If Pavement's Watery, Domestic EP contained only one song, the laid-back yet ecstatic "Frontwards," it would be worth the price of admission. But the other three tracks are killers, too--the fuzzy, surging "Texas Never Whispers," for instance, which kicks things off. Watery, Domestic followed Pavement's groundbreaking debut, Slanted and Enchanted, and was the precursor to the equally classic Crooked Rain, Crooked Rain, yet it is the perfect bridge between the two, offering up equal parts off-kilter sonic assault and wry pop melodies. This one sometimes gets overlooked, which is a shame, because it's a fine, smaller piece in the jigsaw of one of America's all-time best indie bands.
