & gt; & lt;br & gt; Melodically robust while structurally yielding, this is an album to be treasured and is a must-listen for anyone desiring to know what ECM is all about. An astounding meeting of musical minds if there ever was one. & lt;br & gt; & lt;br & gt; & lt;b & gt;Features: & lt;/b & gt; & lt;br & gt; • 180g Vinyl LP & lt;br & gt; • Audiophile High Quality Pressing & lt;br & gt; • From The Original Analog Tapes & lt;br & gt; • Limited Time Download Code & lt;br & gt; • Printed in Germany & lt;br & gt; & lt;br & gt; & lt;b & gt;Musicians: & lt;/b & gt; & lt;br & gt; Ralph Towner, 12-string and classical guitars, piano & lt;br & gt; Jan Garbarek, tenor and soprano saxophones, flute & lt;br & gt; Eberhard Weber, bass, cello & lt;br & gt; Jon Christensen, drums, percussion & lt;br & gt; & lt;br & gt; & lt;b & gt;Selections: & lt;br & gt; Side I: & lt;/b & gt; & lt;br & gt; 1. & lt;header & gt; & lt;p & gt; & lt;strong & gt;Jazz Trio On Vinyl LP! & lt;/strong & gt; & lt;/p & gt; & lt;/header & gt; & lt;p & gt;Wolfgang Muthspiel, whom The New Yorker has called & lt;strong & gt; & quot;a shining light & quot; & lt;/strong & gt; among today's jazz guitarists, returns to the trio format with Angular Blues, the Austrian's fourth ECM album as a leader, following two acclaimed quintet releases and his trio debut. Like Driftwood - the 2014 trio disc that JazzTimes dubbed & lt;strong & gt; & quot;cinematic & quot; & lt;/strong & gt; and & lt;strong & gt; & quot;haunting & quot; & lt;/strong & gt; - Angular Blues finds Muthspiel paired with longtime collaborator Brian Blade on drums; but instead of Larry Grenadier on bass, it's Scott Colley, whose especially earthy sound helps give this trio its own dynamic. Muthspiel alternates between acoustic and electric guitar and, along with his characteristically melodic originals - including such highlights as the bucolic & quot;H & amp;#252;ttengriffe & quot; and pensive & quot;Camino & quot; - he essays the first standards of his ECM tenure ( & quot;Everything I Love & quot; and & quot;I'll Remember April & quot;), as well as his first-ever bebop rhythm-changes tune on record ( & quot;Ride & quot;). Angular Blues also features a single guitar-only track, & quot;Solo Kanon in 5/4, & quot; with Muthspiel's electronic delay imbuing the baroque-like rounds with a hypnotic glow. & lt;/p & gt; & lt;section id= & quot;features & quot; & gt; & lt;h3 & gt;Features & lt;/h3 & gt; & lt;ul & gt; & lt;li & gt;Vinyl LP & lt;/li & gt; & lt;li & gt;Made in Germany & lt;/li & gt; & lt;/ul & gt; & lt;/section & gt; & lt;section id= & quot;musicians & quot; & gt; & lt;h3 & gt;Musicians & lt;/h3 & gt; & lt;table & gt; & lt;tr & gt; & lt;th & gt;Wolfgang Muthspiel, & lt;/th & gt; & lt;td & gt;guitar & lt;/td & gt; & lt;/tr & gt; & lt;tr & gt; & lt;th & gt;Scott Colley & lt;/th & gt; & lt;td & gt;double bass & lt;/td & gt; & lt;/tr & gt; & lt;tr & gt; & lt;th & gt;Brian Blade & lt;/th & gt; & lt;td & gt;drums & lt;/td & gt; & lt;/tr & gt; & lt;/table & gt; & lt;/section & gt; & lt;section id= & quot;selections & quot; & gt; & lt;h3 & gt;Selections & lt;/h3 & gt; & lt;h4 & gt;Side 1: & lt;/h4 & gt; & lt;ol & gt; & lt;li & gt;Wondering & lt;/li & gt; & lt;li & gt;Angular Blues & lt;/li & gt; & lt;li & gt;Huttengriffe & lt;/li & gt; & lt;li & gt;Camino & lt;/li & gt; & lt;/ol & gt; & lt;h4 & gt;Side 2: & lt;/h4 & gt; & lt;ol & gt; & lt;li & gt;Ride & lt;/li & gt; & lt;li & gt;Everything I Love & lt;/li & gt; & lt;li & gt;Kanon In 6/8 & lt;/li & gt; & lt;li & gt;Solo Kanon In 5/4 & lt;/li & gt; & lt;li & gt;I'll Remember April & lt;/li & gt; & lt;/ol & gt; & lt;/section & gt;

Pat Metheny Group Travels 180g 2LP (Vinyl)
& lt;font color= & quot;#FF0000 & quot; & gt; & lt;b & gt;180g Vinyl Double LP Reissue! & lt;/b & gt; & lt;/font & gt; & lt;br & gt; & lt;br & gt; Originally released in 1983, Travels is the Pat Metheny Group's first live album recorded during several 1982 concerts. For this collection of jazz music, guitarist Metheny's group consists of Lyle Mays on keyboards, drummer Dan Gottlieb, bassist Steve Rodby, and Nana Vasconcelos on percussion and vocals. Travels earned the 1983 Grammy for Best Jazz Fusion Performance. & lt;br & gt; & lt;br & gt; Recorded less than a year after the magnificent ‘Offramp,' Travels is proof that the PMG were on a creative high. Music was pouring from Metheny and Mays. Extraordinarily for a live album, over half the tracks were entirely new and have not been heard, before or since, on any studio album. Pat said in an interview soon after this album’s release that he preferred this version of ‘Are You Going With Me?’ to the ‘Offramp’ original. Both have their merits. Both are brilliant. & lt;br & gt; & lt;br & gt; Here are two delightfully simple tunes on this album – ‘Farmer’s Trust’ and ‘Travels’ – which are gorgeously executed duets by Metheny and Mays, with the rest of the band in the background. They are almost love poems, a high point in the musical understanding between Mays and Metheny. It’s almost impossible for any artist to create two masterpieces in succession, but the PMG achieved this with ‘Offramp’ and ‘Travels’. & lt;br & gt; & lt;br & gt; & lt;b & gt; & quot;If you liked the popular Offramp, you'll fall for Travels, too... & quot; & lt;/b & gt; -Richard S. David Virelles Gnosis 180g 2LP (Vinyl)
& lt;font color= & quot;#FF0000 & quot; & gt; & lt;b & gt;180g Vinyl Double LP! & lt;/b & gt; & lt;/font & gt; & lt;br & gt; & lt;br & gt; In this vivid and exciting project, the Santiago-raised and New York-based pianist-composer David Virelles looks towards one melting pot from the vantage point of another. A far-reaching work with deep cultural roots, Gnosis speaks of transculturation and traditions, and of the complex tapestry of Cuba’s music – the sacred, the secular, and the ritualistic – but the work’s shapes and forms could only have been created by a gifted contemporary player thoroughly versed in the art of the improvisers. Strings, woodwinds and percussion all have their roles to play in Gnosis, viewed by Virelles as & quot;several families functioning within one unit: this dynamic symbolizes multicultural interaction. & quot; Virelles' responsive piano and the vocals and percussion of Román Díaz, a profound figure in the transmission of Afro-Cuban musical history, are at the centre of the action. Gnosis was recorded at New York’s Avatar Studios in May 2016 and produced by Manfred Eicher. & lt;br & gt; & lt;br & gt; & lt;b & gt; & quot;The pianist David Virelles came to New York via Santiago de Cuba and Toronto. Along the way his vocation as a musician has unfolded in dramatic fashion – so dramatic, in fact, some might say use the word “miraculous”; although “supernatural-existentialist” might be more appropriate, given the results of Gnosis, his 2017 recording on ECM. It is not so curious a phenomenon, considering, firstly: the fact that Mr Virelles is of Afro-Cuban descent and secondly: that he is under the spell – so to speak – of one of the high-priests (literally) of the Lucumi practice, Román Díaz. Anyone who leaps out of this backdrop is guaranteed to have a heady brew coursing through his veins. Gnosis proves this quite beyond doubt. & quot; & lt;/b & gt; - Raul da Gama, & lt;i & gt;jazzdagama.com & lt;/i & gt;, September 4, 2017 & lt;br & gt; & lt;br & gt; & lt;b & gt;Features: & lt;/b & gt; & lt;br & gt; • 180g Vinyl & lt;br & gt; • Double LP & lt;br & gt; • Gatefold jacket & lt;br & gt; • Limited time download code & lt;br & gt; & lt;br & gt; & lt;b & gt;Musicians: & lt;/b & gt; & lt;br & gt; David Virelles, piano, marimbula, background vocals & lt;br & gt; Roman Diaz, lead vocals, percussion (bonko enchemiya, ekon, nkomos, erikundi, itones, nkanika, marimbula, claves, mayohuacan, pilon, carapacho de jicotea, coconut shells) & lt;br & gt; Allison Loggins-Hull, flute, piccolo & lt;br & gt; Rane Moore, clarinet, bass clarinet & lt;br & gt; Adam Cruz, steel pan, claves & lt;br & gt; Alex Lipowski, orchestral bass drum, temple blocks, bongos, gong & lt;br & gt; Matthew Gold, marimba, glockenspiel & lt;br & gt; Mauricio Herrera, ekon, nkomos, erikundi, claves, background vocals & lt;br & gt; Thomas Morgan, double bass & lt;br & gt; Yunior Lopez, viola & lt;br & gt; Christine Chen, violoncello & lt;br & gt; Samuel DeCaprio, violoncello & lt;br & gt; Melvis Santa, background vocals & lt;br & gt; & lt;br & gt; & lt;b & gt;Selections: & lt;br & gt; Side A: & lt;/b & gt; & lt;br & gt; 1. Björn Meyer, Swedish-born and Swiss-based, has shaped a unique voice for his instrument inside the most diverse contexts, working alongside Persian harpist and singer Asita Hamidi, Swedish nyckelharpa player Johan Hedin, and Tunisian oud master Anouar Brahem. For a decade he was a member of Nik Bärtsch’s Ronin, in which his bass guitar was frequently the lead instrument. His solo work is concerned with the experience of sound in acoustic spaces: & quot;Even though the instrument is technically non-acoustic, the music is deeply influenced by the properties of the space where it is played. The many different ways in which acoustics affect my compositions and improvisations have always been sources of surprise and inspiration. There is definitely a second member in this solo project – the room! & quot; The participating room on Provenance is the highly responsive Auditorio Stello Molo RSI in Lugano, its rich acoustics helping to bring out all the fine detail in Meyer’s subtle playing. & lt;br & gt; & lt;br & gt; & lt;b & gt;Features: & lt;/b & gt; & lt;br & gt; • 180g Vinyl LP & lt;br & gt; • Limited time download code & lt;br & gt; & lt;br & gt; & lt;b & gt;Musicians: & lt;/b & gt; & lt;br & gt; Bjorn Meyer, 6-string electric and acoustic bass guitars & lt;br & gt; & lt;br & gt; & lt;b & gt;Selections: & lt;br & gt; Side A: & lt;/b & gt; & lt;br & gt; 1. Nik Bartsch's Ronin Llyria 180g 2LP (Vinyl)
