Capcom's popular extreme action-platforming-shooter series has been a fan favorite for nearly 7 years and Devil May Cry 4 has earned high ratings to prove that it is worthy of the name. Set between the events of the original and second installments, the player alternately controls the demon hunter, Dante as well a young warrior named Nero. Nero is just coming to terms with the powers of his glowing Devil Bringer arm which lets him smash demons and grab enemies from afar along with other abilities. In addition to his arm, Nero fights with a sword, the Red Queen - that can be revved up to deal additional damage - and his revolver, Blue Rose, which give him the ability to attack foes at close range or at a distance.
Despite the anime origins of the series, the characters and environments are beautifully rendered with next-gen lighting and shading. The characters' light-hearted outlook on dangerous situations and constant sarcasm is continued in this installment and it fits well with the new "style" system of combat where characters are awarded Style Points based on the number of orbs obtained, enemies slain, and time taken on each mission as well as the ability to avoid damage in combat. Taunting enemies also adds to one's style. He also has a super state called "Devil Trigger" which grants increased combat capabilities. For his part, Dante returns with his four fighting styles – which can now be switched at will. Can you save the city of Fortuna from the demons and the enemies within?
