Mute are delighted to announce the release of a new EP and two drone albums in 2021. The EP Shadow Of Funk will be available on limited edition curacao 12" vinyl and all digital platforms. Dekadrone and BN9Drone both will be available on limited edition white 12" vinyl and all digital platforms.

All three were recorded in the sessions for the band's 2020 full length Shadow Of Fear, the band's first studio album in 26 years. Shadow Of Funk's industrial tracks delve deeper into Cabaret Voltaire's arsenal of "vocal samples, harsh rhythms and threatening distortions" (Classic Pop). Dekadrone and BN9Drone are drone pieces of transformation and transportation. If you ever wondered what it would be like to meditate on the moon, well wonder no longer.

The continuous 50-minute piece is filled with washed-out distorted noise and incomprehensible sinister voices, all of which blare away loudly but distantly in the background. Closer to the front is a pulsating arpeggio sequence that gradually shifts, sometimes pitching up before snapping back, and sometimes smudging like a record being thumbed while it's spinning on the turntable....the piece approaches a sensation close to flying over a vast, burning wasteland and trying not to get scorched by gigantic, out-of-control flames. It often seems extremely harsh and agitated, yet it maintains a sense of balance, serving as an audio mantra for an era that seems constantly on the verge of destruction.