& lt;font color= & quot;#FF0000 & quot; & gt; & lt;b & gt;180g Vinyl Double LP Reissue! & lt;/b & gt; & lt;/font & gt; & lt;br & gt; & lt;br & gt; The third album from one of the most exciting young European bands, “Llyrìa” follows on from “Stoa” and “Holon,” the recordings that established the Swiss band Ronin on the international scene. Leader Nik Bärtsch’s “modular” pieces still define the context of the group’s music but the committed input of the individual Ronin members has lifted the work to the next level, blurring the distinctions between composition, improvisation and interpretation. & lt;br & gt; & lt;br & gt; The music has become more open, so much so that Bärtsch’s old buzzwords like “Zen funk” and “ritual groove music” now scarcely apply and even “minimalism” is only a distant reference. Reed player Sha shines brightly here, and lyrical melodic themes make themselves felt, but perhaps this is, more than its predecessors, a drummer’s record, its beats lovingly crafted by Kasper Rast and percussionist Andi Pupato. Recorded in the South of France in March 2010, with Manfred Eicher producing. & lt;br & gt; & lt;br & gt; & lt;b & gt; & quot;Llyria retains much of the precision of the band's previous output, and yet sounds ever so slightly more human than anything they've done before...it's very much of a piece with Bärtsch's overall musical vision, and longtime listeners will enjoy it as much as new ones. & quot; & lt;/b & gt; -Phil Freeman, allmusic.com & lt;br & gt; & lt;br & gt; & lt;b & gt;Features: & lt;/b & gt; & lt;br & gt; • 180g Audiophile High Quality Pressing & lt;br & gt; • Double LP & lt;br & gt; • Gatefold Jacket & lt;br & gt; & lt;br & gt; & lt;b & gt;Musicians: & lt;/b & gt; & lt;br & gt; Nik Bärtsch, piano & lt;br & gt; Sha, bass clarinet, alto saxophone & lt;br & gt; Björn Meyer, bass & lt;br & gt; Kaspar Rast, drums & lt;br & gt; Andi Pupato, percussion & lt;br & gt; & lt;br & gt; & lt;b & gt;Selections: & lt;/b & gt; & lt;br & gt; 1. & lt;font color= & quot;#FF0000 & quot; & gt; & lt;b & gt;180g Vinyl Double LP Reissue of Collaboration Album! & lt;/b & gt; & lt;/font & gt; & lt;br & gt; & lt;br & gt; Pat Metheny's credibility with the jazz community went way up with the release of this package, a superb 2-LP collaboration with a group of outstanding jazz musicians that dared to be uncompromising at a time when most artists would have merely continued pursuing their electric commercial successes. From the disbanded Keith Jarrett American quartet came bassist Charlie Haden and tenor Dewey Redman - who alternates with and occasionally plays alongside tenor Michael Brecker - and Jack DeJohnette provides more combustible drumming than Metheny had ever experienced on record before. Yet Metheny's off-kilter wandering on solo electric guitar is a comfortable fit for the post-bop rhythmic crosscurrents of this music. & lt;br & gt; & lt;br & gt; Indeed, Haden and Metheny are in total sympathy, perhaps celebrating their mutual Missouri roots, and Metheny's difficult Pretty Scattered - which he mockingly described as Guitar Revenge! - nearly manages to stump even Redman and Brecker. The first of the Two Folk Songs is a great example of the Metheny folk-jazz fusion, with furious strummed guitar underpinning Brecker's melodic line and excursions on the outside and DeJohnette's spectacular drums. Another remarkable track is Open, a group improvisation that finds DeJohnette shaping the track's direction with a pushing solo and Metheny and the saxes emerging at the end. The two original LPs were organized so that the more distinctive Metheny fusions were on sides one and four and the overt jazz tracks occupied sides two and three. & lt;br & gt; & lt;br & gt; & lt;b & gt;Features: & lt;/b & gt; & lt;br & gt; • 180g Audiophile High Quality Pressing & lt;br & gt; • Double LP & lt;br & gt; • Gatefold Jacket & lt;br & gt; & lt;br & gt; & lt;b & gt;Musicians: & lt;/b & gt; & lt;br & gt; Pat Metheny, guitar & lt;br & gt; Charlie Haden, bass & lt;br & gt; Jack DeJohnette, drums & lt;br & gt; Dewey Redman, tenor saxophone & lt;br & gt; Michael Brecker, tenor saxophone & lt;br & gt; & lt;br & gt; & lt;b & gt;Selections: & lt;/b & gt; & lt;br & gt; 1. But as cerebral as he gets on such atmospheric pieces as & quot;Are You Going with Me? & quot; and & quot;Au Lait, & quot; his playing remains decidedly lyrical and melodic. Clearly influenced by Jim Hall, the thoughtful Metheny makes excellent use of space, choosing his notes wisely and reminding listeners that, while he has heavy-duty chops, he's not one to beat everybody over the head with them. Even when he picks up the tempo for the difficult and angular title song, he shuns empty musical acrobatics. Metheny enjoys a powerful rapport with keyboardist Lyle Mays, who also avoids exploiting his technique and opts for meaningful storytelling. & quot; - Allmusic.com & lt;br & gt; & lt;br & gt; & lt;b & gt;Musicians: & lt;/b & gt; & lt;br & gt; Pat Metheny, guitar & lt;br & gt; Lyle Mays, piano/synthesizer & lt;br & gt; Steve Rodby, bass & lt;br & gt; Nana Vasconcelos, percussion/voice & lt;br & gt; Dan Gottlied, drums & lt;br & gt; & lt;br & gt; & lt;b & gt;Features: & lt;/b & gt; & lt;br & gt; • 180g Vinyl LP & lt;br & gt; • Audiophile High Quality Pressing & lt;br & gt; & lt;b & gt; & lt;br & gt; Selections: & lt;br & gt; Side 1 & lt;/b & gt; & lt;br & gt; 1. & lt;font color= & quot;#FF0000 & quot; & gt; & lt;b & gt;180g Vinyl LP Reissue! & lt;/b & gt; & lt;/font & gt; & lt;br & gt; & lt;br & gt; Places is an important album for the Norwegian saxophonist with its stellar transatlantic line-up. & lt;br & gt; & lt;br & gt; Places brings together another congregation of musicians that could only come from ECM. Drummer Jack DeJohnette lassoes his scurrying loops to the acoustic hooks of guitarist Bill Connors, while John Taylor supplements most of the cargo with organ. At the helm of this vessel is Jan Garbarek, whose saxophonism starts high and goes only higher. With cumulative notecraft and a heartfelt commitment to atmosphere, he and Taylor unwrap a lush nexus in the stunning opener. The occasional harmonic falls like a dandelion seed onto this pool of night as cymbals splash all around us. Taylor weaves a fine spread, anchoring us with sustained bass lines and attentive chording, leaving Garbarek to seal every crack with his sonic caulk. Connors seeks to light his surroundings, striking at the flint with his percussive gesticulations in hopes that one spark might show the way. Garbarek sharpens himself with arid flavor and carves out a miniature oasis in the crumbling image of exotic desire. The organ weaves in and out like a halo circumscribing us with subtle urgency until it pulls us beyond the point of no return, where dwells only silence in these “Reflections.” We then find the organ “Entering” into an electric guitar embrace. Bass and drums give us footholds where we might not expect to find them. Thus, what began as an elegy turns into a far-reaching journey that is over too soon. But in the next track we’re still “Going Places,” spurred by DeJohnette’s steady pulse and Garbarek’s hidden thermals. The energy comes in waves, subsiding here for a guitar solo and swelling there at Garbarek’s call. “Passing” ends where the album began, in a fluid ostinato of organ over which Connors looses his wavering song. Garbarek draws an ascendant pattern between those quiet strings, lifting us to an arena in which age curls into a semblance of time. & lt;br & gt; & lt;br & gt; & lt;b & gt;Features: & lt;/b & gt; & lt;br & gt; • 180g Vinyl LP & lt;br & gt; • Audiophile High Quality Pressing & lt;br & gt; • From The Original Analog Tapes & lt;br & gt; • Limited Time Download Code & lt;br & gt; • Printed in Germany & lt;br & gt; & lt;br & gt; & lt;b & gt;Musicians: & lt;/b & gt; & lt;br & gt; Jan Garbarek, saxophones & lt;br & gt; Bill Connors, guitar & lt;br & gt; John Taylor, organ, piano & lt;br & gt; Jack DeJohnette, drums & lt;br & gt; & lt;br & gt; & lt;b & gt;Selections: & lt;br & gt; Side 1: & lt;/b & gt; & lt;br & gt; 1. This album was recorde in September 1977 at Talent Studio is Oslo. & lt;br & gt; & lt;br & gt; & lt;b & gt; & quot;Rypdal's new album is a series of sonic excursions ranging from the expressionist to the impressionist and with few concessions to conformity. Rypdal's guitar and Palle Mikkelborg's trumpet are well-matched with Manfred Eicher's typically superb production putting it all in focus. & quot; & lt;/b & gt; – Record World & lt;br & gt; & lt;br & gt; & lt;b & gt; & quot;On four- and six-string electric bass, Sveinung Hovenso combines a gorgeous tone, melodic lines, and a rich harmonic sensibility. Trumpeter Palle Mikkelborg's debt to the effects-heavy Miles Davis is a key component of Waves. An by this point Rypdal seems less like a guitarist playing notes than a musician painting with sound. Each of the six songs on Waves has its own character, and the album is full of surprises... On the poignant ballad 'Karusell,' Mikkelborg plays so beautifully it's no wonder Rypdal left all the soloing to his bandmate... & lt;font color= & quot;#FF0000 & quot; & gt; & lt;b & gt;High Quality Vinyl LP! & lt;/b & gt; & lt;/font & gt; & lt;br & gt; & lt;br & gt; Mathias Eick reflects on distances traveled in this intensely melodic set of original compositions, which makes an imaginative journey from Hem, the tiny Norwegian village where the trumpeter grew up, to the vast plains of Dakota in the American Midwest. It was to the Midwest that hundreds of thousands of Norwegians traveled by sea in the 19th and early 20th centuries - and naturally they took their music with them. In similar spirit Eick, a Norwegian improviser-composer strongly influenced by North American jazz, here reintegrates some of the colours and textures of his native folk music in these newly-created pieces. In the frontline of the line-up featured here he is partnered by the brilliant violinist Gjermund Larsen, whose roots are in the Norwegian folk tradition. & lt;br & gt; & lt;br & gt; Trumpet and violin exchange lines and soar together above a brilliant rhythm section with Jon Balke at his most lyrical, Helge Norbakken periodically finding pulses that can suggest tribal drumming or buffalo hooves, and the resourceful Mats Eilertsen helping to drive the music forward. The original inspiration for the album was sparked by a grueling North American tour: “I’d been out on the road for a long time and was feeling homesick. Then we reached the area called the Rural Midwest and I suddenly felt as if I was home. I had a sense of why the early settlers would want to build their farms there. It reminded me very much of parts of Norway.” & lt;br & gt; & lt;br & gt; & lt;b & gt; & quot;The compositions are all lyrical, in typical Eick fashion, but with Larsen they take on a rougher, more earthen quality. The violinist's attention to the instrument's early, raw, root sound lends balance to these melodies, and the interplay between violin and trumpet throughout is not only alluring, but often arresting...it perfectly illustrates the thematic frame of the journey he set out to portray: that of the immigrant encountering the unknown and embracing it, and in the process, creating a new personal and cultural history without forsaking the old one. & quot; & lt;/b & gt; -Thom Jurek, allmusic.com & lt;br & gt; & lt;br & gt; & lt;b & gt;Features: & lt;br & gt; & lt;/b & gt;• High Quality Vinyl LP & lt;br & gt; & lt;br & gt; & lt;b & gt;Musicians: & lt;/b & gt; & lt;br & gt; Mathias Eick, trumpet & lt;br & gt; Gjermund Larsen, violin & lt;br & gt; Jon Balke, piano & lt;br & gt; Mats Eilertsen, double bass & lt;br & gt; Helge Norbakken, percussion & lt;br & gt; & lt;br & gt; & lt;b & gt;Selections: & lt;br & gt; Side One: & lt;/b & gt; & lt;br & gt; 1. The arrangements are more structured, the playing often more intense and searching, with a more pronounced rock influence. On the title track, Metheny digs in and displays some authoritative rock-oriented licks and intensity, and the rhythms on & quot;The Search & quot; have a slight, at times asymmetrical Latin feeling. The nearly 13-minute & quot;The Epic & quot; finds the Metheny group developing some real combustion in the improvised sections as Metheny, keyboardist Lyle Mays, bassist Mark Egan and drummer Danny Gottlieb grow tighter as a unit. In hindsight, some of the music seems a bit too tightly conceived to allow adequate breathing room, but this is still high-quality jazz-rock for its time. & quot; - Allmusic.com & lt;br & gt; & lt;br & gt; & lt;b & gt;Features: & lt;/b & gt; & lt;br & gt; • 180g Vinyl LP & lt;br & gt; • Audiophile High Quality Pressing & lt;br & gt; & lt;b & gt; & lt;br & gt; Selections: & lt;br & gt; Side 1 & lt;/b & gt; & lt;br & gt; 1. Keith Jarrett Sun Bear Concerts Numbered Limited Edition 10LP Box Set (Vinyl)
& lt;header & gt; & lt;p & gt; & lt;strong & gt;Reissue Of 1978 10LP Box Set! & lt;br & gt; Numbered, Limited Edition - 2000 Copies! & lt;/br & gt; Jarrett's 1976 Solo Performances In Japan! & lt;/strong & gt; & lt;/p & gt; & lt;/header & gt; & lt;p & gt;Sun Bear Concerts - documenting five complete solo performances by Keith Jarrett in Japan - counts as a milestone achievement in the history of jazz recording. As Down Beat wrote, on the occasion of the original release, Jarrett's improvisations are & lt;strong & gt; & quot;the inventions of a giant, overpoweringly intimate in the way they can draw a listener in and hold him captive. Jarrett has once more stepped into the cave of his creative consciousness and brought to light music of startling power, majesty and warmth. & quot; & lt;/strong & gt; & lt;/p & gt; & lt;p & gt;Rich in incident and detail, the music in this beautifully produced, illustrated and presented ten-LP set, first issued in 1978, marked a giant step forward from The K & amp;#246;ln Concert and revealed Jarrett as a player of limitless creativity, unique in his ability to find new forms in the moment, night after night. & lt;strong & gt; & quot;These marathons showed Jarrett to be one of the greatest improvisers in jazz, & quot; & lt;/strong & gt; Ian Carr wrote in his biography of the pianist, & lt;strong & gt; & quot;with an apparently inexhaustible flow of rhythmic and melodic ideas, one of the most brilliant pianistic techniques of all, and the ability to project complex and profound feeling. & quot; & lt;/strong & gt; & lt;/p & gt; & lt;p & gt;The present edition is a facsimile of the original LP set, described by the late Haus der Kunst curator Okwui Enwezor as & quot;part of ECM's declaration of independence from standard packaging of jazz records. Setting itself apart in this way, ECM treated its recordings as works of art by musicians of the highest artistic and conceptual order. & quot; & lt;/p & gt; & lt;p & gt;A work of art by any standards, Sun Bear Concerts brings together solo concerts in November 1976 in Kyoto, Osaka, Nagoya, Tokyo and Sapporo, in recordings made by Japanese engineer Okihiro Sugano and producer Manfred Eicher, who travelled through Japan with Keith Jarrett. The set's book-form packaging, with design by Barbara Wojirsch, includes photographs by Klaus Knaup, Tadayuki Naitoh and Akira Aimi. & lt;/p & gt; & lt;section id= & quot;features & quot; & gt; & lt;h3 & gt;Features & lt;/h3 & gt; & lt;ul & gt; & lt;li & gt;Numbered, Limited Edition - 2000 Copies & lt;/li & gt; & lt;li & gt;10LP Box Set & lt;/li & gt; & lt;li & gt;Book-form packaging & lt;/li & gt; & lt;li & gt;Design by Barbara Wojirsch & lt;/li & gt; & lt;li & gt;Photographs by Klaus Knaup, Tadayuki Naitoh & amp; Akira Aimi & lt;/li & gt; & lt;li & gt;Made in Germany & lt;/li & gt; & lt;/ul & gt; & lt;/section & gt; & lt;section id= & quot;musicians & quot; & gt; & lt;h3 & gt;Musicians & lt;/h3 & gt; & lt;table & gt; & lt;tr & gt; & lt;th & gt;Keith Jarrett & lt;/th & gt; & lt;td & gt;piano & lt;/td & gt; & lt;/tr & gt; & lt;/table & gt; & lt;/section & gt; & lt;section id= & quot;selections & quot; & gt; & lt;h3 & gt;Selections & lt;/h3 & gt; & lt;h4 & gt;LP 1 & lt;/h4 & gt; & lt;h5 & gt;Side 1: & lt;/h5 & gt; & lt;ol & gt; & lt;li & gt;Kyoto, November 5, 1976 (Part 1a) & lt;/li & gt; & lt;/ol & gt; & lt;h5 & gt;Side 2: & lt;/h5 & gt; & lt;ol & gt; & lt;li & gt;Kyoto, November 5, 1976 (Part 1b) & lt;/li & gt; & lt;/ol & gt; & lt;h4 & gt;LP 2 & lt;/h4 & gt; & lt;h5 & gt;Side 1: & lt;/h5 & gt; & lt;ol & gt; & lt;li & gt;Kyoto, November 5, 1976 (Part 2a) & lt;/li & gt; & lt;/ol & gt; & lt;h5 & gt;Side 2: & lt;/h5 & gt; & lt;ol & gt; & lt;li & gt;Kyoto, November 5, 1976 (Part 2b) & lt;/li & gt; & lt;/ol & gt; & lt;h4 & gt;LP 3 & lt;/h4 & gt; & lt;h5 & gt;Side 1: & lt;/h5 & gt; & lt;ol & gt; & lt;li & gt;Osaka, November 8, 1976 (Part 1a) & lt;/li & gt; & lt;/ol & gt; & lt;h5 & gt;Side 2: & lt;/h5 & gt; & lt;ol & gt; & lt;li & gt;Osaka, November 8, 1976 (Part 1b) & lt;/li & gt; & lt;/ol & gt; & lt;h4 & gt;LP 4 & lt;/h4 & gt; & lt;h5 & gt;Side 1: & lt;/h5 & gt; & lt;ol & gt; & lt;li & gt;Osaka, November 8, 1976 (Part 2a) & lt;/li & gt; & lt;/ol & gt; & lt;h5 & gt;Side 2: & lt;/h5 & gt; & lt;ol & gt; & lt;li & gt;Osaka, November 8, 1976 (Part 2b) & lt;/li & gt; & lt;/ol & gt; & lt;h4 & gt;LP 5 & lt;/h4 & gt; & lt;h5 & gt;Side 1: & lt;/h5 & gt; & lt;ol & gt; & lt;li & gt;Nagoya, November 12, 1976 (Part 1a) & lt;/li & gt; & lt;/ol & gt; & lt;h5 & gt;Side 2: & lt;/h5 & gt; & lt;ol & gt; & lt;li & gt;Nagoya, November 12, 1976 (Part 1b) & lt;/li & gt; & lt;/ol & gt; & lt;h4 & gt;LP 6 & lt;/h4 & gt; & lt;h5 & gt;Side 1: & lt;/h5 & gt; & lt;ol & gt; & lt;li & gt;Nagoya, November 12, 1976 (Part 2a) & lt;/li & gt; & lt;/ol & gt; & lt;h5 & gt;Side 2: & lt;/h5 & gt; & lt;ol & gt; & lt;li & gt;Nagoya, November 12, 1976 (Part 2b) & lt;/li & gt; & lt;/ol & gt; & lt;h4 & gt;LP 7 & lt;/h4 & gt; & lt;h5 & gt;Side 1: & lt;/h5 & gt; & lt;ol & gt; & lt;li & gt;Tokyo, November 14, 1976 (Part 1a) & lt;/li & gt; & lt;/ol & gt; & lt;h5 & gt;Side 2: & lt;/h5 & gt; & lt;ol & gt; & lt;li & gt;Tokyo, November 14, 1976 (Part 1b) & lt;/li & gt; & lt;/ol & gt; & lt;h4 & gt;LP 8 & lt;/h4 & gt; & lt;h5 & gt;Side 1: & lt;/h5 & gt; & lt;ol & gt; & lt;li & gt;Tokyo, November 14, 1976 (Part 2a) & lt;/li & gt; & lt;/ol & gt; & lt;h5 & gt;Side 2: & lt;/h5 & gt; & lt;ol & gt; & lt;li & gt;Tokyo, November 14, 1976 (Part 2b) & lt;/li & gt; & lt;/ol & gt; & lt;h4 & gt;LP 9 & lt;/h4 & gt; & lt;h5 & gt;Side 1: & lt;/h5 & gt; & lt;ol & gt; & lt;li & gt;Sapporo, November 18, 1976 (Part 1a) & lt;/li & gt; & lt;/ol & gt; & lt;h5 & gt;Side 2: & lt;/h5 & gt; & lt;ol & gt; & lt;li & gt;Sapporo, November 18, 1976 (Part 1b) & lt;/li & gt; & lt;/ol & gt; & lt;h4 & gt;LP 10 & lt;/h4 & gt; & lt;h5 & gt;Side 1: & lt;/h5 & gt; & lt;ol & gt; & lt;li & gt;Sapporo, November 18, 1976 (Part 2a) & lt;/li & gt; & lt;/ol & gt; & lt;h5 & gt;Side 2: & lt;/h5 & gt; & lt;ol & gt; & lt;li & gt;Sapporo, November 18, 1976 (Part 2b) & lt;/li & gt; & lt;/ol & gt; & lt;/section & gt;

& lt;font color= & quot;#FF0000 & quot; & gt; & lt;b & gt;180g Vinyl Double LP Reissue! & lt;/b & gt; & lt;/font & gt; & lt;br & gt; & lt;br & gt; Circle was a band on fire with creativity. Corea and Holland had just left Miles Davis' band, keen to explore all parameters of new music in an improvised context. Braxton, equally inspired by Stockhausen and Coltrane, brought in new directions from the AACM. Altschul's resume included extensive work with Paul Bley. Together they were, for a while, matchless. & lt;br & gt; & lt;br & gt; The short-lived Chick Corea outfit outdoes itself in this 1971 live recording. A delicate piano intro primes us for an extended rendition of Wayne Shorter’s “Nefertitti” to start. Once Braxton throws himself on top of incoming bass and drums, however, what began as contemplative awakening quickly turns into a spastic jaunt into more upbeat territory. The gnarled unity of the quartet paints in bold strokes, all the while flirting with total breakdown. Braxton’s perpetual motion and uncompromising tone make a superb tune out of a great one. “Song For The Newborn” gives Holland a moment in the spotlight. Swaddled in all the innocence of its title and bound by a mature sense of structure, this is an engaging interlude to the Braxton/Corea duet that follows. Corea’s frenetic style in the latter works its way through a host of rhythmic options before settling into a row of block chords. Braxton’s heady phrasing tears a page from the book of Coltrane, while his solitary diversions crackle with the urgency of a broken mirror, as yet unframed by the bastion of mundanity. Altschul delights in “Lookout Farm,” in which he dives headfirst into his percussive arsenal. The tinkling of icicles and cowbells in an open field give way to an extended solo, thus providing ample segue into “73 degrees Kelvin,” a beautifully convoluted organism that could only come from the mind of Braxton. Below its cacophonous surface pulsates a vast network of instrumental veins, through which flows the passionate immediacy that is Circle’s lifeblood, and from which Holland’s rapture sings with detail and imagination. “Toy Room  Q & amp;A” (Holland) boasts Corea in notably fine form, leaving plenty of elbowroom for Braxton to flex his reeds. The freer aesthetic crashes in on itself by the end, leaving us craving a familiar foothold. This, we get in the standard “No Greater Love,” capping things off with notable turns from all. & lt;br & gt; & lt;br & gt; Corea busts out with some of his most captivating fingerwork, proving himself finely attuned to the mechanisms of his caravan at every rest stop along the way; Braxton’s “Pharaonic” sound titillates the ear; and one could hardly ask for a tighter rhythm section at one’s side. As a collective unit, Circle doesn’t so much make music out of as inhabit its raw melodic materials. This recording is a lasting testament to a vibrant formative period for ECM. The audience’s enthusiastic reactions give the listener the feeling of being present in the making of history. & lt;br & gt; & lt;br & gt; & lt;b & gt;Features: & lt;/b & gt; & lt;br & gt; • Double LP & lt;br & gt; • 180g Vinyl & lt;br & gt; • Audiophile High Quality Pressing & lt;br & gt; • Live recording & lt;br & gt; • From The Original Analog Tapes & lt;br & gt; • Limited Time Download Code & lt;br & gt; • Printed in Germany & lt;br & gt; & lt;br & gt; & lt;b & gt;Musicians: & lt;/b & gt; & lt;br & gt; Chick Corea, piano & lt;br & gt; Anthony Braxton, reeds, percussion & lt;br & gt; David Holland, bass, cello & lt;br & gt; Barry Altschul, percussion & lt;br & gt; & lt;br & gt; & lt;b & gt;Selections: & lt;br & gt; Side I: & lt;/b & gt; & lt;br & gt; 1. Creating a spontaneous suite of forms in the moment with the assurance of a master builder - interspersing touches of the blues and folksong lyricism between pieces of polyrhythmic and harmonic complexity - he delivers one of his finest performances. An attentive and appreciative audience hangs on every note. & lt;/p & gt; & lt;blockquote cite= & quot;www.stereophile.com & quot; & gt; His elegance, restraint, freedom, austerity, richness, breadth of allusion, heartfelt depths, rhapsodic heights, passionate musical intelligence, rigorously disciplined expressiveness, development of forms invented in the moment, and concentrated brilliance - all executed with undiminished perfection of technique - are amazing, at times overwhelming. No one else does anything that comes close. No one ever has... The sound is lush: ECM at its supremely accomplished best, Steinway concert grands purring warmly and chiming clearly by turns, each of Jarrett's meticulous navigations of tonal nuance lovingly rendered. This is music of permanence. & lt;footer & gt; -Richard Lehnert, Stereophile Magazine Record To Die For 2020 & lt;/footer & gt; & lt;/blockquote & gt; & lt;section id= & quot;features & quot; & gt; & lt;h3 & gt;Features & lt;/h3 & gt; & lt;ul & gt; & lt;li & gt;Double LP & lt;/li & gt; & lt;li & gt;Gatefold jacket & lt;/li & gt; & lt;li & gt;Made in Germany & lt;/li & gt; & lt;/ul & gt; & lt;/section & gt; & lt;section id= & quot;selections & quot; & gt; & lt;h3 & gt;Selections & lt;/h3 & gt; & lt;h4 & gt;Side A: & lt;/h4 & gt; & lt;ol & gt; & lt;li & gt;Part I & lt;/li & gt; & lt;li & gt;Part II & lt;/li & gt; & lt;!--More tracks go here in & lt;li & gt; tags-- & gt; & lt;/ol & gt; & lt;h4 & gt;Side B: & lt;/h4 & gt; & lt;ol start= & quot;3 & quot; & gt; & lt;li & gt;Part III & lt;/li & gt; & lt;li & gt;Part IV & lt;/li & gt; & lt;li & gt;Part V & lt;/li & gt; & lt;li & gt;Part VI & lt;/li & gt; & lt;li & gt;Part VII & lt;/li & gt; & lt;/ol & gt; & lt;h4 & gt;Side C: & lt;/h4 & gt; & lt;ol start= & quot;8 & quot; & gt; & lt;li & gt;Part VIII & lt;/li & gt; & lt;li & gt;Part VIX & lt;/li & gt; & lt;li & gt;Part X & lt;/li & gt; & lt;/ol & gt; & lt;h4 & gt;Side D: & lt;/h4 & gt; & lt;ol start= & quot;11 & quot; & gt; & lt;li & gt;Part XI & lt;/li & gt; & lt;li & gt;Part XII & lt;/li & gt; & lt;li & gt;Answer Me, My Love & lt;/li & gt; & lt;li & gt;It's A Lonesome Old Town & lt;/li & gt; & lt;li & gt;Somewhere Over The Rainbow & lt;/li & gt; & lt;/ol & gt; & lt;/section & gt;

