FRONTLINE looks at the stories of four at-risk students at Houston's Sharpstown High School, a once-notorious "dropout factory," and the teachers, counselors and principal who are trying to keep them in school. It's a tough task for reasons that often travel beyond school grounds. One attends school only to play football; another's mother is in and out of prison; the third, a young mother, often has no place to sleep at night; and the fourth, whose father was deported, works at night to help support his family.
