Alligator Records presents some of their all-time best-selling titles Remastered and Reissued on 180g Vinyl!

180g Vinyl reissue of the last studio release from this New Orleans music legend, critically acclaimed as the best of his storied career - Crawfish Fiesta. The album is now remastered and includes the bonus track, Percy Mayfield's "River's Invitation". Grammy Award-winner and Rock and Roll Hall of Fame inductee Dr. John is featured on guitar.

Professor Longhair, aka Roy "Bald Head" Byrd (Henry Roeland Byrd), was a New Orleans blues singer and pianist. He is noteworthy for having been active in two distinct periods of early rhythm and blues and that of traditional jazz after the founding of the New Orleans Jazz and Heritage Festival.

Born in 1918 in Bogalusa, Louisiana, Henry Byrd made a living as a street hustler until he started to play piano seriously in his thirties. He taught himself how to play on a piano with missing keys so his style became distinct. His career began in New Orleans in 1948 with a gig at the Caldonia Club, where the owner Mike Tessitore, bestowed Longhair with his stage name due to Byrd's shaggy coiffure.

Crawfish Fiesta was recorded in 1979 only months before his death in January 1980. It features a tight band and Dr. John as guest guitarist. The album was recorded at the SeaSaint in New Orleans and won the first W.C. Handy Blues Album of the Year Award in 1980.