Engaging a then-acoustic Steve Swallow on bass and a gushing Paul Bley on piano in a twofold session of ruffled play for Verve, Giuffre brought his signature silken tone to an ephemeral trio whose tuneful interactivity made for loads of affirming music. & lt;br & gt; & lt;br & gt; In a wonderful encapsulating essay, Steve Lake tells us that the group had by this point reached a state of free jazz that dove past the blaring expectations of its current fashion and headed straight into the instincts beating quietly below. & lt;br & gt; & lt;br & gt; & lt;b & gt; & quot;...nothing short of a revelation musically...There are no corners in this music, no jagged edges, everything is rounded off, if not smooth, then at least warm -- no matter how complex the music becomes it has no air of academic elitism or dry didacticism about it, the emotions are transparent and expressed with understatement and grace. This reissue is perhaps, along with Free Fall, one of the most essential documents regarding the other side of early-'60s jazz...Giuffre didn't straddle fences; on Fusion and Thesis, he just walked through them. & quot; & lt;/b & gt; -Thom Jurek, allmusic.com & lt;br & gt; & lt;br & gt; & lt;b & gt;Features: & lt;/b & gt; & lt;br & gt; • 180g Audiophile High Quality Pressing & lt;br & gt; • Double LP & lt;br & gt; • Gatefold Jacket & lt;br & gt; & lt;br & gt; & lt;b & gt;Musicians: & lt;/b & gt; & lt;br & gt; Jimmy Giuffre, clarinet & lt;br & gt; Paul Bley, piano & lt;br & gt; Steve Swallow, double-bass & lt;br & gt; & lt;br & gt; & lt;b & gt;Selections: & lt;/b & gt; & lt;br & gt; 1. & lt;header & gt; & lt;p & gt; & lt;strong & gt;First Solo Recording On Vinyl LP! & lt;/strong & gt; & lt;/p & gt; & lt;/header & gt; & lt;p & gt;The ECM album of Myung Whun Chung features the widely-celebrated conductor as pianist. Recorded at Venice's Teatro La Fenice, in July 2013, the album marks the first occasion that Chung has recorded solo. In a performer's note, he describes the album as a gift for younger listeners, as well as a personal thanks to those who share his love of this music. Chung's touch and sensitivity for dynamics cast a new light on familiar pieces - by Debussy, Chopin, Beethoven, Tchaikovsky, Schubert, Schumann and Mozart - as they are experienced in a gently flowing sequence which also serves to highlight affinities between the compositions. & lt;/p & gt; & lt;p & gt;Although conducting now fully occupies his professional life, Chung (born 1953 in Seoul) made his debut as pianist with the Seoul Philharmonic at the age of seven. He later studied the piano with Maria Curcio, the last and favorite pupil of Artur Schnabel. In 1974 he was a prize winner in the Tchaikovsky Competition. He then began his career playing piano trios with his sisters, Kyung Wha Chung and Myung Wha Chung. & lt;/p & gt; & lt;section id= & quot;features & quot; & gt; & lt;h3 & gt;Features & lt;/h3 & gt; & lt;ul & gt; & lt;li & gt; Vinyl LP & lt;/li & gt; & lt;li & gt;Made in Germany & lt;/li & gt; & lt;/ul & gt; & lt;/section & gt; & lt;section id= & quot;musicians & quot; & gt; & lt;h3 & gt;Musicians & lt;/h3 & gt; & lt;table & gt; & lt;tr & gt; & lt;th & gt;Myung Whun Chung & lt;/th & gt; & lt;td & gt;piano & lt;/td & gt; & lt;/tr & gt; & lt;/table & gt; & lt;/section & gt; & lt;section id= & quot;selections & quot; & gt; & lt;h3 & gt;Selections & lt;/h3 & gt; & lt;h4 & gt;Side A: & lt;/h4 & gt; & lt;h5 & gt;Claude Debussy (1862-1918) & lt;/h5 & gt; & lt;ol & gt; & lt;li & gt;Clair de Lune & lt;/li & gt; & lt;/ol & gt; & lt;h5 & gt;Frederic Chopin (1810-1849) & lt;/h5 & gt; & lt;ol start= & quot;2 & quot; & gt; & lt;li & gt;Nocturne In D-Flat Major op. 27/2 & lt;/li & gt; & lt;/ol & gt; & lt;h5 & gt;Ludwig van Beethoven (1770-1827) & lt;/h5 & gt; & lt;ol start= & quot;3 & quot; & gt; & lt;li & gt;F & amp;#252;r Elise & lt;/li & gt; & lt;/ol & gt; & lt;h5 & gt;Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky (1840-1893) & lt;/h5 & gt; & lt;ol start= & quot;4 & quot; & gt; & lt;li & gt;Autumn Song & lt;/li & gt; & lt;/ol & gt; & lt;h5 & gt;Franz Schubert (1797-1828) & lt;/h5 & gt; & lt;ol start= & quot;5 & quot; & gt; & lt;li & gt;Impromptu In E-Flat Major D899/2 & lt;/li & gt; & lt;/ol & gt; & lt;h4 & gt;Side B: & lt;/h4 & gt; & lt;h5 & gt;Robert Schumann (1810-1856) & lt;/h5 & gt; & lt;ol & gt; & lt;li & gt;Tr & amp;#228;umerei & lt;/li & gt; & lt;/ol & gt; & lt;h5 & gt;Franz Schubert & lt;/h5 & gt; & lt;ol start= & quot;2 & quot; & gt; & lt;li & gt;Impromptu In G-Flat Major D899/3 & lt;/li & gt; & lt;/ol & gt; & lt;h5 & gt;Frederic Chopin & lt;/h5 & gt; & lt;ol start= & quot;3 & quot; & gt; & lt;li & gt;Nocturne In C-Sharp Minor op.posth. & lt;/li & gt; & lt;/ol & gt; & lt;h5 & gt;Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart (1756-1791) & lt;/h5 & gt; & lt;ol start= & quot;4 & quot; & gt; & lt;li & gt;12 Variations On & quot;Ah! vous dirais-je, Maman & quot; K.265 & lt;/li & gt; & lt;/ol & gt; & lt;/section & gt;

The album includes a & lt;b & gt;tribute to Paul Motian & lt;/b & gt; in the form of a searching interpretation of one of the late drummer’s pieces, an & lt;b & gt;homage to jazz elder Lee Konitz & lt;/b & gt;, several country/blues-accented Frisell originals, and an inimitable treatment of the famous James Bond theme & quot;Goldfinger. & quot; & lt;br & gt; & lt;br & gt; & lt;b & gt; & quot;Frisell is a guitarist whose minimalist aesthetic colors each carefully chosen note he plays, and he can coat a room in mysterious yet strangely warming tones... & quot; & lt;/b & gt;- The New Yorker, March 2017 & lt;br & gt; & lt;br & gt; & lt;b & gt; & quot;With Small Town, Frisell has clearly found another ideal musical foil to add to his growing cadre of musicians with whom he collaborates on a regular basis. Intimate, beautiful and deep, while at the same time knotty, witty and curiously skewed, Small Town delivers, in many ways, on the promise of In Line's five duo tracks 35 years on, with a live set that proves great music isn't just where you find it; it's everywhere. & quot; & lt;/b & gt;- John Kelman, All About Jazz & lt;br & gt; & lt;br & gt; & lt;b & gt; & quot;Morgan's quick anticipations of Frisell's moves give their conversations a startling buoyancy; the weave of bell-like harmonics, quiet electronics and folk-blues figures is mesmerising on the Paul Motian tribute It Should Have Happened a Long Time Ago; Frisell's Song for Andrew is like a Nina Rota movie theme; and the title track is wistful country-rock that drifts into haunting, ever-mobile dissonances. It all sounds as natural as talking or singing. & quot; & lt;/b & gt;- John Fordham, The Guardian & lt;br & gt; & lt;br & gt; & lt;b & gt;Features: & lt;/b & gt; & lt;br & gt; • 180g Vinyl & lt;br & gt; • Double LP & lt;br & gt; • Gatefold jacket & lt;br & gt; • Limited time download code included & lt;br & gt; & lt;br & gt; & lt;b & gt;Musicians: & lt;/b & gt; & lt;br & gt; Bill Frisell, guitar & lt;br & gt; Thomas Morgan, double bass & lt;br & gt; & lt;br & gt; & lt;b & gt;Selections: & lt;br & gt; Side 1: & lt;/b & gt; & lt;br & gt; 1. The group is an association of old friends. & lt;strong & gt; & quot;We're all coming from jazz, but some of us left it earlier & quot;, & lt;/strong & gt; Avishai says, summing up the stylistic reach of his cohorts. & lt;strong & gt; & quot;Everyone's bringing in their backgrounds, and that becomes part of the sound of the band. & quot; & lt;/strong & gt; Textures from electronica, ambient music and psychedelia are part of the blend, so too grooves and beats from rock, pop, trip-hop and more. A wide-open approach to cover versions - from Massive Attack to Beethoven - is also integral to the Vicious vision. Recorded in Studios La Buissonne in the South of France in August 2019 and produced by Manfred Eicher, Big Vicious's debut album is issued as the band gears up for extensive international touring. & lt;/p & gt; & lt;p & gt; & lt;strong & gt; & quot;When musicians blur the boundaries between jazz, rock, and electronica, they can put themselves on a fine line between sleek and slick. On his fourth release for ECM, trumpeter Avishai Cohen negotiates this liminal space of polished fusion without tumbling down the slippery slope toward facile pop. Big Vicious is relatively atypical of Manfred Eicher's label, with its abundance of electric instruments and effects, but it benefits from Eicher's pinpoint and atmospheric production... & quot; & lt;/strong & gt; - Derk Richardson, & lt;i & gt;The Absolute Sound & lt;/i & gt;, July/August 2020 & lt;/p & gt; & lt;section id= & quot;features & quot; & gt; & lt;h3 & gt;Features & lt;/h3 & gt; & lt;ul & gt; & lt;li & gt;Vinyl LP & lt;/li & gt; & lt;li & gt;Made in Germany & lt;/li & gt; & lt;/ul & gt; & lt;/section & gt; & lt;section id= & quot;musicians & quot; & gt; & lt;h3 & gt;Musicians & lt;/h3 & gt; & lt;table & gt; & lt;tr & gt; & lt;th & gt;Avishai Cohen & lt;/th & gt; & lt;td & gt;trumpet, effects, synthesizer & lt;/td & gt; & lt;/tr & gt; & lt;tr & gt; & lt;th & gt;Uzi Ramirez & lt;/th & gt; & lt;td & gt;guitar & lt;/td & gt; & lt;/tr & gt; & lt;tr & gt; & lt;th & gt;Yonatan Albalak & lt;/th & gt; & lt;td & gt;guitar, bass & lt;/td & gt; & lt;/tr & gt; & lt;tr & gt; & lt;th & gt;Aviv Cohen & lt;/th & gt; & lt;td & gt;drums & lt;/td & gt; & lt;/tr & gt; & lt;tr & gt; & lt;th & gt;Ziv Ravitz & lt;/th & gt; & lt;td & gt;drums, live sampling & lt;/td & gt; & lt;/tr & gt; & lt;/table & gt; & lt;/section & gt; & lt;section id= & quot;selections & quot; & gt; & lt;h3 & gt;Selections & lt;/h3 & gt; & lt;h4 & gt;Side 1: & lt;/h4 & gt; & lt;ol & gt; & lt;li & gt;Honey Fountain & lt;/li & gt; & lt;li & gt;Hidden Chamber & lt;/li & gt; & lt;li & gt;King Kutner & lt;/li & gt; & lt;li & gt;Moonlight Sonata (Beethoven) & lt;/li & gt; & lt;li & gt;Fractals & lt;/li & gt; & lt;li & gt;The Things You Tell Me & lt;/li & gt; & lt;/ol & gt; & lt;h4 & gt;Side 2: & lt;/h4 & gt; & lt;ol & gt; & lt;li & gt;Teardrop & lt;/li & gt; & lt;li & gt;This Time It's Different & lt;/li & gt; & lt;li & gt;Teno Neno & lt;/li & gt; & lt;li & gt;The Cow & amp; The Calf & lt;/li & gt; & lt;li & gt;Intent & lt;/li & gt; & lt;/ol & gt; & lt;/section & gt;

