5 out of 5 stars. A wonderful exploration of Love Poetry.
In this book, Sandra Roe examines love poetry. She does so in
an eloquent way, providing the history of each poet she
explores. This books reminds us why we often seek love poems,
what they do for us and why. I liked learning more about the
history of each poet and learning the "how and why" of each of
their poems. The author provides important context for each
work examined in the book. It is also an easy read and one can
pick up any chapter they are interested in at any time. I enjoyed
her final section of Bob Dylan, reminding us the love poems
come in many shapes and sizes. This book pleasantly reminds
us why we fall in love with love poetry, after all. By Connie

4 out of 5 stars. Great read.
This is a beautifully produced compact book full of love. It's
written with love and is about love poetry through the ages.
The author gives some analysis of Shakespeare's sonnets,
Donne's love poetry, Marlowe, WH Auden, Robert Burns
and Elizabeth Barrett Browning all the way to Bob Dylan's
lyrical songs - so there is a feast through the ages to nourish
the reader. The author's analysis is insightful and the writing
is clear and precise. Highly recommended
