2017 Grammy Nominated Album! Features Strong Yet Delicate Female Vocals! Featuring Guest Performances by Alison Krauss, Abigail Washburn & Rhiannon Giddens!
Sierra Hull, the singer and mandolinist and former child prodigy who signed with Rounder at age 13, and distinguished herself by becoming the first bluegrass musician to receive a Presidential Scholarship to the prestigious Berklee College of Music, has announced the release of her first new album in five years. That album is titled "Weighted Mind".
15-time GRAMMY® winner Béla Fleck produced the recording, which features eleven compelling new compositions written or co-written by Hull, and one traditional tune for which she and Fleck provided a new arrangement.
Sierra Hull's strong yet delicate vocals bring to mind those of fellow Rounder recording artist Alison Krauss.
"As it happens the now-24-year-old artist wrote many of her 11 original songs while battling an identity crisis both personal and professional. Much of her personal anguish apparently stems from a seriously broken heart, as heated kissoffs "Birthday" and brutally frank heartbreaks "I'll be Fine" assert with searing incisiveness." - David McGee, The Absolute Sound, 4/5 Music, 4/5 Sonics