& lt;font color= & quot;#FF0000 & quot; & gt; & lt;b & gt;180g Vinyl LP Reissue! & lt;/b & gt; & lt;/font & gt; & lt;br & gt; & lt;br & gt; & quot;Facing You is one of the most important recordings in contemporary jazz for several reasons, aside from being beautifully conceived and executed by pianist Keith Jarrett. It is a hallmark recording of solo piano in any discipline, a signature piece in the early ECM label discography, a distinct departure from mainstream jazz, a breakthrough for Jarrett, and a studio prelude for his most famous solo project to follow, The Köln Concert. Often meditative, richly melodic, inventive, and introspective beyond compare, Jarrett expresses his soul in tailored tones that set standards for not only this kind of jazz, but music that would serve him and his fans in good stead onward. In this program of all originals, which sound spontaneously improvised with certain pretexts and motifs as springboards, the rhapsodic & quot;Ritooria, & quot; 4/4 love/spirit song & quot;Lalene, & quot; and song for family and life & quot;My Lady; My Child & quot; firmly establish Jarrett's heartfelt and thoughtful approach. & quot;Vapallia & quot; cements the thematic, seemingly effortless, lighter -- but never tame -- aesthetic. & quot;Starbright & quot; is an easy-paced two-step tune signifying fully Jarrett's personalized stance. Straddling a more jagged, angular, and free edge, the pianist evokes the influence of Paul Bley during & quot;Semblence & quot; (sic). But it is the opening selection, an extended ten-minute opus titled & quot;In Front, & quot; that truly showcases Jarrett at his playful best -- a timeless, modal, direct, and bright delight. A remarkable effort that reveals more and more with each listen, this recording has stood the test of time, and is unquestionably a Top Three recording in Keith Jarrett's long and storied career. & quot; - Allmusic.com & lt;br & gt; & lt;br & gt; & lt;b & gt;Features: & lt;/b & gt; & lt;br & gt; • 180g Vinyl LP & lt;br & gt; • Audiophile High Quality Pressing & lt;br & gt; & lt;b & gt; & lt;br & gt; Selections: & lt;br & gt; Side 1 & lt;/b & gt; & lt;br & gt; 1. Joe Lovano, Marilyn Crispell & Carmen Castaldi Trio Tapestry: Garden Of Expression LP (Vinyl)
& lt;header & gt; & lt;p & gt; & lt;strong & gt;2019 Album On Vinyl LP! & lt;/strong & gt; & lt;/p & gt; & lt;/header & gt; & lt;p & gt;The debut album of Joe Lovano's Trio Tapestry was one of 2019's most talked-about releases. The trio's musical concept - the Boston Globe spoke of & quot;utterances of hushed assurance, lyricism and suspense & quot; - is taken to the next level on its second album, Garden of Expression, a recording distinguished by its intense focus. & lt;/p & gt; & lt;p & gt;Lovano, a saxophonist whose reach extends across the history of modern jazz and beyond, plays with exceptional sensitivity in Trio Tapestry. And the music he writes for this group - tenderly melodic or declamatory, harmonically open, rhythmically free, and spiritually involving - encourages subtle and differentiated responses from his creative partners. Joe describes their interaction as & quot;magical. & quot; Carmen Castaldi's space-conscious approach to drumming further refines an improvisational understanding that he and Lovano have shared since the 1970s. The trio is also a wonderful context for Marilyn Crispell's solos, counter melodies, and improvisational embellishments, and her feeling for sound-color helps the chamber music character of the group to flower. & lt;/p & gt; & lt;p & gt;The details of the music are beautifully realized in this recording made in the highly responsive acoustics of the Auditorio Stelio Molo RSI in Lugano and produced by Manfred Eicher. & lt;/p & gt; & lt;blockquote cite= & quot;www.allmusic.com & quot; & gt; Having played with legendary ECM artists in the past, including most notably Lee Konitz and Paul Motian, Lovano's work with Trio Tapestry feels like a continuation of that style of progressive, classical-influenced jazz and fittingly brings to mind the sound of ECM albums of the '70s and '80s. Tracks like 'Chapel Song,' 'Night Creatures,' and 'West of the Moon' have an impressionistic quality, evoking the dream-like compositions of Claude Debussy as Lovano floats against Crispell's rippling aquatic arpeggios. Equally enveloping is the title track, in which Crispell's far-eyed chords and Lovano's dusky tones conjure the '60s spiritual jazz of John Coltrane and Pharoah Sanders. What's also particularly compelling is just how important Castaldi's drumming is to the trio's overall sound. Unmoored by a bass instrument, Castaldi's buoyant, textural rhythms seem to suggest as much of a chordal center on any given song as Crispell's playing. This is especially true in the trio's more free-leaning moments, as on 'Dream on That' in which the drummer kicks off a rambling call-and-response improvisation that goes from starkly atonal to thickly frenetic and back again. Always at the center of the trio, however, is Lovano, whose warm, vocal-like tones and painterly phrases give the album the focused reverence and elevated emotionality of a church service. & lt;footer & gt; -Matt Collar, AllMusic.com, 4.5/5 stars & lt;/footer & gt; & lt;/blockquote & gt; & lt;section id= & quot;features & quot; & gt; & lt;h3 & gt;Features & lt;/h3 & gt; & lt;ul & gt; & lt;li & gt;Vinyl LP & lt;/li & gt; & lt;li & gt;Made in Germany & lt;/li & gt; & lt;/ul & gt; & lt;/section & gt; & lt;section id= & quot;musicians & quot; & gt; & lt;h3 & gt;Musicians & lt;/h3 & gt; & lt;table & gt; & lt;tr & gt; & lt;th & gt;Joe Lovano & lt;/th & gt; & lt;td & gt;tenor & amp; soprano saxophones, tarogato, gongs & lt;/td & gt; & lt;/tr & gt; & lt;tr & gt; & lt;th & gt;Marily Crispell & lt;/th & gt; & lt;td & gt;piano & lt;/td & gt; & lt;/tr & gt; & lt;tr & gt; & lt;th & gt;Carmen Castaldi & lt;/th & gt; & lt;td & gt;drums & lt;/td & gt; & lt;/tr & gt; & lt;!--More musician rows go here-- & gt; & lt;/table & gt; & lt;/section & gt; & lt;section id= & quot;selections & quot; & gt; & lt;h3 & gt;Selections & lt;/h3 & gt; & lt;h4 & gt;Side 1: & lt;/h4 & gt; & lt;ol & gt; & lt;li & gt;Chapel Song & lt;/li & gt; & lt;li & gt;Night Creatures & lt;/li & gt; & lt;li & gt;West Of The Moon & lt;/li & gt; & lt;li & gt;Garden Of Expression & lt;/li & gt; & lt;/ol & gt; & lt;h4 & gt;Side 2: & lt;/h4 & gt; & lt;ol & gt; & lt;li & gt;Treasured Moments & lt;/li & gt; & lt;li & gt;Sacred Chant & lt;/li & gt; & lt;li & gt;Dream On That & lt;/li & gt; & lt;li & gt;Zen Like & lt;/li & gt; & lt;/ol & gt; & lt;/section & gt;

Eick is in great form as a writer on this showing, deploying driving rhythm at the bottom end of his music and soaring melody at the top in this series of pieces which add up to a kind of collective family portrait. & lt;br & gt; & lt;br & gt; & lt;b & gt;Features: & lt;/b & gt; & lt;br & gt; • 180g Vinyl LP & lt;br & gt; • Limited time download code & lt;br & gt; • Made in Germany & lt;br & gt; & lt;br & gt; & lt;b & gt;Musicians: & lt;/b & gt; & lt;br & gt; Mathias Eick, trumpet, voice & lt;br & gt; Hakon Aase, violin & lt;br & gt; Andreas Ulvo, piano & lt;br & gt; Audun Erlien, electric bass & lt;br & gt; Torstein Lofthus, drums & lt;br & gt; Helge Andreas Norbakken, drums, percussion & lt;br & gt; & lt;br & gt; & lt;b & gt;Selections: & lt;br & gt; Side A: & lt;/b & gt; & lt;br & gt; 1. This double LP recording includes songs like & quot;My Funny Valentine, & quot; & quot;Autumn Leaves, & quot; & quot;Someday My Prince Will Come, & quot; and more. & lt;br & gt; & lt;br & gt; Keith Jarrett is an American pianist and composer who performs both jazz and classical music. Jarrett started his career with Art Blakey, moving on to play with Charles Lloyd and Miles Davis. Since the early 1970s he has enjoyed a great deal of success as a group leader and a solo performer in jazz, jazz fusion, and classical music. His improvisations draw from the traditions of jazz and other genres, especially Western classical music, gospel, blues, and ethnic folk music. & lt;br & gt; & lt;br & gt; In 2003, Jarrett received the Polar Music Prize, the first (and to this day only) recipient not to share the prize with a co-recipient, and in 2004 he received the Léonie Sonning Music Prize. In 2008, he was inducted into the Down Beat Hall of Fame in the magazine's 73rd Annual Readers' Poll. & lt;br & gt; & lt;br & gt; & lt;b & gt; & quot;Jarrett treats his brace of pop and jazz standards with unpredictable, often eloquently melodic and structural originality. & quot; & lt;/b & gt; -Richard S. Enrico Rava New York Days 180g 2LP (Vinyl)
