Self-Titled 1995 Debut On Vinyl LP!
Features "Peaches", "Kitty", "Dune Buggy" & "Lump"!
Only 25 years late! PUSA's self-titled debut finally gets the full phonographic release it never had.
We are the rock band The Presidents Of The United States Of America! Or rather, we were. We stopped performing in 2015, after 20-ish years of circling the globe kicking out the jams in tiny clubs and massive festivals and everything in between. Like Zamfir, the Master of the Pan Flute, we have "enchanted millions". Maybe YOU were one of these people! (Or two of these people, if you are looking over the shoulder of a co-worker or spouse.)
Our debut album came out in 1995, first on a tiny Seattle label called Pop Llama, then some *action-packed* months later on COLUMBIA RECORDS. At some point early in the process, we did a sub-license (music business term!) with a small Spanish label for vinyl, and they made a few copies. They continue to be battled over to this day. I'm being told there may have been a Dutch version as well? Maybe a bootleg? Who knows. ANYHOOOOO there aren't very many out there is what I'm trying to tell you!
1995 was a time when vinyl seemed like a format whose days were numbered. Because OMG COMPACT DISCS! We stayed very busy circling the globe and kicking out the jams and selling gajillions of these "CDs." Here are some of the concepts we may have lost
track of during this turbulent time:
It wasn't until years later when INTERNET let people talk to us that we found out we had made a huge mistake. So here we are, coming up on its 25th birthday....BOOM VINYL PUSA!
Their quirky take on punk-pop did help expand the palette of MTV and alternative radio, and make their oddball singles part of the enduring sound of the era. Vote yes on the Presidents!
