Cougars show they're for real First-year head coach Tom Herman's No. 18 Houston Cougars (13-1) topped off a powerhouse season with a 38-24 victory over No. 9 Florida State (10-3) in the Peach Bowl on New Year's Eve. Both teams displayed fun offenses but the Cougars proved they were ready for prime-time football. Trailing 21-3 at halftime, the No. 9, Seminoles rallied with two fourth-quarter touchdown passes by Sean Maguire. The Cougars' Greg Ward Jr., who threw for 238 yards and ran for 67 yards, kept the Florida State defense off-balance with a fast-tempo, no-huddle attack. (This win) means that we'll play against anybody, anywhere, Ward said after the game. Houston running back Kenneth Farrow added, "To be on this stage and do it with everybody watching . . . is huge.
