180g Vinyl in Die-Cut Custom Gatefold Jacket!
The Academy In Peril by former Velvet Underground member John Cale was originally released in 1972. The album is an exploration of his influences and training in classical music and features mainly instrumental compositions including two tracks that feature the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra.
Cale balances the rock-classical fusion on the record with touches of humor while the music is beautiful and subtle showing Cale's skills at composing and arranging. Contributors include Ron Wood on guitar, Del Newman on drums and "Legs" Larry Smith of The Bonzo Dog Band. Cover art and design by Andy Warhol. This is a 180 gram vinyl reissue in a die-cut custom gatefold jacket.
"Much of the time the mood is, quite simply, serene and beautiful, an exercise of Cale's skills that impresses both technically and emotionally." -Ned Raggett, allmusic.com
