Sehnsucht is the second studio album by German industrial metal band Rammstein, now available for the first time as a limited edition 2xLP set pressed on 180 gram black vinyl! Originally released in 1997, the album was remastered in 2015 by the longtime Rammstein sound engineers.
The band helped to found a subgenre within German hard rock and metal that became known as Neue Deutsche Härte, which describes a crossover style that is influenced by New German Wave, alternative metal and groove metal combining it with elements from electronica and techno. Sehnsucht is the only album entirely in German to be certified platinum by the RIAA in the US. The album's second single, "Du hast", peaked at number twenty on the Billboard Mainstream Rock Songs chart in the United States and is the most successful German language song in the history of that chart.
The album booklet folds out to reveal six different covers, one for each band member, with the Austrian painter and photographer Gottfried Helnwein visualizing Rammstein with white make up and original medical instruments, used by the surgeon Ferdinand Sauerbruch.
