This piano duet begins with a cantabile opening in 3/4 time that serves as an introduction to a lively dance in 6/8, marked Allegro giocoso. The introduction is filled with lush harmonies and lyrical melodic lines, while the dance is a brilliant study in articulation and scale-like passages. The duet builds to an exciting and dramatic conclusion that will appeal to both audiences and performers. The secondo and primo parts are equal in difficulty and share melodic ideas. Commissioned by the Northwest Suburban Music Teachers Association of Illinois, it honors the memory of an active member for her many years of service to the organization.
