180g Vinyl! Out of Print on Vinyl for over 15 Years - the 1972 Album Featuring the Iconic Cover Image Is Finally Back!
Can was founded in 1968 by Irmin Schmidt, Holger Czukay, Michael Karoli and Jaki Liebezeit who formed a group which would utilize and transcend all boundaries of ethnic, electronic experimental and modern classical music.
Ege Bamyasi is Can's fourth studio album originally recorded and released in in 1972. Pitchfork went on to name Ege Bamyasi #19 on it's list of "Top 100 Albums of the 1970s". Popular tracks include "Vitamin C" and "Spoon" and a number of the other tracks have been sampled and covered. Kanye West sampled "Sing Swan Song" on his song, "Drunk and Hot Girls" off the album, Graduation, and Beck covered "I'm So Green" for a Can tribute album. Ege Bamyasi, which means "Aegean Okra" in Turkish also features one of the band's most iconic front cover images.
The bands powerful influence has never diminished, and their indelible mark is apparent in the bands who freely acknowledge their importance - from Portishead, James Murphy, New Order, Factory Floor, Public Image Ltd, Mogwai, Kanye West (who sampled Sing Swan Song) and Radiohead - as well as across other disciplines such as visual art and literature.