& lt;font color= & quot;#FF0000 & quot; & gt; & lt;b & gt;180g Vinyl Double LP Reissue! & lt;/b & gt; & lt;/font & gt; & lt;br & gt; & lt;br & gt; New York Days features Italy’s highly inventive jazz musicians Enrico Rava and protégé Stefano Bollani, together with three leading American jazzmen: master drummer Paul Motian, bassist Larry Grenadier, and, in his ECM debut, saxophonist Mark Turner. This album is a magical European / American collaboration, recorded in the jazz capital of the world. & lt;br & gt; & lt;br & gt; The album is both a transatlantic project and a kind of ‘homecoming.’ Rava found his musical direction while living in New York in the late 60s/early 70s. Since then, an increasingly ‘Italian’ lyricism has also made itself felt in his playing. Rava’s soulful trumpet is strongly contrasted with the lean, analytical playing of Mark Turner. Bollani’s playful harmonic imagination shapes bridges between them. Larry Grenadier is & quot;present and focused in every moment” as Rava says, and Paul Motian is as idiosyncratically creative as ever. & lt;br & gt; & lt;br & gt; The Rava/Bollani/Motian trio album of 2004, Tati, was a popular and critical success. New York Days takes the combination to the next level. & lt;br & gt; & lt;br & gt; & lt;b & gt; & quot;The neo-noir textures of Italian trumpeter Enrico Rava's fine ECM release, NEW YORK DAYS, recall evocative, jazz-based film scores such as Gato Barbieri's LAST TANGO IN PARIS or Miles Davis's ELEVATOR TO THE GALLOWS...Rava conjures a rain-soaked, black-and-white urban fantasia on a finely produced, 77-minute set of moody originals...one of the outstanding jazz releases of 2009. & quot; & lt;/b & gt; -Richard Mortifoglio, allmusic.com & lt;br & gt; & lt;br & gt; & lt;b & gt;Features: & lt;/b & gt; & lt;br & gt; • 180g Audiophile High Quality Pressing & lt;br & gt; • Double LP & lt;br & gt; • Gatefold Jacket & lt;br & gt; & lt;br & gt; & lt;b & gt;Musicians: & lt;/b & gt; & lt;br & gt; Enrico Rava, trumpet & lt;br & gt; Stefano Bollani, piano & lt;br & gt; Mark Turner, tenor saxophone & lt;br & gt; Larry Grenadier, double-bass & lt;br & gt; Paul Motian, drums & lt;br & gt; & lt;br & gt; & lt;b & gt;Selections: & lt;/b & gt; & lt;br & gt; 1. The Vijay Iyer Sextet Far From Over 180g 2LP (Vinyl)
& lt;font color= & quot;#FF0000 & quot; & gt; & lt;b & gt;180g Vinyl Double LP! & lt;br & gt; One of Rolling Stone's 50 Best Albums of 2017! & lt;/b & gt; & lt;/font & gt; & lt;br & gt; & lt;br & gt; & lt;p & gt; & lt;strong & gt;2019 Stereophile Magazine Record to Die For! & lt;/strong & gt; & lt;/p & gt; Keyboardist-composer Vijay Iyer’s energized sequence of ECM releases has garnered copious international praise. Yet his fifth for the label since 2014 - Far From Over, featuring his dynamically commanding sextet – finds Iyer reaching a new peak, furthering an artistry that led The Guardian to call him & quot;most inventive new-generation jazz pianists & quot; and The New Yorker to describe him as & quot;extravagantly gifted… brilliantly eclectic. & quot; Far From Over features this sextet of virtuoso improvisers - with horn players Graham Haynes, Steve Lehman and Mark Shim alongside rhythm partners Stephan Crump and Tyshawn Sorey - leveraging a wealth of jazz history even as it pushes boldly forward. The music ranges from the thrillingly explosive ( & quot;Down to the Wire, & quot; & quot;Good on the Ground & quot;) to the cathartically elegiac ( & quot;For Amiri Baraka, & quot; & quot;Threnody & quot;), with melodic hooks, entrancing atmosphere, rhythmic muscle and an elemental spirit all part of the allure. & quot;This group has a lot of fire in it, but also a lot of earth, because the tones are so deep, the timbres and textures, & quot; Iyer says. & quot;There’s also air and water - the music moves. & quot; & lt;br & gt; & lt;br & gt; & lt;b & gt; & quot;Rambunctious, furiously funky…. [This sextet offers] the sort of head-bobbing drive and invention that has landed Iyer on multiple best-of lists over the years & quot; & lt;/b & gt; - Los Angeles Times, June 2017 & lt;br & gt; & lt;br & gt; & lt;b & gt; & quot;If you are looking for the shape of jazz to come, here it is. & quot; & lt;/b & gt; - Rolling Stone & lt;br & gt; & lt;br & gt; & lt;blockquote cite= & quot;www.stereophile.com & quot; & gt; Iyer's solo, duo, and trio albums have made him famous and won him a MacArthur Fellowship. But Far from Over proves that his true calling is to lead a full ensemble in which elite soloists can feed off his special energy and confront the provocative ideas in his compositions. Like so many current jazz recordings, Far from Over is a cry of rage against the darkness of the Trump Era. The players in Iyer's sextet, especially Lehman and Shim, achieve something rare: They translate into music their despair, defiance, and hard-won hope with such passion, honesty, and eloquence that they turn social protest into art. & lt;footer & gt; -Thomas Conrad, Stereophile Magazine Record To Die For 2019 & lt;/footer & gt; & lt;/blockquote & gt; & lt;b & gt;Features: & lt;/b & gt; & lt;br & gt; • 180g Vinyl & lt;br & gt; • Double LP & lt;br & gt; • Gatefold jacket & lt;br & gt; • Limited time download code & lt;br & gt; & lt;br & gt; & lt;b & gt;Musicians: & lt;/b & gt; & lt;br & gt; Graham Haynes, cornet, flugelhorn, electronics & lt;br & gt; Steve Lehman, alto saxophone & lt;br & gt; Mark Shim, tenor saxophone & lt;br & gt; Vijay Iyer, piano, Fender Rhodes & lt;br & gt; Stephan Crump, double bass & lt;br & gt; Tyshawn Sorey, drums & lt;br & gt; & lt;br & gt; & lt;b & gt;Selections: & lt;br & gt; Side A: & lt;/b & gt; & lt;br & gt; 1. Chris Potter & Underground Orchestra Imaginary Cities 2LP (Vinyl)
& lt;font color= & quot;#FF0000 & quot; & gt; & lt;b & gt;High Quality Vinyl Double LP! & lt;/b & gt; & lt;/font & gt; & lt;br & gt; & lt;br & gt; Imaginary Cities is the recording premiere of saxophonist Chris Potter’s Underground Orchestra. At the core of this larger ensemble is the personnel of his long-established Underground Quartet – with Adam Rogers, Craig Taborn and Nate Smith – now joined by two bassists, a string quartet, and Potter’s old comrade from Dave Holland Quintet days, vibes and marimba man Steve Nelson. The title composition is a suite, panoramic in its reach, with movements subtitled “Compassion”, “Dualities”, “Disintegration” and “Rebuilding”. The scope of the work, and its contrasting moods and thematic development, inspire some of Potter’s finest playing. His saxes fly high above his idealized cityscapes or launch into dialogues or group improvising with its gifted inhabitants. Four further pieces – “Lament”, “Firefly”, “Sky” and “Shadow Self” – extend the feeling of the suite, successfully combining both tightly written material and very open areas involving all members of the orchestra. References are multi-idiomatic and multicultural, and Potter, who counts Charlie Parker with Strings amongst his formative enthusiasms, had Arabic and Indian string sections in mind, as well as contemporary composition, when shaping this material. Imaginary Cities was recorded in December 2013 in New York’s Avatar Studio and produced by Manfred Eicher. & lt;br & gt; & lt;br & gt; & lt;b & gt;Features: & lt;/b & gt; & lt;br & gt; • High Quality Pressing & lt;br & gt; • Double LP & lt;br & gt; • Gatefold Jacket & lt;br & gt; & lt;br & gt; & lt;b & gt;Musicians: & lt;/b & gt; & lt;br & gt; Chris Potter, tenor & amp; soprano saxophone, bass clarinet & lt;br & gt; Adam Rogers, guitars & lt;br & gt; Craig Taborn, piano & lt;br & gt; Steve Nelson, vibraphone, marimba & lt;br & gt; Fima Ephron, bass guitar & lt;br & gt; Scott Colley, acoustic bass & lt;br & gt; Nate Smith, drums & lt;br & gt; Mark Feldman, violin & lt;br & gt; Joyce Hammann, violin & lt;br & gt; Lois Martin, viola & lt;br & gt; David Eggar, cello & lt;br & gt; & lt;br & gt; & lt;b & gt;Selections & lt;/b & gt;: & lt;br & gt; 1. The group first came together at Oslo's Royal Academy of Music, where for two years the players would meet each week for exploratory music making. Str & amp;#248;nen: & quot; & lt;strong & gt;We always played freely - drifting between elements of contemporary classical music, folk music, jazz, whatever we were inspired by. Sometimes the music was very quiet and minimalistic: playing together generated some special experiences. & lt;/strong & gt; & quot; The spontaneous spirit of the music is reflected in the trio's debut recording, which was made at the Lugano radio studio and produced by Manfred Eicher. With the exception of the title piece, based on a traditional Norwegian tune, the music on Bayou was collectively created in the moment. & lt;/p & gt; & lt;section id= & quot;features & quot; & gt; & lt;h3 & gt;Features & lt;/h3 & gt; & lt;ul & gt; & lt;li & gt;Vinyl LP & lt;/li & gt; & lt;li & gt;Recorded August 2018 & lt;/li & gt; & lt;li & gt;Made in Germany & lt;/li & gt; & lt;/ul & gt; & lt;/section & gt; & lt;section id= & quot;musicians & quot; & gt; & lt;h3 & gt;Musicians & lt;/h3 & gt; & lt;table & gt; & lt;tr & gt; & lt;th & gt;Marthe Lea & lt;/th & gt; & lt;td & gt;clarinet, vocals, percussion & lt;/td & gt; & lt;/tr & gt; & lt;tr & gt; & lt;th & gt;Ayumi Tanaka & lt;/th & gt; & lt;td & gt;piano & lt;/td & gt; & lt;/tr & gt; & lt;tr & gt; & lt;th & gt;Thomas Str & amp;#248;nen & lt;/th & gt; & lt;td & gt;drums, percussion & lt;/td & gt; & lt;/tr & gt; & lt;/table & gt; & lt;/section & gt; & lt;section id= & quot;selections & quot; & gt; & lt;h3 & gt;Selections & lt;/h3 & gt; & lt;h4 & gt;Side 1: & lt;/h4 & gt; & lt;ol & gt; & lt;li & gt;Bayou & lt;/li & gt; & lt;li & gt;Pasha & lt;/li & gt; & lt;li & gt;Duryea & lt;/li & gt; & lt;li & gt;Nahla & lt;/li & gt; & lt;li & gt;Varsha & lt;/li & gt; & lt;/ol & gt; & lt;h4 & gt;Side 2: & lt;/h4 & gt; & lt;ol & gt; & lt;li & gt;Eyre & lt;/li & gt; & lt;li & gt;Dwyn & lt;/li & gt; & lt;li & gt;Bayou II & lt;/li & gt; & lt;li & gt;Como & lt;/li & gt; & lt;li & gt;Chantara & lt;/li & gt; & lt;/ol & gt; & lt;/section & gt;

