Two Original Albums On One 180g Vinyl LP!
Nicknamed "Bags", the Detroit, Michigan born vibraphonist Milt Jackson was one of the permanent members of the Modern Jazz Quartet and was famous for his blues-heavy improvisations. This release reissues two Jackson 10" LPs. Wizard of the Vibes combines four tracks he did with the Modern Jazz Quartet (plus Lou Donaldson on alto sax) in 1952 with three tracks done with Thelonious Monk and Art Blakey (1951). Three Milt Jackson originals are featured, including his signature composition and jazz standard, "Bags' Groove". The self-titled album that forms side B of this release features tracks recorded by the Milt Jackson Quartet (1951) and includes Thelonious Monk's "'Round About Midnight", as well as five Jackson originals.
