This double feature presents a pair of John Wayne's best Westerns. In THE SONS OF KATIE ELDER (1965), three wandering sons return home to attend the funeral of their murdered mother and set their sights on the man responsible for her death. And in THE SHOOTIST (1976), a veteran gunslinger learns that he's dying of stomach cancer and has no more than two months to live (a poignant, gracious swansong for Wayne, who, like his character, was dying of cancer as the film was being shot).