Opening with a jazzy cover of Mari Persen's & quot;Gula Gula, & quot; made fuller with bass guitar accompaniment that modifies the chord structure of the whole tune, the album next features the five-part & quot;Molde Canticle, & quot; which spans from a dreamy esoteric sound to African folk music. Garbarek really wails in places, and it is a welcome surprise -- he should wail more than he does. Synthesizer sounds are starting to become less prominent as well. There is excellent piano work by Rainer Brüninghaus and excellent vocalizing by guest artist Ingor Ántte Áilu Gaup. A sign of good things to come. & quot; - Allmusic.com & lt;br & gt; & lt;br & gt; & lt;b & gt;Features: & lt;/b & gt; & lt;br & gt; • 180g Vinyl LP & lt;br & gt; • Audiophile High Quality Pressing & lt;br & gt; & lt;br & gt; & lt;b & gt;Selections: & lt;/b & gt; & lt;br & gt; 1. & lt;font color= & quot;#FF0000 & quot; & gt; & lt;b & gt;180g Vinyl Double LP Reissue! & lt;/b & gt; & lt;/font & gt; & lt;br & gt; & lt;br & gt; The Köln Concert is a concert recording by the pianist Keith Jarrett of solo piano improvisations performed at the Opera House in Cologne on January 24, 1975. The vinyl album was released in the autumn of 1975 by the ECM Records label to critical acclaim, and went on to sell more than 3.5 million copies. & lt;br & gt; & lt;br & gt; Many critics consider this to be Keith Jarrett’s most rewarding solo recording although Solo Concerts from the previous year is on the same level. The music is quite brilliant with Jarrett (who was improvising freely without any prior planning) developing the most interesting and occasionally startling ideas. The strong fresh melodies and his bluesy feel make this a very enjoyable outing. & lt;br & gt; & lt;br & gt; & lt;b & gt; & quot;Jarrett's intimate meditation on the inner workings of not only his pianism, but also the instrument itself and the nature of sound and how it stacks up against silence, involved listeners in its search for beauty, truth, and meaning...With this album, Jarrett put himself in his own league, and you can feel the inspiration coming off him in waves...it speaks volumes about a musician and a music that opened up the world of jazz to so many who had been excluded, and offered the possibility -- if only briefly -- of a cultural, aesthetic optimism, no matter how brief that interval actually was. This is a true and lasting masterpiece of melodic, spontaneous composition and improvisation that set the standard. & quot; & lt;/b & gt; -Thom Jurek, allmusic.com & lt;br & gt; & lt;br & gt; & lt;b & gt;Features: & lt;/b & gt; & lt;br & gt; • 180g Audiophile High Quality Pressing & lt;br & gt; • Double LP & lt;br & gt; • Gatefold Jacket & lt;br & gt; & lt;br & gt; & lt;b & gt;Musicians: & lt;/b & gt; & lt;br & gt; Keith Jarrett, piano & lt;br & gt; & lt;br & gt; & lt;b & gt;Selections: & lt;/b & gt; & lt;br & gt; 1. Garbarek sports a neutral, vibratoless tone that occasionally reaches an emotional climax; the rhythm section is supportive and just loose enough. The record operates at its strongest level when Jarrett locks the quartet into his winning gospel mode on & quot;'Long as You Know You're Living Yours & quot; and the tense drive of & quot;Spiral Dance. & quot; - Allmusic.com & lt;br & gt; & lt;br & gt; & lt;b & gt;Features: & lt;/b & gt; & lt;br & gt; • 180g Vinyl LP & lt;br & gt; • Audiophile High Quality Pressing & lt;br & gt; & lt;br & gt; & lt;b & gt;Selections: & lt;/b & gt; & lt;br & gt; & lt;b & gt;Side 1 & lt;/b & gt; & lt;br & gt; 1. Vijay Iyer Trio Break Stuff 150g 2LP (Vinyl)
& lt;font color= & quot;#FF0000 & quot; & gt; & lt;b & gt;High Quality 150g Vinyl Double LP! & lt;/b & gt; & lt;/font & gt; & lt;br & gt; & lt;br & gt; “Break Stuff” is what happens after formal elements have been addressed. Vijay Iyer calls the break “a span of time in which to act. It’s the basis for breakdowns, breakbeats, and break dancing... it can be the moment when everything comes to life.” A number of the pieces here are breakdowns of other Iyer constructions. Some are from a suite premiered at New York’s Museum of Modern Art, some derive from Open City, a collaboration with novelist Teju Cole and large ensemble. The trio energetically recasts everything it touches. “Hood” is a tribute to Detroit techno pioneer Robert Hood. On “Work,” Vijay pays homage to his “number one hero,” Thelonious Monk. “Countdown” reconsiders the classic Coltrane tune inside a rhythmic framework inspired by West African music. & lt;br & gt; & lt;br & gt; “Mystery Woman” is driven by compound pulses which owe a debt to South Indian drumming. Fast moving and quick-witted, the group has developed a strong musical identity of its own, with an emphasis on what Iyer calls “co-constructing,” exploring all the dynamics of playing together. Yet the three players also get abundant solo space and, in a reflective moment at the album’s centre, Iyer plays a moving version of Billy Strayhorn’s “Blood Count” alone. Break Stuff, recorded in June 2014 at New York’s Avatar Studio and produced by Manfred Eicher, is the third ECM release from Vijay Iyer. It follows the chamber music recording Mutations and the film-and-music project Radhe Radhe: Rites of Holi. & lt;br & gt; & lt;br & gt; & lt;b & gt; & quot;Break Stuff is modern jazz on the bleeding edge, a music that not only asks musical questions but answers them, and it does so accessibly and immediately, no matter the form or concept it chooses to express. This trio aims at an interior center, finds it, and pushes out, projecting Iyer & amp; Co.'s discoveries. & quot; & lt;/b & gt; -Thom Jurek, allmusic.com & lt;br & gt; & lt;br & gt; & lt;b & gt;Features: & lt;/b & gt; & lt;br & gt; • 150g Vinyl & lt;br & gt; • High Quality Pressing & lt;br & gt; • Double LP & lt;br & gt; • Gatefold Jacket & lt;br & gt; • Free MP3 Download Code Included & lt;br & gt; & lt;br & gt; & lt;b & gt;Musicians: & lt;/b & gt; & lt;br & gt; Vijay Iyer, piano & lt;br & gt; Stephan Crump, double bass & lt;br & gt; Marcus Gilmore, drums & lt;br & gt; & lt;br & gt; & lt;b & gt;Selections: & lt;/b & gt; & lt;br & gt; 1. Jack DeJohnette, Ravi Coltrane & Matthew Garrison In Movement 180g 2LP (Vinyl)

Special Merit: Informal & lt;/b & gt; & lt;/font & gt; & lt;br & gt; & lt;br & gt; & lt;font color= & quot;#FF0000 & quot; & gt; & lt;b & gt;ECM Debut From Ravi Coltrane & amp; Matthew Garrison On 180g Double LP! & lt;/b & gt; & lt;/font & gt; & lt;br & gt; & lt;br & gt; Fifty years ago, as a guest with John Coltrane’s group, Jack DeJohnette played with the fathers of Ravi Coltrane and Matthew Garrison. But for all the wealth of historical reference, this adventurous trio is a band in movement, taking the music forward. Ravi Coltrane and Matt Garrison, in their ECM debuts, both respond magnificently to DeJohnette’s driving drumming and color-rich cymbal play, Ravi with superb solos, Garrison with lean bass lines and imaginative looping electronics. & lt;br & gt; & lt;br & gt; Musing upon the studio experience with Ravi and Matthew, DeJohnette says: & lt;b & gt; & quot;I’m inspired by what we did – we got into some amazing sonic grooves. It’s a continuation, a moving of our music forward – music that’s not locked into any one genre. I know I haven’t heard any combination like this. There’s the past and the present and the future in what we’re doing. & quot; & lt;/b & gt; & lt;br & gt; & lt;br & gt; & lt;b & gt;Features: & lt;/b & gt; & lt;br & gt; • 180g Vinyl Pressing & lt;br & gt; • Double LP & lt;br & gt; • Gatefold Jacket & lt;br & gt; • Limited Edition Download Code Included & lt;br & gt; & lt;br & gt; & lt;b & gt;Musicians: & lt;/b & gt; & lt;br & gt; Jack DeJohnette & lt;br & gt; Ravi Coltrane & lt;br & gt; Matthew Garrison & lt;br & gt; & lt;br & gt; & lt;b & gt;Selections: & lt;br & gt; LP 1 & lt;br & gt; Side A: & lt;/b & gt; & lt;br & gt; 1.
