For DX-format Nikon F-mount cameras, the telephoto zoom is designed to provide a 75-150mm equivalent range of focal length. Impressive performance in difficult lighting conditions throughout the zoom range, which actually gets benefited through fast f/ 1.8 constant maximum aperture and selective focus techniques, allows increased control over focus while working. To reduce chromatic aberrations and color fringing throughout the zoom range, the lens uses four Special Low Dispersion (SLD) and three F Low Dispersion (FLD) elements markedly. Additionally, one high-refractive index high-dispersion element controls spherical aberrations and increases sharpness and clarity. The Sigma 50-100mm f/ 1.8 DC HSM has Super Multi-Layer Coating elements applied to minimize ghosting and flare. It also produces color-neutral imagery and contributes to a contrast-rich picture even in low-light conditions. The integrated HSM (Hyper Sonic Motor), along with an internal focusing system, provides quiet and quick autofocus and has an optimized AF algorithm to produce smoother focusing performance, which further complements the lens.
