Famous for his tenor saxophone part in the theme for the Pink Panther movie (1963), Plas Johnson is a versatile player conversant in blues, R&B and hard bop. A Louisiana native, Johnson made his recording debut in New Orleans, but then moved to Los Angeles where he became a studio musician. He's worked with Johnny Otis and Charles Brown and recorded as a leader for a variety of labels. In 1990 he toured with the Gene Harris Superband.

Plas Johnson also plays the sax solo for Neil Hefti's signature music for "The Odd Couple" TV series. He has recorded with countless musicians including: Frank Sinatra, Barbara Streisand, Ella Fitzgerald, Ray Charles and many others.

"Positively" is one of his best recordings, and features Ray Brown on bass, Herb Ellis on guitar, Jake Hanna and Jimmy Smith on drums, and others.

This limited 2-LP set is half-speed mastered from the original analog master tapes, by Stan Ricker and Plated and Pressed at RTI on HQ-180 gram vinyl.. Stan Ricker spent countless hours and worked extra hard on this release. They are individually numbered and housed in gatefold jackets. Clifford Bailey added artwork on the inner gatefold. There is an excellent bonus track 'Parking Lot Blues' from "The Blues" by Plas Johnson.
