180g Vinyl! Out of Print on Vinyl for over 10 Years - the 1970 Compilation Album Is Finally Back!
Can was founded in 1968 by Irmin Schmidt, Holger Czukay, Michael Karoli and Jaki Liebezeit who formed a group which would utilize and transcend all boundaries of ethnic, electronic experimental and modern classical music.
Soundtracks is a compilation album, first released in 1970, consisting of tracks written for film. The album marks the departure of the band's original vocalist Malcolm Mooney, who sings on two tracks, to be replaced by new member Damo Suzuki. "Don't Turn the Light On, Leave Me Alone" is Damo Suzuki's first recorded performance with Can.
The bands powerful influence has never diminished, and their indelible mark is apparent in the bands who freely acknowledge their importance - from Portishead, James Murphy, New Order, Factory Floor, Public Image Ltd, Mogwai, Kanye West (who sampled Sing Swan Song) and Radiohead - as well as across other disciplines such as visual art and literature.
