Book Synopsis

This book is not just about a one named family but goes from 1600 to the present day with the history of Ireland their people and the lives they lived interwoven in time. It begins in 1535 with Sir David Wemys of Fife Scotland. It covers many Wemyss, Weymes families from Ireland, Scotland, England, America, and Canada and wherever possible gives details of individuals lives and their historical setting. This all started in 1900 when my Grandfather PJ Weymes was told he might have a claim to the Scottish title Baronet of Bogie. Unfortunately, PJ Weymes was unable to prove who the father of his ancestor Sir Patrick Wemyss of Kilkenny was and so the title went to an American instead. In 2020, after 30 years of research, I eventually managed to find the missing link. Throughout this process, many family trees were completed, some dating back to the sixteenth century.

REVIEW

Bob Wemyss 5.0 out of 5 stars

Great example of how family history should be researched. The product of many years of investigative research into the Wemyss Family in Ireland.
